  • I saw them today....amazing live...and they are such freaking cool musicians!

  • Whoever uploaded this AWSOME JOB!!AIC was AWSOME THAT NIGHT..real nice guys to meet..esp after quite some years..Jerry, Sean , are super nice.. William was great not a Layne by any stretch but Not far from him either... LONG LIVE AIC!!

  • dude i love alice in chains, and i really really look up to layne staley when it comes to singing. he had alot of good live performances, especailly in 1989 to like early 1992. in between those times you alwyas knew it was gonna be a good show, but then after you never realy knew how layne was gonna sound, and you could always tell when he was high live. which i think has to do alot with the deterioration of his vocals.

  • he gets there, he is no staley, and i think hes not trying to, this performance in flawless...

  • Unfortunately I have to agree with mweyburg. I saw them live back in the day and was sorely disappointed.

  • i hav nothing to say to u mweyburg

  • The vocals aren't bad.. no one can really say Duvall did a bad job, you people are just too attached to the idea of how good Layne's voice was.. yeah, Duvall doesn't have that nice raspy voice.. but he still hits the notes.

  • its not about hitting the notes it was the passion and emotion that Layne put into these songs that made them what they are

  • god layne was awesum

  • o damn ._. i want layne back i don't want alice in chains like that ._.

  • duval isn´t that bad, is as good singer, not as good as Layne but i think duval was a great choice for A.I.C. after Layne.

    R.I.P. LAYNE STALEY

  • @FranciscoPS3 I TOTALLY AGREE WITH YOUbut he does have large pair of shoes to fill!!! but in person he is just as nice nice as Layne*rest his sole* was and i've had the pleasure to meet both gents...

  • vocals are flat as fuck.

  • right, which makes him a horrible fit considering a large portion of their material is drug-themed.

  • So you have to do drugs to play Alice in Chains songs? Well shit, in that case there would be No Alice In Chains considering none of them do drugs anymore.

  • is that the original drummer?

  • Man Layne is my fav. vocalist of all time, but he screwed it up for the fans and himself. Go ahead and bash this comment but seriously, no one forced Layne to use the way he did. I really miss him but it is time to move on. RIP Layne!!!

  • Fuck off, Layne hater.

  • your're making sense deadviolets since layne is his favorite vocalist ever

  • Whenever you read some generic praise followed by a "BUT", you know they're about to put Layne down for something.

  • hmmm Sevendust....KSE...just two i know of but badass black guys

  • how can you sing like a black guy, if you can sing you can sing, DuVall isnt Layne but he is pretty good. Some people on these comments can be so ignorant1 we are all people and color should never be an issue we bleed, breath, and live under the same sun and moon get it together

  • im not racist but u cant disagree that if u didnt even see the video u culd tell the new singer is black either way, so him being black gives off a distinctive black vocals i mean it doesnt make since wat im saying but majority of black ppl just cnt sing rock. its like a white person trying to rap.

  • The only black guy able to pull off rock, that I know of, was Jimi Hendrix. Know any other GOOD black rockers?

  • phil lynott, rocky george, and all of living colour. now shut the fuck up, both of you

  • Howard Jones of Killswitch Engage

  • michael jackson, lenny kravitz, robi draco rosa, also rock was created by black people remember the rithym, blues, jazz, etc

  • Don't forget one hit wonders "Snow" and "vanilla ice". Oh there was also limp bizkit but that band had more then one hit song...in fact their over played song "Rollin" which I somewhat like was last being quoted as "Its the hokey pokey for rockers...or I guess you could call it the heavy metal/rap version of the hokey pokey"

  • lol wtf

I can't stand the dude singing AiC, but wtf does his voice have to do with him being black? I'd have no idea as to the color of this guy just hearing his voice, and neither would you.

  • If Eminem can rap.. duvall can rock.. fuck off..

  • duvall doesn't have the grit needed to pull off some of these songs. he will probably be a studio vocalist because a lot of layne's old material would rip his throat to shreds. expect to hear a lot of the new stuff. if he doesn't have a gritty, powerful voice on the album, that will kill the william duvall debate for good. still gonna listen before i buy it, peace.

  • He did a 12 song set of "Layne songs" in Amsterdam and his throath was fine till th end..

  • hope you're right. you saw 12 songs in a row. i have my opinion from different videos.

  • I think it's great that they are back with a new singer. Granted, Staley could be considered 'irreplaceable'. However, they have to move on sometime. I suppose they could breakup, sit at home and do nothing, but what good is that to us fans?

I look forward to hearing what Duvall can deliver.

  • cant wait for the new album

  • Wow talk about narrow-minded fans; I'll trust the band's judgment on DuVall and he's no Staley, but he does pretty good. You people need to just humbly move on from the fact that Staley is dead and there will be no one to completely fill his shoes (and that DuVall is black for you closet racist fans).

  • Next thing you know, Nirvana will reunite with an African American as singer/guitarist.

  • hahahahaha.

  • What about the harmonies? Jerry only has one voice and mike and Sean don't sing...last I checked. William is fine, AIC is moving forward; deal with it. If you like the new stuff, then buy the record if yo like; if not then don't buy it.

  • AIC vocal harmonies (not to mention Layne and Jerry's to begin with is irreplaceable) define they're music. I agree that Jerry needs a new singer to complete that and I can't wait to hear Duvall on the new album.

  • "But he's black".......hmmmmm, isn't that a racist statement? So what if he's black. Not liking the new guy because his degree of relatedness to the songs is one thing, but not likeing the guy becuase of the color of his skin is racist....last I checked.

  • the new singer is a layne staley wannabe. he is a faggot. he ruins the band. Alice In Chains still kicks ass.

  • Layne can't be replaced...

  • the new singer is weak.

  • I don't know what you guys are talking about. Duvall did fine, in fact, if I close my eyes, he almost sounds just like Layne.

  • Jerry is wonderful, Sean's drums kick ass (love the pic of Layne), but the vocals are weak. William Dolittle needs to return to CWTF. He lacks the intensity, passion, and stage presence needed to fill this spot. Yes, I believe it could be filled--just NOT by this man.

  • no,no and no!

    Only LAYNE!!!!!

  • duvalls so far the best shoe in for the reformatted band...did you hear how the lead singer from disturbed butchered this song...absolute shit mate.

  • Let them tour, yes, but with someone who can fucking sing these songs!

Why are we settling for this guy? Desperation?

If fans stopped going to these shitty concerts, Jerry would find a new singer so fast it would make Duvall's afro spin.

A band that used to be home to Layne Staley should have higher standards than this.

  • heyy i loved layne as much as the next alice in chains fan. but atleast they are touring again. plus duvall aint that bad

  • clear the floor and grab me a bucket...i think i'm gonna be sick.

  • layne le viveva le canzoni sto finocchio le storpia solo, si vede che è solo un sostituto di merda

  • Duvall lacks the rage and pain to sing this song correctly. His attack in the chorus is all wrong. He sounds more like a crooner singing a love ballad (in this case, to Jerry). He's not meant to sing this type of music.

  • I agree! He's not grungy at all! Alice in chains has lost their initial sound when they lost Layne... You still hear it with Cantrell, but it's not nearly as good.

  • williams voice is great, but lacks in attitude on stage, unlike layne the total package....and the drug that killed him,is the drug that give him character in his very best live performances

  • This is hard to watch...I almost would have rather seen them just disappear and the legend and sound live on...

  • Right on.

  • Because it matters what his hair is like and what he's wearing? He knows that he cannot replace Layne in the eyes of the world but I feel he's doing a damn good job. It's not easy to replace a legend and hes developing his own identity and fostering more respect for the Layne.

  • this is sad to watch. Layne would laugh if he saw this dude walking around with a fro and the 70's get up he's wearing, emulating him.

  • william had a black flag shirt there, and so did i! but then a bird shit on my shirt when i was waiting in line so that was a bummer

  • lol he kinda sounds like Marvin Martian i think he kills it, its good don't get me wrong but theres no energy there no more it just sounds like some every day dude singing it. He can add nice vibrato on his vocals tho ill give him that.

  • That's it! He totally sounds like Marvin the Martian.

  • I don't mind his singing THAT much. But the jumping around the stage and the tight tight pants don't fit really fit this kind of band.

  • Very bad Duvall...

Come back Layne, come back, please come back.

    Please...

  • layne is dead you dumbfuck

  • frank but true. still, i think they might as well be pissing on layne's grave, doing this

  • Wiliam Duvall was much better than I personally anticipated, however NO ONE will ever be able to accurately imatate Laynes Vocals but William definetely wasn't horrible.

    RIP Layne - Fuck Heroin

  • looks like nothing more than a tribute band without Layne! Sick that they'd keep this going! Hell! I do a pretty good Layne Staley LOL that doesn't make it the same. RIP..put the name away, start another band, no more AIC

  • You can add a voice, and this is not bad. There is one thing though you can never add, and that is the "it" factor this band lost in Layne Staley.

    Regards

  • Yo I was there...it was the best

  • i know image isnt much but jerry looks way to expensive in the clothes he's wearing. it makes me feel like he's just in for the money kinda deal. I know 90s are over but i'd prefer to see them dressed all grungy

  • What kind of stupid shit is that to be concerned about?

  • Please interpret comments correctly Cyrusthevirus. I admit "image isnt much" amongst other things. I am just saying, with such a great show about the only thing that could make it better is if they dressed like the old days. So please don't call it "stupid shit", you don't need to worry, I can still sleep at night- so clearly I am not that concerned

  • Sounds pretty close to me. Though Layne sung Jerry was the master of it all. I would like to see some New material. I'd give props to the new singer.

  • Layne should've never been replaced. AIC died when he died. Simple as that.

  • agreed

  • I agree!

  • thats not fair

  • that show was epic!!!!!!!!

  • AIC fuckin rocks!!!! Layne will and always be the soul to that band.. RIP, Layne

  • Layne can never be replaced.

  • Amen

  • reminds me of a long time ago when Dio replaced Ozzy. Never the same. But if that's what it takes to see the likes of Iommi or JC, then so-be-it.

  • Haha, I was kidding about the Lenny comment. Hes half black and when you think Layne, you don't think half black. Show was incredible, they played every chains song I wanted except "Nutshell". Played "Rain when I die" even which I didn't expect. Hes got a damn close Layne impersonation for those who say it isn't really "Alice in Chains". Worth the price of the ticket.

  • duvall looks like macy gray. he really has a great voice, but he MUST cut off that fashionista afro hair

  • i want a uk tour from these guys!!! wonder how much the tickets would be?

  • Does anyone know where to listen to a quality version with Duvall. Cant tell if he is good or not, but definitey too goofy to front AIC. Layne would laugh at this guy. Gimme a break. AIC is not AIC without L-A-Y-N-E

  • topdawg.

I was at this concert. All I knew going in was that AIC was being fronted by some guy named William. All of a sudden, Lenny Kravitz walks out. Seriously, me and another guy I was there with (having paid $90 for tickets, paid for AIC with velvet being secondary) Found him to be really damn close to Layne a lot of the time.

  • im pretty sure that wasnt lenny fuckin kravitz its william duvall they may look a tad similar but the difference is that william can sing

  • a gud version of duvall is the songs he played at the rock am ring in 06, there on youtube, he does man in the box, them bones, again and no excuses i think.

  • Man you r so right try telling these other deperate poeple that! OMG everyone is praising this guy, hes a hack.

  • what a great show that was

  • Full moon over DTE n late Aug... Jammed like one should ever possibly expect like there was no tomorrow

  • duvall did sound quite like Layne when he did his harmony with Jerry. he's really doing a great job now, i think.

  • i saw them in chicago about a month ago and they kicked ass....Duvall is badass

  • duvall, get rid of him he killed this how could anyone sit and listen to this and think this is good

  • duvall is pretty good and Vr rock so stfu. hope aic do a uk tour soon!

  • beautiful,beautiful....

  • OMG where did theyt find this guy...It doesn't even feel that Lain Stayle ever left.. Altough this guy maybe better....Who knew... AIC Rocks

  • nobody can top layne, this guy is good though

  • thank you thank you thank you amigo for these (your) upoads...this is like professional quality camera work..i wish you were at all the concerts that I go see !

  • Ya velvet revolver does suck lol...we only stayed for AIC...but i heard velvet did alot of STP stuff i wish i saw that .

  • one more week til Scranton,PA!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • man, AIC wont let you down. they were so awsome. and if you had any doubts about william singing, he does an amazing job. velvet revolver sucks though

  • wtf u got against VR? scott weiland kicks ass
