4:44= I wonder if they already had smart bombs in 1961. Somehow I kind of doubt it. Portable transponders might have helped & I wouldn't be surprized if such devices existed now.
7:39..I doubt a Normally aspirated Cessna 210 can climb that steep & fast at Flight Level 200. Always helps to tilt the cam & later speed up the film. lol
Score in 7:39 sounds like a score played in Sea Hunt. You can sure tell they're both Ivan Thor shows. Did the 2 shows really interchange characters? I was told that, but a list of respective episodes on IMdB didn't reflect that.
Why did they wear all that snow gear on board the (presummably) heated Cessna 210 if they couldn't take it out to the ski lodge? Also Red Dog II said FL210 would put them 1k above the clouds, but Ted McGeever said they''d BREAK OUT A that altitude. I think. I could hurt myself that way.
NOT the Brady Bunch! Tired of them and Lucy. This show, The Whirlybirds, Sky King would be great replacements, along with weekly episodes of Casey Jones.
@hertzair I noticed that myself (or maybe a B-50 cockpit). Seems to me you also go on oxygen immediately above 10,000 ft. The guys in the Cessna would have passed out long before they hit 20,000 ft without it.
I remember watching this show and another one called Whirlybirds. It's been a lifetime ago and I got the two shows confused. I knew that Ken Curtis played in one of them. Thanks for posting this. I sat in front of the tv with my family watching these great shows. Somehow tv just isn't as much fun now as it was back then. I wish TV Land would re-run some of these great shows instead of some of the so called 'classics' now being run. How many times can you sit through the Bradys, Andy, and Lucy?
I may partially retract #2. B52 Reed Dog 2 sounds legit. But in the Ripcord book of a suspiciously similar stoty, I thought I recalled them doing that too.
1) Don't fly w/out a parachute. 2)Never fly in 749X, & 3) Bombers use make & model as a call sign.lol Also 4) Women & children never panic in the sky.
They should've alerted the local CAP unit.

The most difficult part of this : Putting the jump gear inside a Cessna with 3 people on board...

@canals22 Exactly. A bit too cramped! And why are they flying above the mountains in holiday clothes!

Was "mayday" a term in the early 1960's?

Whirlybirds, Ripcord and Sea Hunt on an old TV with a little screen. Those were the days.

What was the point of winter wear if they weren't going to jump w/ it on?

Lessons I learned from watching Ripcord.
