blackhawk is excellent quality. It wouldn't be in the GSA catalog if it was pure trash. The level 1 serpa is awesome. I use it for law enforcment and on deployment. It allows you to put your entire hand around the grip before you take it out. Good stuff. Hey there popcorcoolie, you get what you pay for. I guess if all you do is airsoft then your life doesn't really depend on it and you can get away with cheap gear. If you're going to the real world and want good stuff blackhawk has it.

I'm joining the Rangers in a year and I have a question- When you are deployed, do you get to select what type of vest and what pouches to use? Or is everything issued to you, and you wear what they give you?

You'll get basic MOLLE II issue when you go to CIF, it's a rifleman's kit and comes with two shingles, three mag pouches, an FLC and two general purpose pouches. When you hit your unit they can issue kits for Machine gun, m203 and M9. Some units order their entire kits from companies like blackhawk and Tactical tailor. Ranger Bats usually have their own kits to issue. Hope that helps dude. Good luck.

Blackhawk is alright but you can get something just as good for much less. Blackhawk is as mentioned... overrated Some of their stuff is just junk. Like the SERPA holsters. The heavy duty SERPA's are alright but the one pictured in the video is junk. I prefer to keep it simple. Some people want to strap everything they can find to their vest. I would rather have the armor seperate because if I had to ditch the load I would still have the armor.

Tactical Tailor, High Speed Gear Inc. and Eagle Industries manufacture much better gear that's not ripped off from other companies' designs.

Um I happen to shoot/train weekly and I can say that while BHI have dropped most of it's terms of domestic production, it's still none the less good gear.. I've never had any problems with my own gear and I've worked my loadout pretty hard..

And WTF? Tactical Tailor is shit, I bought a chest rig from em and the stitching was so shoddy, most of it popped out, HSGI and Eagle are great companies but TT's sweatshop garbage worse than BHI.. And Everyone rips off everyone, who cares..

Dude DT can get pretty shoddy... A friend of mine bought some of their gear and the zag stitching on the first 2 levels of PALS popped on him during a mag change in a snap fire drill (NOT airsoft)...

I myself've used Blackhawk and I've never had any problems...

Personally if I was an operator and I was allowed to pick and choose the gear I wanted to wear I'd go with a company that was less concerned with marketing and more concerned with putting out kit geared more towards functionality first. In other words, I'd go either with a smaller company, or make friends with the MAT-Techs (materials technitians).
