@darkapaul there's no rule that says the judges have to be more skilled than the actual competitors themselves. they're only there to rate them. i can think of plenty of events where the competitors were doper than the judges (although that's not always the case)

@mechwarrior13 I totally see where you're coming from, but have you ever considered playing devils advocate? In the 70s and 80s bboys had to be fresh, had to know how to dance and rock the floor. Now in 2010 they don't? Imo the moves have progressed, but the dance has faded and dumb down. Having power never made anyone a bboy, this generation has it twisted. Punisher had some of the most explosive of all time , but would still get roasted by the likes of Kenny 10 battles out of 10.

@IamtheSamis lol all i practice is toprock i love the dancing but i dont have power for shit and thats y i respect powerheads even more. yea i can make up a million moves in footwork but i'll never be able to do an airflare. i do respect style but its all about biting someone and do it better, more variations etc. theres just way too many generic but good bboys out there, but now even the average power is like airflare combos, they got work so much harder to be even close to being good

@IamtheSamis What the heck are you talking about. These are 3 outta the millions of dancers out there. To be honest in the 70 and 80's I didn't see much dancing back then. Especially in the 80 and 90's. In early 2000's till now was when I started to see bboys actually dancing to the music. Todays bboys like Born, Machine, Flying Buddah, Lilou, all dance to the music better than bboys from the 70's and 80's. The dance has not faded. Just some choose to focus on one part of the dance.

Your problem is the same most have, instead of embracing the dance for what it is you're dictating what it you believe / want it to be. Unless it's actually to the music. Rocksteady also didn't dance much back then and they would be considered a crew that focused more on the essence. They danced more I'll give em that, but still not allot compared to bboys now.

When they did dance with their uprocking, it was only for a short period of time that they were on beat. After that when they did other sets they were off beat. Now it's like Mandatory to toprock on beat. I only started to see real beat riding in early 2000. Even watch battle of the year battles from early 90's till 2000. Just battles not showcase. In showcase they danced.

You'll see that nowadays bboys are rocking the beats more and playing with the music. Back in the 80's there was not much of that at all. Yes of course it's the times and they did inspire many bboys today and they paved the way. Not taking that away. But for anyone to say bboys don't dance now will be proven wrong in the clips I mentioned
