Those kind of punches should be a crime. He could have killed that guy, and if he did end up dying as a result of this fight due to blows to the head, then it should be ruled voluntary manslaughter instead of an involuntary ring fatality because that punch would have clearly been the factor which resulted in his demise. It is the referee's responsibility to officiate the fight. The referee failed to recognize the KO in time and because of this and this alone the KOd boxer was exposed to unnecessary punishment. It is not the fighter's responsibility to officiate the fight. NOT a sucker punch. That being said, I think the punch was in very bad taste and the puncher showed that he is a person of very little character.

All in all, no one can be 100% sure because we're not in his head so we don't know completely.

Those kind of punches should be a crime. He could have killed that guy, and if he did end up dying as a result of this fight due to blows to the head, then it should be ruled voluntary manslaughter instead of an involuntary ring fatality because that punch would have clearly been the factor which resulted in his demise. Extreme respect to all boxers because unfortunately things like this happen. RIP Francisco "Paco" Rodriguez and Levander Johnson!

I saw this live. No way was this a sucker punch. Ref hadn't stopped the fight and he had already dropped him twice. It was definitely a finishing blow

It is the referee's responsibility to officiate the fight. The referee failed to recognize the KO in time and because of this and this alone the KOd boxer was exposed to unnecessary punishment. It is not the fighter's responsibility to officiate the fight. NOT a sucker punch. That being said, I think the punch was in very bad taste and the puncher showed that he is a person of very little character.

Not a sucker punch at all.. they are told to protect themselves at all times, he didn't. The ref hadn't stopped the fight up until then... he did a fine job.

Yeah, MMA rules are kinda the same. You only stop when the ref tells you verbally or physically. Verbally here did not work... I've seen it go bad for the fighter who stops and the stunned guy comes back and wins.

@ehill1536 yes but this is not MMA, listen I train and fight in both boxing and MMA, the ropes held him up from falling, this is a knockdown, the ref did not need to tell the other guy not to punch him, he consciously decided to break the rules and hit him, it may have been heat of the moment but this was very bad, the ref got there as fast as he could, its a bad shot though and knock outs like that are ones that ruin careers

I can see how that happened. When you're in the zone you usually don't think, you do. It would've been nice if it could have been avoided, but you can't hate on him for doing that.
All in all, no one can be 100% sure because we're not in his head so we don't know completely.
And if anything was in the other dude's head, it got knocked out good.
