  • MARAVILLOSO!!!, BACH ERES GENIAL!!!

  • It's a joy to watch Harnoncourt!

  • @borchie1986

it's a torture to listen to Harnoncourt

  • hehe nie mehr schuften bin so reich

  • Nice to see a conductor who doesnt make random moves with his arms, but really enjoys himself :). Together with this music = I am heaven. That is probably what Bach intended. So mission accomplished for Bach and Harnoncourt :D

  • I am in heaven*

  • esecuziuone impeccabile.... bravissimo coro

  • hihi wohne in leipzig

  • bravo Heri!!! voll schön...

  • Bach - composer nr 1

  • Sublime! Aaaahhhh Bach!

  • Du bist befreit

    Durch Christi tröstendes Erscheinen

    Von dieser Last und Dienstbarkeit!

Jedoch dein Mund und dein verstockt Gemüte

    Verwschweigt, verleugnet solche Güte;

Doch wisse, daß dich nach der Schrift

    Ein allzuscharfes Urteil trifft!

  • Chor Herz und Mund und Tat und Leben Muß von Christo Zeugnis geben Ohne Furcht und Heuchelei, Daß er Gott und Heiland sei. Part One 2. Rezitativ T Gebenedeiter Mund!
  • Bach and Harnoncourt have been part of my life's most important moments for the last 30 years. This music conncets directly with the soul of us, the Basques.

Bach eta Harnoncourt benetan hunkigarriak dira, euskaldunon izaerarentzat oso egokiak

regards from euskal herria/basque country, Europe`s most ancient culture

  • Where is the Bach of our day to compose the score of our interactions with each other and the Earth; one with so much beauty, skill, harmonious counterpoint, and purpose?

  • @hymnistic Perhaps because Bach was composing the score of our interactions with God. Our interactions with each other and the Earth are warlike, selfish and destructive. There is little beauty to be found there and thus no "Bach of our day" to compose beautiful, skillful harrmonious counterpoint with that purpose.

  • Bach is Joy

  • Excellent!!

  • I found older recordings of Cantata 147 by Nicolas (with leonard), but i wonder if this version was published (buy teldec ?). Where was it ? WHo are the performers ? .. The first time i heard harnoncourt directing it was Mozart requiem (telarc or teldec?) . May Bach bless him forever.

    Thanks for it anyway.

  • Sublime Bach

  • Beau à couper le souffle!

  • Oh heck. This video was picked out for me. It says the group most likely to enjoy this comprises males 45-54 in Germany. I am in America but have a German last name.

  • Harnoncourt is like the Old Testament for us, baroque players! He is great, the same like Kujikeen brothers, Leonhardt, Bruggen...

  • The conductor looks very merry! Really like the depth and sonority that the musicians are able to achieve (able to hear the middle voices and lower voices very clearly... tone was not too bright; trumpets did not sound too over-powering)

  • Bachs' pieces are celestial!

  • Can someone please tell me the name of the instrument to the left at 0:09? Thanks!

  • @ultrabot90 Oboe

  • @saturn6990 Thank you! =D

  • Easy to understand why Bach has earned the title "The Fifth Evangelist."

  • Che bello dirigere un'orchestra così !!!

  • Just to look at the faces of those in the choir say ALL that Bach meant to say with the music. It is all so lovely.

  • E' pura gioia!

  • Which orchestra is it???

  • @professor13100 Concentus Musicus Wien

  • In 1975 I began to learn German. In 1977 I visited Heidelberg for a week because I had seen 'The Student Prince' in the 1950s.

In July 1981 I spent 2 weeks in Leipzig. On a sunny day at an open air Bach concert outside the Thomaskirche I became a devotee of that great Lutheran genius.

I am still besotted and this is my favourite performance of my favourite Bach cantata.

Pure joy, a foretaste of paradise itself.

    Wunderbar!

Grande Harnonocurt!

  • Execução divina! How can I stop crying?

  • It is late Saturday night. Holy smokes tomorrow is Sunday! Got to write something for the choir! Another cantata was born..

    Genial!!

  • i love bach's poppy shit. so damn catchy

  • Where was this recorded?

  • What might choir-singers felt, when performing Bach?

  • good

  • Too beautiful! it makes me cry...what would life be without this music? Du edle Kunst...

  • I love BACH!

  • @jrworde I love too.

  • This is one of the most worderful and inspiring musical works ever written.

    Bach for ever!

  • Einfach genial!

  • I can fully agree with the last comment

  • Fantastic! This sounds wonderful with a large choir.

  • Apokalyptisch, extrem WUNDERBAR!!! UNDERBAR!!! UNA MERAVIGLIA!!!! WONDERFUL!!!! MEIRVEILLEUX!

  • wunderbar!!!!!!!!!

  • Choral from Cantata No.147 by Johann Sebastian Bach (BWV 147-1). Conducted by Nikolaus Harnoncourt. Highest Quality.

(If you have only little time, don't miss 147-7. It is a masterpiece of choir-singing and playing - and conducting!)

Merci Bach!

Ehlas! En Italie on le connait trop peu.....

  • BWV 147-1

Herz und Mund und Tat und Leben

    Muss von Christo Zeugnis geben

    Ohne Furcht und Heuchelei,

Dass er Gott und Heiland sei.

  • ahah...nice!

  • It might be "hmm individual", but it works: for him, for me and obviously for most of the world.

  • I don't see anything that indicates it working "obviously" for most of the world. Frankly, I doubt the number of people that know who Nikolaus Harnoncourt is number in even the tens of millions, let alone over 3 billion in accord.

Leave your hyperboles for poetry, please.

  • Don't you hear it works? "Individual tehnicque" is nothing strange in the world of music. A lot of famous conducters had and still have some weird motions, but it doesn't matter if it helps them to express their feeling of music and make the performance better.

  • straodinario Harnoncourt

  • davvero una bellissima esecuzione..

  • Need to be more optimistic ?

    Just listen Bach, this cantata

  • does it work?

  • Can anybody tell me where is possible to get a DVD with the whole concert? And where it was performed?

  • why do all my videos keep getting removed :(

    Ils peuvent faire mieux

  • The conductor is Harnoncourt, isn't he? Perfect!

  • Simply a perfect Bach!

  • That is really music, or not?

    Chief

  • Music is superhuman, performance is prodigious, and choir sings as angels in heaven. It's impossible to listen nothing more perfect. Thank you, Mr. Harnoncourt. My spirit is calmer after to hear it.

  • Beautiful performance, and such a pleasure to watch the conductor too.

  • He never fails to amaze me. It gives me a feeling I cannot describe. It is secure happiness: a state in which you feel very uplifted and are confident that you will stay so. No other composer can do that for me, not even Mozart.

Bach combines emotion with reason and his music is truly phenomenal and timless. He has been the inspiration of many composers, including Beethoven (to answer pierrovah!) His works are full of emotion, joy for life and a sensibility that is very rare

  • It has never been my intention to impress you. I was merely writing down my feelings.

  • It's good to see you've got a sense of humour! Indeed, you are (pleasantly) mad on your own terms.

  • btw, It would take me a lot more to "lay bare my soul" and I certainly wouldn't share these with people on the net

  • live long and prosper ;)

  • @firebreathone has got it exactly right. I love Mozart, Vivaldi and a host of other wonderful composers but none do exactly as our correspondent says so well. Papa Bach.

  • @firebreathone completely agree with you. Most of the time I cannot stop crying when I listen to Bachs music. He reaches my inner soul core with his astonishing music, nothing like Bach for me either.

  • @firebreathone

I could agree more. Strong words.

  • @firebreathone

I couldnt agree more. Strong words.

  • This version is great! As Harnoncourt himself! The only "mistake" I find in it it's due to the production...following the logic of the whole piece, they should have shown the Bass' section at 00.53, not again Sopranos!

  • Absolutely gorgeous. Thanks for posting these.

Jeder kann was anderes mögen ;)...

  • komposizieren?

  • phenomenal

  • does anyone know what the trumpet with finger holes is called?

I've never seen anything like it!

  • It is simply called a 'trumpet', or, a 'natural trumpet'.

  • Most Excellent!

  • Excellent performance, finally a decent tempo and not a rush-job (which seems to be in vogue these days!)...

  • At 01:10-30 "von Christo Zeugnis geben", Harnoncourt gave vivid gestures in corresponse to both the musical structure and the lyrics. Excellent!
