i remember when i was little, cuddling up with my two sisters in my mom's bed. this was the only song that would put us to sleep. it brings tears to my eyes when i hear it now.
Heard Freyda first with Trapezoid, then at Omega and finally with the Attaboys/Acoustic Attatude in Albany. What a remarkable talent. I was just crushed to learn of her death - like opposites attracting. Thanks for putting up this tribute. And if you don't have "Midnight at Cabell Hall", get it...
My dad bought the globalullabies tape for me when I was 3... I used to play it every night and I would put this song on repeat. The tape broke and I've been looking for the songs ever since- I'm so glad I found this! It's truly a beautiful tape.
Wow- my 17 year year old, a high school graduate yesterday, showed me this You Tube page. I played the global lullabies CD for her and her 2 sisters nightly for a very long time a long time ago. She asked me to listen tonight. It made me cry. I did not know of Freyda's untimely death. I send praise and thanks for this wonderful music.
I remember the girl in the first picture from the days we played guitar together, harmonized, discovered open tunings and all the pain and growth of a couple of junior high school girls.
WAAAAH!!! I miss her still. I knew she was a special friend to me. It was only after her passing that I learned just how much she was a special friend to EVERYONE!!
Thanks for posting this, I had never heard of Freyda, but was driving up I-64 by Charlottesville and I heard this song on the radio and thought it was the most beautiful thing I'd ever heard. I googled Freyda and found about her tragic death and her musical legacy. Thanks for a lovely tribute to a woman that was obviously much loved.
Your lilting contralto I will forever miss. I love the music during your Trapezoid days. I am so thankful to find this tribute to you on here!! WOW! Beautiful as ever!!
I only saw Freyda once....at the Augusta Heritage Center in West Virginia. I was smitten.....and I listen to her Acoustic Attatude CD often. It is a "must have" CD for anyone that has ever been in love.
Never got to say goodbye. Loved you Freddie.. bill o.
