Americans of all races, we can no longer be divided by our skin color. This is our country we must protect it! We must advance it! We can no longer spend money at places like Wal-Mart that send thousands of dollars to foreign countries. Of course you may say its Cheaper, but is it really? Next time you by something at Wal-Mart think about all those American jobs that are lost buy your dollar going overseas!
As gray, dreary and depressing as I remember it. Especially Lake Street, if any bridge would collapse I would have expected that one. So many hours stuck, commuting in traffic and waiting for those infernal lights to change.
Great Video - I just saw a similar one for Ottawa, Canada which was a response to yours. I was wondering what program did you use to speed up the video and also what kind of camera mount did you use in the car?
Thanks. I remember that video. It was one of the first timelapse drives on youtube.
For the video I use windows movie maker and add the double speed effect a few times. At the time I taped the camera to my dash but now I just tape it to the mirror. What ever works best for your car really.
Thanks for this video. I am researching my family members who lwft ireland to lived in university ave back in 1902. Their name was Lennon from Armagh in Ireland. I am so pleased to see where they lived. I hope to visit someday soon. This video has made me feel closer to them. many thanks. Sarah in the UK
yeeaaaa!!!! i love minneapolis im from mexico but minneapolis is a such a nice pleace to live love it!! also the people are so nice as hell, im coming soon, so im so exciting, minneapolis MN rifa. the best
this summer, i probably come to minneapolis, but i don't know how it's the life in this city, i'm french and i really want to find an us city where i can have fun , is minneapolis good for that? thanks
I love Minneapolis. 17th biggest metro in the U.S. Biggest mall. 5th Biggest Airport in the U.S. Lots of stuff to do. Second biggest University may i add lol.
I thought it was the 16th biggest metro? I don't know, I found it kind of boring at times, but maybe it's because I'm from there. I like going back when I can, though. Actually, you don't appreciate a place until you move for a couple of years because when I left I was like "finally." But, I'm moving back next summer and will asy the same thing when I move back.
How did you hang the camera from the windshield? Or how did you attach it, paste it, stick it? I tried with my Sony Cyber Shot W55, but couldn't do it.
Very nice video! I love Minneapolis! Unfortunately, I haven't ever lived in any other metropolitan areas, so I can't really compare it to anywhere. I've visited other cities, just not for anything longer than 2 weeks.
I live just around the corner from 2:47. Unlike some commenters, I am not quite so enamored with this city. I'd happily trade places with anyone living in NYC, for example...anyone...anyone...Beuller...Beuller....
It good to leave for a while. I've lived all over the country and haven't lived in Minneapolis for 8 years. I think I'm ready to move back, but give me a moment and I'll probably move again. I really don't miss the cold there. New York is kind of fun, but gets really old. The western states like Colorado and northern California is where it's at. Not L.A. though. "You betcha don't you know."
Man, it's been like 6 months now and I STILL have not found that song "Tune" by ATB. I have check online EVERYWHERE. Any chance you know where to get it? I don't think Sam Goody is around anymore. Interested in selling your CD? haha
This city is the most underrated city in the US. MSNBC ranked it 6th most underrated in 2007. I think this city is a hidden secret and the weather that people stereotype about is not much different than Chicago through the seasons. I have been to 10 major metropolitan cities and this is the best city to enjoy yourself through all 4 seasons. People could not have been more friendly to me and everything is so conveniently located. Dang it I want to live here.
I fucking LOVE Minneapolis... I've lived there almost all my life, and I've lived all over the western suburbs: Brooklyn Park, Plymouth, New Hope, Crystal, Hopkins, Saint Louis Park... it's so fun to cruise through downtown Minneapolis and Saint Paul at night. Love the skyline. I just moved from Minneapolis to Peoria, IL. Watching this video made me cry. I can't recall how many times I've gone down Lake Street or through downtown.... BEST CITY EVER! I MISS YOU MINNESOTA!!!
Is this timelapse, or just sped-up? If actually timelapse, what was the camera you used? I have a Sony, but it only does like "2 seconds every 30 seconds," when 1 frame every second would be useful. Since this a tape-based cam, that would be probably be hell on it.
This is a great video, I remember the days when I could drive around Mpls like that before gas was $3.65 a gallon, but all in all it's a damn great vid.
Dude very cool flick, the TC is an awesome area and I love going there every weekend. People need to realize and (live) the area to really get the feel.

a very ugly city. i thought it was cold there. where is the snow?? north carolina>minnesota. what a weak ass city and state. no wonder everyone up north is moving here.
you're dumb. note: added april 9th, therefore, snow melted, trees not having leaves yet. this video doesn't show the city scape of minneapolis or st paul, which are awesome metro areas, nor does it show the river. the mississippi that is (it's one of the longer rivers in the country). and by the by, everyone i've met from north carolina has been a racist piece of shit. not saying everyone down south is, but it sure as shit doesn't bode well for y'all.
You can't talk shit about any state. YOU'RE FROM THE SOUTH!!! Please spread your opinion about Minnesota to all of your friends. They won't come here and it will be much more quiet. Just the way I like it, no tourists bothering me.
you can see my DUI lawyer's office on south sixth street Hennepin Ave. 45th flooor Multifoods Tower... Mitchell A. Robinson Attorney at law, Best DUI lawyer in Minnepolis...
The building my grandma had her first job in is here, my mom lives near lake street, my first job is shown, the store I hung out at as a kid, my moms old work, my elementary, the dance studio I take classes at is a half a block away at one point, my apartment is a block away, most of my classes at the U are right on University, I ate lunch in a building shown here just today. I love this. Thank you.
I've only been to MPLS a few times, but this video reminds me of those times driving around that city. Really beautiful place, would like to live there someday...

this video makes me happy love the music i moved to milwaukee when i was like 7 and ive been fucked over here alot and im thinkin of moving back to Minneapolis to feel at home. THANKS
Minneapolis is a wonderful city despite the extreme weather. The city itself isn't too large and there are many neibrhoods in Minneapolis proper that have both an urban and a suburban feel...especially around Lake Harriet. I use to live in Minneapolis..I still have family who lives there. great clean city with friendly people.
yes that is a horrible inccident. i dont know how many times ive taken that bridge. im about 3 miles away from there in Roseville. im glad minnesota (minneapolis) is able to stay strong and show how much we care by helping out anyway we can!
Nice video. Lived in Mpls years ago, but the Lake st. sequence took me right back to the days of riding the bus through those stop lights. I think you went past where I used to work at E. Lake and 29th, next to a bar called the Poodle. & I miss Uptown.
Should you ever rework it, maybe editing down the wait at the stoplights along Lake st. might give that part a bit more flow and pop? Great stuff, nonetheless.:]
I'm just really impressed with how you timed certain moments with the music, like when turning onto Hennepin, and the green light at the church just past Franklin. Was that planned, or amazingly good luck?
I get all my good weed from south Minneapolis (when I lived there) and all my good coke from a dealer in St Paul off University. Brings back memories. Maybe I should move back.
There are so many stop lights because Minneapolis is run by Democrats and Democrats are all morons.
Seriously, it can take you 20 minutes to drive 2 miles in Minneapolis because of all the damn traffic lights. They aren't short, either. Waiting 2 minutes or longer is common.
Nice vid. I love "what I saw on a drive" vids. You should drive throught downtown mpls during lunchtime.
Lol!!! An interesting approach making this a response for the brilliant Karen Spricket's booty video!!! It does makes sense though - hers is Minneapolis themed too! (those hotpants certainly are) and 20000 hits in two days recieved on hers could be a flow on to this - and vids responding for this one!!!
Anyway I like this vid, esp with how the cityscape rapidly changes - I'll be doing similar ones where I am again soon...
If you're interested in timelapse videos, have a look at my profile. I've got a few on there. One of the Panama Canal, and a couple of the Vancouver SkyTrain. My username is 'radiofreebc'.

Should you ever rework it, maybe editing down the wait at the stoplights along Lake st. might give that part a bit more flow and pop? Great stuff, nonetheless.:]

The bridge that collapsed was near that bridge, but it was the highway (35W) not a city street.

is the bridge u crossed over the one that just collapsed like 4 hours ago

That was the third street bridge a few blocks west.

I miss the little apple so much. Lots more for locals there than most of florida...

Oh yes, so clearly the Mini Apple. I miss that place and all of our dear friends there (but we don't miss the winter!)

Oh, sure, that's Minnesota alright. I could tell by all the orange road construction signs.

I loved the video. I've been hundreds of times through those roads. Minneapolis-St. Paul I MISS YOU!

I thought of moving out once but everyone who moves here says it dont get any better. Lucky to be born here I guess.

I'll tell you one thing! As good as it is now, as soon as the Twins and the Vikings have their own, outdoor stadiums, it will be that much better.

wow, sped up a little more and it would have the feel of the game f zero x.

I'm just really impressed with how you timed certain moments with the music, like when turning onto Hennepin, and the green light at the church just past Franklin. Was that planned, or amazingly good luck?
davis027umn 4 years ago
I planned it to fit on the hen/lyn intersection but 2:34 and 4:40 were a cosmic coincidence.

I get all my good weed from south Minneapolis (when I lived there) and all my good coke from a dealer in St Paul off University. Brings back memories. Maybe I should move back.

Geeze, there were so many stop lights. Nice Vid though!
Cokobongo 4 years ago
There are so many stop lights because Minneapolis is run by Democrats and Democrats are all morons.
Seriously, it can take you 20 minutes to drive 2 miles in Minneapolis because of all the damn traffic lights. They aren't short, either. Waiting 2 minutes or longer is common.
Nice vid. I love "what I saw on a drive" vids. You should drive throught downtown mpls during lunchtime.
dirtyfraudsandliars 4 years ago
you should have driven through north minneapolis and picked up a sack. or done it at night so we could see the hookers on lake street.

The weed from the suburbs is much more kind.
eluko79 4 years ago
make it a sack of rock then. either way though I imagine you are right.
