I agree with you on....everything actually. The LDS church is very friendly with the Catholic church but doctrinally of course we disagree. And you are right, historically the early Christians were withheld everything but what would prosper the church. In fact the first German and English bibles were translated in complete secrecy for fear of execution.
What's special about the LDS church (the makers of this footage) is the...
transparency with which they operate. Public audits of their financial affairs, no paid clergy, and a service-without-reward attitude towards fellowmen.
But most of all, what's special is the promise given in LDS doctrine that we can receive a personal witness from God regarding all truth. We don't have to believe in the resurrection because the church says it is so. We can know for ourselves through personal communion with God that it is true.

This church is small, and gains nothing publicly by my adherence to their commandments. They have no need to control their membership like the early church. I'm telling you this church is without guile.
As for the Christ-like legends: I believe Christ ministered to many peoples before and after his mortal life. If he's the savior why wouldn't he?

To me the fact that similar stories exist cultural legends is a huge implication that Christ is in fact the one true divinity. His story exists amongst all of his peoples.

Also, the gospels were written by 2 disciples, 1 was a scribe of Peter, and only one was not present when he was around. All there accounts are similar and support one another. And you can't disprove religious truths with science or with the combined, united opinions of all the people on earth. Religion, by it's very nature, is a matter of faith. As you have and exercise faith, you gain knowledge. Science too can lead to knowledge, but actual scientific truth will never be at odds with actual religious truth. They are the same. After all, God knows and understands all. It is man's arrogance that assumes that we can understand more than God through science.

The commandments are designed to bring us safety, not to limit our freedom. They are designed to increase our freedom to choose, not limit it. Actually, it shows the Nephites as being a mix of white and Lamanite, which you would see if you were really looking or cared to look. Also, the video beautifully shows what it was meant to show, which is our Savior's great love for, and service toward, all people, everywhere. The message of this video is that we should all seek to be and do the same, whether it's a comment on someone else's video or religion, or in our daily lives, we need to look outside of ourselves and do as He did.
