  • What happens when you come across a dwang in the wall? Perfect for the older houses with no dwangs though

  • This really is impressive. We need to get ourselves one of these!

  • I NEVER KNEW! Gotta' get me one of those! I'm tired of my crappy 300N+ wireless!

  • Wow great info and product, Thanks

  • Holy crap will that save so much time, where can I buy one?

  • @MGiants82 CLICK THE SHOW MORE BUTTON AND THERE IS A URL TO WHERE TO PURCHASE - THX

  • @cochise7969 Thanks, I meant to say that will save me so much time.

  • Wow a very clever idea

  • @cochise7969 ... by "drilling" that close to the drywall LINING -- you also run the severe risk -- of some silly person (later- probably even yourself) banging Picture Hanging NAILS - through the drywall (AND THUS - through the cabl;e thats NOW against that drywall lining .. thus livening the picture hook .. that you "now" somehow WANT to touch (& frazzle yourself to death with)

  • In NZ (and also in Australia too - as we have joint Aust/NZ Electrical Wiring "standards") ... it is a requirement - that ALL down wall cable installs ... are RUN .. down the exact centre .. of both Dwangs & fibreglass batts .. such that the cable - is as far as practicable .. AWAY from any later - client driven "Picture_Frame" or Shelving screws & fixing nails - or "lining" support / fixing nails etc. (Thus effectively reducing ANY accidental Electrical shorting .. by having cables pierced)

  • Hahaha- Well? That system MAY work in the USA.! But here in NZ you would have a wee problem there (me boy_oh) In NZ- we have horizintal wooden DWANGS (about 4 per 8ft wall). To go through them- U either drill down the wall BEFORE lining & fibreglass batts GO_IN (or CAP & CASE down "outside" the wall) OR- dig a hole above & below every DWANG & chisel bypass chs in the dwangs & later GIBSTOP those access holes- until you get your cable- down near the floor level (where the outlet socket will go).

  • Try my apt build, 1 inch thick concrete drywall slabs with a wire mesh backing ..nightmare

  • @freakyflow Oh - U think "that's tough .. Try Central Otago "shist" rock .. (two foot thick - solid rock walls - often just with MUD mortar - others with concrete mortar .. ALL stones laid horizontal .. (such that it's like feeding steak to Sharks - with a toothpick - almost an impossibility)

  • any good tips for getting cables through when every wall in your house is thick solid brick??

  • @thfreakinacage Dynamite?

  • @dbeidesign If you mix Dynamite with this install it might be a fire hazard ;)

  • @thfreakinacage Yep- run PVC Cap & Casing down "whichever" SIDE of the wall most convenient to use. If it's an outside wall- then OUTSIDE- use PVC UV "stabilsed" PIPEWORK- whereas inside use "asthetically_pleasing" colour co-ordinated Cap & Casing (or simply use std Cap & Casing & simply paint to suit after the install) Plus it's so much easier than trying to masonry_drill the whole way DOWN - through concrete "blocks"- that probably also have "in_fill" reinforcing rods (backfilled with mortar)

  • Nice video but you forgot to show how to get pass the fire block thats usually located in the middle or the wall.

  • @itsmegino THANK YOU! Fireblocks are a bitch to deal with....now I actually own a magnepull and it ONLY works on a non insulated wall. Its a VERY strong magnet but its NOT strong enough to pull through real insullation. What you seen in the vid was lightly packed and not typical of what youd find in a home. A good fishtape is best, period.

  • You can use the pull string and fish tape way. The rich people tool is just a labor saver.

  • Is there another way to do this without the fancy rich people tools?

  • @TheChemist187 Yep- good 'ole "Knuckle Knocking". Just Knuckle knock the wall to "find" each dwang (or whatever YOU call horizontal "cross frame" members) & KNUCKLE PUNCH access holes- in the fibre board- above & below each horizontal- so you can get your whole hand inside the wall to FORCE FEED the wire between these horizontals & simply use a wood chisel to make a bypass through the horizontal until U are far enough down the wall.(remembering- that knuckle holes will need to be plastered over)

  • It's a big move! These get mostly sold for residential installations and some commercial but not as much.

  • THAT IS THE MOVE!!!!!!!!!!
