  • This tv program was the first version of COPS.

  • Happy 80th Birthday Martin Milner! One of the best TV cops ever!

  • Malloy was such a cardboard head (must have been a bigger pervert in his off-duty than hoover or webb. lol) & replacing the powerful Belvederes with the piece of shit Matadors was a faux-pas.

  • This was a great show - it was the first to show the human side of police officers, and also made sure to spotlight the different cars they used during the show. I believe they started with a late '60s Plymouth Belvedere, then moved on to a '71 Plymouth Satellite briefly and then finished off with an AMC Matador sedan.

  • malloy had less personality than spock from star trek.

  • Comment removed

  • I love the one episode when the 70 gto judge is chasing the 70 cyclone gt.real cars not like these tuner throw away shit boxes driving around today!

  • will you help melissa davis get some of her child support.

  • Who's the announcer in this?

  • @abuis13 Jack Webb, the actor that played Sergeant Joe Friday in Dragnet.

  • My fav TV COP Show - EVER !

  • They just started screening Adam 12 again here in Australia. Always wondered why it was never rerun here since the originals in the early 70s

  • Nope, Hill Street Blues was the most realistic police drama ever, bar none.

  • Ah the beginnings of "Cops" and the "Jerset Shore" generation - a fine fine american tradition and culture in the making.

  • Loved this show every day after school as a kid thanks glued to tv then still am when on reto tv.Anyone know what the acters are up to these day's?Thanks okdriver58.

  • In 1969 on the way to Disneyland, we came upon the Adam 12 car on the highway. The front of the car had both actors in a cop car, but the car was sort of on a flatbed w/ cameras on the back. To this day, I look to see if I can see my aunts station wagon as background vehicles w/ my nose pressed agains the window.

  • All units in the vicinity of 1 Adam-12. 1 Adam-12, officer down at Bing Crosby residence. Handle code three.

  • TODAY THEY WD HAVE THEIR HANDS FULL DEALING WITH ALL THOSE FUCKING ILLEGAL MEXICAN CRIMINALS

  • rolling through Compton/Long Beach/ Inglewood when it was white & clean.

  • Classic!

    Cops NOT WEARING seat belts!!!!

  • Too bad LAPD is now ran as a business not as a Police station officers are not protected like they used to be, its sad Gates was the best Chief he cared for LA and the Officers, he was a cops cop.............RIP in Chief we miss you and thanks for your service.

  • great show guys.

  • This was a spinoff from Dragnet it was on syndications reruns durin the late 1970 s thy sure dont make good cops action tv show like Adam12 nowdays!

  • Considering tthis show was 40 years old, they did a credible job with it for the time!

  • I wish there were full episodes uploaded on here, it's virtually impossible to watch if you're in the UK :(

  • Awesome video! I've seen the first 3 seasons on DVD and seeing these network promos really take me back. Very, very cool...thanks for posting. By the way, there's a nice 3 part video on Route 66 with a nice interview with Martin Milner. Type into search: route 66 festival part 1

  • the blonde policeman sure is cute and nice :o)

  • The narrator makes it sound vaguely like one of the 70s GI joe action figure commercials..........." you and GI joe can take to the streets, hold a stakeout, and can catch a theif with his kung fu grip!"

  • close! very close! that guy, was the voice of comercials during the early 70s im not sure of his name, but he was on all toys, t.v. and movies.

  • I watch this show every day and I even have the whole season on DVD. this show is great.

  • Mój ulubiony serial z dzieciństwa! Byłam zakochana w Adamie!!!

  • I grew up in Southern CA on this show and Emergency! I can remember going to a Car Show at the LA Convention Center and meeting Martin Milner and Kent McCord WITH the ADAM-12 unit ! lol Back in the late 60's and early 70's the LAPD would come to Elementary Schools and do high speed turns and burnouts in their patrol cars... very cool :)

  • Big up to Officer Gus Grant!

  • Martin Milner sure was bringing the everyman hotness in Adam 12.

  • dude i love this freakin tv show

  • This was a spinoff from Dragnet and so was Emergency it was on syndications reruns durin the late 1970s thy sure dont make any good family oriented today

  • i remeber this as a kid. 7 seasons??? i guess TV has changed more then i realized. what LOW production values

  • horrible huh.... god, I'm only 36, this feels like a million years ago

  • seems the thumbs downs are against me. im sure there'll never be a movie for this. Was 'the rookies' this bad too???

  • If I'm thinking correctly, in the early episodes they drove a Plymouth.

  • @bsbl23 You're right! The car was a Plymouth until season 5 when they went to the AMC Matadors.

  • From the first episode noticed a Rambler car parked promently ,usually a brown 2 door model then an American model,a station wagon, now I am aware that a lot of other makes appear to but since I like AMC cars they just stand out,and this was before the series used the Matador as the squad car. Pete even 'owned' a 2 door Matador,he went from the Mustang rag top to that AMC.also noticed a fair amount of AMC's in Dragnet.Wonder if Jack Webb liked AMC's and used them for his shows.hmm

  • early product placement? maybe he was getting paid?

  • i think that until the had a series of disasters they were probably just that popular. think they were least expensive of all. what killed them/ that fishbowl car?

  • I knew they show ran a long time since they were driving the AMC, but *7 years*?? WOW! And Retro Television Network (RTV) only shows a handful of mixed-season episodes. No justice.

  • This show was the best. What ever happened to california? We used to respect the police here when i was a kid. You Did not run from them like they do now, because when they caught you, you got ur ass beat!...lol The liberals got the l.a.p.d. they always wanted, Cant pull over minorities, and cant kick ass. Thank you maxine waters and barbara boxer. Now look at your f-up city. Are you happy now?

Hey!! I miss the helms bakery truck also!!!!

  • That's right! And when the kids got home, they got another ruthless beating from their parents! But don't forget the bad cops that make life hard for the good ones doing their job the right way. One bad cop negates 100 good ones.

  • @barmtrail

In California, if an officer shoots a suspect there are always a bunch of second guessers who will say that he could have done something less lethal despite the fact that the suspect may have pulled a gun, knife or other weapon on the officer. The officer is supposed to think how he can use non lethal methods in the ten second time frame. It doesn't matter that the officer may be killed in that ten seconds, as long as the suspect isn't hurt.

  • one adam twelve one adam twelve . . . two eleven in progress . . .

  • It's now on Retro Television Network in the USA. Check local listings for time and channel.

  • They used to drive AMC cars..

  • I had the Adam 12 lunchbox with a Sigmond and the Seamonsters thermos inside. That thing stunk of chicken soup and bologna.

  • It's a wonder they ever caught anyone driving AMC products. They should have stuck with Mopar's.

  • i see al the theme music has been removed. Copyright stuff I guess?

  • Martin Milner is excelent in this roll. Sexy to ;)

  • Wow forgot about this show!

Way back in the day! I loved

the theme song played in this clip!

At 0:28 he hit the hell out of those

    brakes! Good post!

  • How many times were the people they were looking for right in front of them? That could happen when your writing a script and eating breakfast while your running late! Just a thought.

  • this was a great show

  • You know what really saddens me about this? Can you imagine anyone running a SIXTY SECOND promo for any show today? We've lost something with our faster paced media.

  • Think about this....Can you imagine a popular TV series today where a pair of conscientious uniformed police officers doing their jobs, and doing so to BEST of their abilities are UNAPOLOGETICALLY presented as THE GOOD GUYS?!?!....You know, where we were ROOTING for THEM?...and WITHOUT all of the jelly-kneed, touchy-feely pseudo-moral psychobabble that was ALWAYS seems to be thrust upon us on in CRAP shows like Hill Street Blues?!

    ....Just a thought.

...I look forward to hearing your thoughts

  • Then you should check out "Flashpoint" on CBS Friday nights at 9/8c.

It's not QUITE what you've described here, but you do root for the team. But things are always smooth for them. (And heres an interesting, but little known fact -- the show is actually an import from Canada.)

  • Uh, ever hear of the shows Third Watch, the CSI shows, Flashpoint? All just like Adam-12 and Dragnet (don't forget Dragnet 2006 with Ed O'Neil as Friday!)

  • I'd love to see that. Unfortunately you have a bunch of bozos out in Hollywood who couldn't write a decent crime drama if someone gave them an outline to write it from! Jack Webb wasn't so tied down to the jelly-kneed, touchy-feely psuedo-moral psychobabble that we often have to deal with or these moronic reality shows that dominate the airwaves!

  • why is it not on anymore this was a good show

  • Adam 12 is still in syndication. I watch it M-F at 6pm (est) on RTN (Retro Television Network). This was an awesome show! I grew up watching this, Emergency and many other great shows from that time. RTN also cycles and shows Emergency re-runs as well. Enjoy :o)

    -Keely

  • cool thanks for the network now i don't have to be bored during the day lol

  • You're welcome. I only wish each episode was an hour long instead of 30 min.... it's over in a snap.

  • You can watch it on the RTN network everyday. Or catch the first 4 seasons on Hulu :)

  • GOD...I LOVE THIS SHOW!!!

    Reed is so hott!!

lol...my mom and I both love him.

  • I still think that Kent McCord is hott even though he's 65! Martin Milner was a hottie too, he's 78 now.... hard to belive it. Those were good times!

    -Keely

  • Isn't it amazing that the AMC Matador looks like a Maserati Quattroporte?

  • Now that you mention it, not really. And Maserati Quattroportes aren't used as cop cars in Italy or elsewhere because of the expense.

EDIT: Okay, I've seen the pictures, and now I agree with you. Too bad they don't let Lexus cars be LAPD ones though-they look almost the same!

  • can you upload all the scenes?

  • Why is this all red?

  • It is red because it came from an original network 16mm film that I transferred to DVD.

Old 16mm films that were shot on Kodak film stock often turn red with age. The source film the I used is approaching 40 years old!

  • @ohiofan1989

    was that announcer Don Fontaine?

  • @thefirefighter2011 That was Jack Webb.

  • @ohiofan1989 Thanks for this!

  • @ohiofan1989 if you were to edit this in a nonlinear editor like final cut pro or adobe premier pro or avid media composer you can color correct the video to give it a closer to real look. i feel like that's how Hulu gets them to look fresh, that's where i watch them all. there's 102 episodes of ADAM-12 on hulu

  • I loved this show and I love Kent McCord and Martin Milner! Just started watching Route 66 with Milner, he's great in that too. Looked him up on the Internet, it said that in real life he loves fishing.

  • When Malloy was chasing the guy over the brick wall in this clip, he was chasing a child molester. Malloy catches him, uses excessive force, and gets suspended four days without pay. One standard of most shows is this: "DON'T HURT KIDS!"

  • Our cars, in those days, did not have passenger-door mirrors and tinted windows.

  • What a great classic - good post -

  • this was a realy good one i would like to see it again on tv

  • My late was a young cop when this show was on,now my son in law is a cop.I can not get over how much police work has change. Love the reruns.

  • I just love this show.

  • I LOVE Adam-12, but the dubbed, cartoon-ish tire squeal at 0:27 makes me laugh.

  • Wow, that was "high-geared excitement" after all!

  • as a kid wanted Adam 12 luncch box

  • I still have the metal lunch box it is dented I gave it up in 6th grade for the $6 million dollar man lunch box.

  • Uniformed cops in regular patrol cars don't do stakeouts lol

  • Actually what they're referring to here is more "stakeout support". Uniforms in marked cars DO sit somewhat outside the main stakeout area to prevent suspects from exiting the scene. So they ARE part of the stakeout, just not right at ground zero.

  • Kent McCord lived up the street from me when I was a kid,I was friends with his daughter. One day,she hit me over the head with something on accident, and seeing blood,Kent drove me to the docters in the most amazing blue Corvette.Hero! They were a really sweet family.

  • moonray5: (the Reply button doesn't always work right) Great story. I always thought Kent McCord gave off good vibes. :)

  • Thank you,me too.Their house was cute,it always smelled like cinnamon. He would let us look at the scripts for the show too!

  • but does Adam really have 12, or is it more like 8 measured wrong?

  • Larry and Andy Wachowski, directors of The Matrix placed a funny scene in tribute to them in Matrix Revolution during the freeway chase scene

  • 1-Adam 12 TO 1- Adam 13 go to tack 2

  • wore the badge for 22 yrs as a reserve officer and yes this was the best damn cop show period.Grew up on this and there have been plenty of cop shows but only 1-Adam 12!

  • @nmrh How does being a reserve officer work? And nice only 1-Adam 12 I get it!

  • @counkev HAHAHAHA I was going to say the same thing about how the 1-Adam-12 worked out in that sentence=) Its really too bad that the Police arent like the Police that were portrayed in this show and in Dragnet!! The Police today are nothing but Snake in the Grass Backstabbers!!! And that really SUCKS!!! A Police officer is a person who should be looked up to, and respected!! Not someone who strikes fear and Hatred into peoples hearts!!

  • @joetubealong I got pulled over a 6 months ago for making a right turn on red in Boca Raton Fl. at US-1 and Yamato Rd one night because I couldn't see the No Turn On Red sign because it was covered by a gigantic palm leaf. The officer gave me a warning which I thought was nice of him but before all was said and done he asked me to search my car, so I told him NO and you should have seen the Temper Tantrum this cop had.. It was actually Scary!!! This is what the cops have become!

  • I liked the first 2 seasons the best. Plymouth Satellites with the police package. Those things were like 4 door Road Runners. Dual exhausts, the whole bit. BAD ASS RIDES.

  • You are so right. Those 68&69's set the standard for all cop car to follow to this day. Cheers....

  • Adam 12 in pursuit.

  • inspires people

  • I loved this show as a little girl! I was so in love with "Reed!"

  • how many season where there, because I have not seen these before and I have season one.

  • 1 Adam 12, Roger

  • This promo was designed for both network (mostly through the local affiliates) AND syndicated use, 'ohio'....

  • This was shown on NBC's local affiliates at the beginning of the 1974-'75 season, with audio space at the end for the local announcer to say, 'Watch 'ADAM-12', tonight at 7, on KPEW, Channel 55.".

  • Do you know if this promo was being used for sydication purposes or to promote the first run episodes on a local basis?

  • In SF it was " Go on patrol with Reed & Malloy , tonight at 8 on Channel 4 " .

  • This is great! Do you have more?

  • Adam-12 set the standard for all police shows .

  • I grew up on Adam 12, yes it set standards

  • How come you never see reruns of ADAM 12 on TV? I love that show.

  • The show was shot on frail color stock which quickly faded to the reddish hue seen here. DRAGNET had the same problem.

  • But with today's technology should they be able to clean that up?

  • TV-Land used to show ADAM-12, Dragnet and Emergency, but for some reason they quit showing them years ago. :(

  • They quit showing them because the wanted to make money selling the DVDS. As soon as Emergency sold a jillion copies, they said no more for free and pulled all the shows off the air. No you can only buy the Shows or if you have Netflix you can watch Adam 12 online.

  • Hey, at least the DVD's are unedited!

  • They quit showing them because the wanted to make money selling the DVDS. As soon as Emergency sold a jillion copies, they said no more for free and pulled all the shows off the air. No you can only buy the Shows or if you have Netflix you can watch Adam 12 online.

  • You can see them for free at the Hulu site. The first four seasons at least. It's my understanding that they're unedited.

  • "X Force" is a great episode and one of my favorites where they are chasing down the scum of the earth IMHO.

  • I recognize one of the episodes from season 7 "X Force" where Pete chases down the child molester and then starts hitting at him and slamming him against a wall. The part where the molester sneaks out and then Pete climbs on the roof and chases after him gave it away which episode it was.
