I met Bobby Hull in 1967 as a teenager. I previously wrote him a letter & he personally wrote back to me. I spoke with Bobby on the phone and met him at an exhibition game in Seattle. What a thrill when he came out of the dressing room in uniform to talk with me!
He encouraged me to get a good education first before sports. I always remembered that advice. And I did exactly that.....I became a physician assistant & a registered nurse.
@bardar27 Because he would have had to be some kind of idiot not to. He was approached, asked to name his price, he said a million expecting to be laughed at, and they said 'deal!'. I can't blame him at all.
Well, I'm a life long Chicago resident, and I think things changed when the WHA came along, and Bobby of course took the million that Winnipeg offered and left us, but who could blame him? He never had to deal with the Broad Street Bullies, or the French Connection, or the Big Bad Bruins. I don't hold that against him one bit. This guy gave 150% every time I saw him play. He would've stayed in Chicago for less but Arthur Wirtz would budge on his chincy offer so the Jet became a Jet.
@parkman35 Hull's Hawks were swept by the Big Bad Bruins in the Cup semi-finals in 1970 and played in the NHL through the '72 season, so why did you say Hull never faced the Orr-led Bruins?
@OrrCountry I guess I should've been more specific Orr. I meant in the seasons after he left for Winnipeg. Your Bruins were still pretty darned good then, and we know what Philly and Buffalo were like as well...Montreal was....well Montreal!
Bobby Hull Shared his french fries with my 2 year old son at an autograph signing in Joliet,IL last spring, The man was nothing but nice to the rest of my 5 kids, and signed anything the gave him with out one complaint! todays Hockey play ought to take a page out of Bobby's book! nothing but class when it comes to Bobbby Hull
I agree with him. The rock and sock is what turned me off as well. I don't understand the game though as far as the intricacies like those shift change. But artistically, I like the motion of speed through human obstacles with occasional body blocks.
What inspiring words by Bobby Hull, Mr. Chicago Blackhawk.
It's kinda sad what he said about the Flyers, since I'm a diehard Flyers fan, but as metallica says "sad, but true". It is certainly entertaining to see sports played the right way with love and passion for the game, that these guys displayed. The original Six is responsible for the longevity and the standard of Hockey excellence of the NHL Props to the first six NHL teams and Mr. Campbell for holding it together, that's a true Commish
@ECWnWWF The only things he didn't do right was suspend the Rocket for the rest of the season and the playoffs, along with the fact that he didn't protect his refs like Red Storey after a playoff game that let to him resigning from the NHL.
its not a toupee my uncle and father do business with him, he buys and sells straight back bulls from a company in leslie michigan, my father is on a first name basis with him, in fact mr hull calls my dad by his nickname "shacky" after eddie shack so dont make baseless claims you know nothing about.
In any case, I read a great story about him getting his wig pulled off in a fight while he played in the WHA. The story is in "The Code" by Ross Bernstein. Not exactly baseless.
I have nothing against Bobby, I'm just saying poking fun.
what great knowledge and respect in to the game.. nks 4 opst

If Bobby Hull played for the love of the game, why did he go to the WHA for 1,000,000?

Lets see your head of hair when you reach his age. Without a doubt, I'm sure you'd do the same.

You're right; he has hair plugs now.
