You know this is an amazing video. I have stopped and rewind many many times because this is the street my mother and father lived on for 30 years. Well today was my actual first visit back out to our homestead and I thought of your video the whole time I traveled through the burnt woods. All I can say is WOW. I am so glad that all made it out okay because it was bad. It looks like some military war back in the woods there. God bless and thank you again.
Thank you to whoever you are.... we were in limbo and still are atleast w/this video we were able to identify our property. Otherwise we would still be wondering. This has been more helpful than any official source at all. Thanks again and prayers to all affected.
That map the county posted does not show confirmed losses on cardinal and ponderosa lp and back in that subdivision which unfortunately is mostly all gone there are only a few structures left the morning we made the video provided the re-flash didn't get remaining structures.
Everyone... Bastrop County has published a map of confirmed destroyed structures at w w w . co . bastrop . tx . us / site / news / 73 (add dots & remove spaces)
@cyrusmargo Longhorn, unfortunately, is gone. Same with Charolais. See the current list of destroyed homes at media2.kxan . com / PDF/ListDestroyedStructures . pdf (remove the spaces)
If you happen to travel near Kahalulu Dr, off of/near to Tahitian drive, could you check that out? I'm all the way in Tenn, & can't seem to get in contact with the folks I know there. I hope they are alright as well as their pets, but I have a gut feeling the place is lost like all the rest of the poor folks there. Thanks
After watching this video it is official that my mom and dads home of 30 years is gone. WOW. wonderful video. I named all the people that lived on cardinal drive as I seen there gates. Grew up here my whole life and to just wake up one day and it all be gone in flames and nothing but ash to see. It is heartbreaking. New things will come of this. My mom and dad will be very hurt when we go out to view the charred remains of 30 years but at least I know what to expect!! Thank you MrMarine.
We drove almost to the end of Cardinal Dr we didn't go around cardinal Loop but there wasn't much of anything in the way of structures left. We went down Ponderosa and there is nothing there it's just trees and ash sorry I couldn't be of more help.
Thank you for uploading this. -- My mother's house is[/was] on Cardinal Loop. It's difficult to determine a point-of-reference, but did you happen to drive all the around Cardinal Loop? Were there any structures still standing (aside from the blue house at the beginning)?
So sorry for your loss and we are praying for all of you. My son is out there fighting these fires and he says that he has NEVER seen anything like this. They are doing their best to save what they can and are devastated that they can't save everything.
@askbhink I would like to first and foremost THANK your son for the courageous battle he has fought to save what he could. Awesome Job. I am just thankful that everyone got out safely and didn't lose a life in the process. It is a terrible tragedy I know first hand. My parents raised me and my sister there on Cardinal Dr. To know that in a despaired time of need, what we always called home is gone. GOD will fix it for everyone affected he always does. He makes no mistakes. He is a GOOD GOD!!!!!!
First I'd like to thank you for the video. God bless all the brave men and women who are fighting this monster. You mention Peach to Plum... how far down did it get? My mother's house is off Ponderosa - not the Ponderosa in Circle D, but the one off Plum. Her property is between Ponderosa and Market. Any information would be appreciated. Thanks!
@grannyoetken According to all of the fire maps that I've seen, LBA, including the back end (Peach, Plum, etc) is untouched. Go to Wildfiretoday d o t c o m to see maps and such.
@harperae He cut through an empty lot that borders both Whispering Pines and Old Firetower Road. It is one of the few ways to (illegally) get into Circle D at the moment.
Its actually not an empty lot and there was no blockades when we went back there and we needed to get through to our friends houses to see exactly the amount of damages 4 of our close friends have lost their houses and our old house was reduced to rubble.
@MrMarine2619 Given that you traveled down OFT to Pine Path, you either cut through that empty lot or through Ruben's place. Just sayin'. In any case, with 1441 closed from 95 to 21, and LBA still under evacuation, I'm guessing that you came the back way from Pershing to avoid the barricades. No worries, though. I had to do the same thing to rescue my pets on Sunday night, except I was able to come in 1441 to Peach.
@MrMarine2619 Ah, okay. I haven't been back since Sunday night and was going off of the official road closure list which states all of 1441 being shut down.
Aren't most of the trees dead?

Look at the smoke cloud in the upper right of the video 9:35 minutes in. Looks like a face frowning over the scene. Kinda reflects the way I feel.
