Hey RichieOTR, this is one of the best comparison vids I've seen. You've got the camera setup in the same position, and the bike's at the same distance - excellent!
Question, I'm upgrading from the 250 ninja but didn't want to get something super fast. I'm 5'1, 105 lbs. I have to lower the bike of course, but weight wise will it be to much? I hear its not as quick as a GSXR or R6 which is something I like, is this true? And the riding position is very comfortable?
The 650 is more like a standard motorcycle with farings, than a race bike. Super comfortable, long smooth powerband, very easy to ride, narrow for traffic and still pretty flickable for the twisties. It's not going to have the power supersport will, but at 105 lbs it'll move you pretty quick.
But of course your weight will not be too much. The ninja can take over 200lbs...the less weight the better. And the average I would guess would be around 160 lbs...
105 lbs may whip you around easier. And as Richie said, it's comfortable bike and easy to learn on but you definitely won't get bored on it :)

Ninja 650 Exhaust Sounds ? ... sound like you need to get a reall bike homie ... but keep that sound cause your the only one i have ever heaard that didnt sound like crap ... ill give you that ...lets ride some day
hey.. i was just wondering if the kawasaki ninja 650r was hard to learn on because i was going to get a 08 250r but i am too tall for it so i need to get the 650.. do you think it is too much power to start out on?
Yeah 250's are are really a glorified scooter, the 650's are the best choice for a daily rider. Or if you can't afford a 650 go for the 500 at the very least!
My first bike was a 650r too... it is all around awsome... like its comfortable to ride.. handles awsome, and has decent performance... its still fast enough to do stupid stuff.... so use you head but i would recomend it
Be sure to grab a Power Commander if you install any aftermarket exhaust systems (slip on or muffer + headers) so you can custom jet your fuel system - otherwise you'll be back firing all day and your engine will not perform as effeciently.
My first bike was a ninja 650r with a scorpion exhaust. It's fun to learn on and will probably never get old

GO DIE.
A 650r i a wise choice for in the city riders, lots of torque for off the light stuff.
Does he appear to be the "homie" type? By the looks of things he looks to be a 43 year old man in denial.

blah blah blah ... you ride the 650 too ? its all good like i said ...

I got a 650R for my first bike too. Awesome bike.
It's a 2006 model in Black, like the one in the video. Best color they've ever offered, and it was only on the '06s as far as I know.

No, the 08 model brings it back.

Well I stand corrected.
It's still the best.

No, not at all, just be careful with the throttle.
Kawasaki intended for the bike to be a sort of a learner.
Have you taken lessons yet? If not, take some through the Motorcycle Safety Foundation. They really help.
Good luck with riding. The 650R is a great bike, but mine is sold, against my will. :(
ShortySIG552 3 years ago
I totally agree. I would put the Ninja 650R on par with the Suzuki SV650 as a fantastic beginner's bike.
Good luck, Assassin! Have fun.

the 650r is a better bike the sv650 .... im my opinion .
but the sales prove it ...

im bot to buy 1 it's my first bike should i get the 650 to start of on?
Jbru456 4 years ago
Lots of folks say it's better to start off on a 250, but I think a 650 is fine to start with as long as you use your head.
