Money and Credit are illusionary concepts created to keep us in mental prison, Credit still matters though. Unfortunately I have had my battles, struggled for months trying to get my credit score to respectability. Worst time spent EVER.
I was tired with the battle, but my friend recommended a company that did all the leg work for him, and all they charged me was $40/year.
Give them a call if you got credit problems, They are AWESOME
... Did you know that even as a BANKRUPT, you can still set up a new business as a Network Marketer /MLM, because as they are small investments to join, and they don't check your credit. Set a limit of how much money and time you will spend marketing and stick to it. you can research companies on the direct Selling Association website.
Somehow I don't have any sympathy for people that buy expensive stuff that they can't afford and then end up going bankrupt. Live within your means and you will avoid all this hassle and embarrassment.
@baigandine negative items stay on for 7 years, a bankruptcy stays on for 10 years. after maybe 3 years or so, these kinds of notations won't mean all that much--it depends on who is being asked for credit.
NOT filing bankruptcy was the worst thing I didn't do 4 1/2 yrs ago. Have paid over $16k in past debt only to be in just the shambles of credit rating that I was then--even when I was never late in the last 4 1/2 yrs paying that down. Now, I need surgery, and dental work, and have issues going with my only car to go along with no job, nope, I'm filing bankruptcy just as soon as my surgery is done.
im thinking of filing bankruptcy.. so ur saying even after trying to repair it doesnt work, my uncle says i need to do it immediately.. he said I will be better off..? is this true?
Absolutely! I just filed 4 days ago actually. While it will take a few yrs for your credit to be repaired, you can always re-build it beginning immediately. Just make sure you get a *secured* card preferably through a credit union--NOT a bank--but a credit union, keep current with payments on it for 12-15 months where you can then apply for a non-secured card.
Bankruptcy does stay on your credit for 10 yrs, but multiply your payments you have now, can you afford that for 10 yrs each month?
@skylarportland - oh dear - but I do know how you feel. I'll health occuring at the wrong time, can seriously throw a spanner in the works of anyone who previously build years of good credit and savings. I experienced it myself, and turmoil followed in everyway, just three months after being made redundant and buying a second home.
Normally a cautious person, I listened to Robert T Kiyosaki, I took a risk I wasn't prepared to handle.
I claimed personal bankruptcy at 19 to get out of a dodgy recording contract. My credit score was back in the 700's in less than 2 years.
It's not a big deal if you claim bankruptcy to anyone but your current creditors, which is why "independant" finance officers are paid incentives by your bank to try to "work with your bank".
The credit industry IS indeed horrible. College students should not be able to obtain credit cards with any limits beyond $500. Student loans should be allowed, but not the immense amount of credit that is offered.
I'm a college student that will probably have to declare bankruptcy. I know it's basically my own fault, but I really didn't stand a chance with the $40 late fees, $40 overlimit fees, and the 30% interest.
There was one time I went to the bank to make a credit card payment on the day of the "due date" on a Bank of America credit card. That day was a Saturday. The payment didn't post until Monday, so I got charged the $30 late fee. It should be illegal for banks to set these kinds of traps for people.
Oh, and you forgot to mention: The low-interest cards say they will only raise rates if you miss a payment: They mean if you miss ANY payment to ANY biller.
I was late on the electric bill and 9% became 27%. When I argued, they said, "Look at clause xxx paragraph 'a'.
That clause said they could raise the rates anytime they wanted, for any reason.
Nice vid. I'm going through a chapter 7 right now. My debt is set to be discharged in October. My credit score was already in the low 400's. Even if I had paid on my repossessed vehicle and foreclosed house for the next 30 years or so my credit score would have stayed low. My attorney tells me that most of her clients who file end up with a 600+ credit score in just a couple years. Bankruptcy does NOT ruin you for life. Good advice in this vid.
A credit rating only matters if you want to borrow money again. fuck that...pay cash and credit does not matter.

Doesn't negative info only stay on there 7 years? So if you do it when you're young, it won't hound your old age.

@goodgirlsguide Yep, Kiyosaki is a fraud. Filing bankruptcy isn't for everyone, but it DOES beat consumer credit counseling!!
