Its funny how arrogant Boeing can be. When Airbus first started as a small company, Boeing thought that they wouldn't last, now Boeing has struggled to survive against Airbus during some years. Ive got to say if i was ever in an emergency I would rather be in a Boeing designed aircraft. In an emergency situation the Airbus design could end up restricting the pilot from doing what needs to be done. For example the Gimli glider(Air Canada 767) had to go beyond the aircrafts limits to make it down safely after loosing both engines. As far is i know the Airbus aircraft would not allow the pilot to do that. So when it comes down to it Boeing will always be better then Airbus in my opinion

The pilot can override the Airbus computers by pressing a few buttons and then the flight limits are removed. But the plane won't override the pilot unless the pilot really messed up like getting into a stall. There was a A330 (Air Transat) that lost fuel over the Atlantic ocean and had to glide to the Azores. That plane now holds the world's longest glide distance in a commercial jet, even longer than the Canadian 767. So it proves that Airbus is safe in emergencies.

Ah ok... but the airbus systems have also caused crashes. For example the Paris air show. A brand new a320 was doing some low flybys. The Pilots tried to pull up to avoid terrain however, the plane was under the impression the pilots were trying to land so canceled the TOGA. 8 incidents similar to this happened in the 90's. So the Airbus systems themselves have caused loss of life Boeing systems to my knowledge haven't. The remarkable thing about the a330 was it had a full payload..impressive

Also I am not saying the Airbus aircraft are not safe they are quite safe however, I personally believe that Boeing's design is much safer in the sense that the pilot has more control over what the aircraft does. For example look at the difference in between Boeing's version of flyby wire and Airbuses version.

The A320 pilots were doing a maneuver that is not normally done during normal airline ops so i can see why the computer messed up. But because of that accident, the computer has been improved and pilots override it during abnormal maneuvers such as the A320's maneuver. Boeing or Airbus is not more safe than the other, its up to the pilot and hopefully a competent pilot is on board.

And the Airbus Alpha Floor computer in the Airbus could have prevented an accident like American 965, the 757 that slammed into a mountain in South America due to crew error. Also why did Boeing only put FBW in the 777? I heard crews saying the Airbus FBW is a godsend during crosswind landings and other situations.

That is true if the crew were alerted to the speedbrakes being extended it might have saved them. People do say even without the speed brakes extended the plane would not have made. The 777 to my knowledge was released after the release of FBW. So Boeing decided to reduce the workload of pilots with it. However it is a different model of FBW. When it comes down to it, its the pilot's that decides whether its a safe aircraft or not.

Well, you were talking about range. You said that the A340 has a longer range than any of Boeing's aircraft. This is simply not true as the 777-200LR has the longest range of all passenger jets.

The A340 and the B777 are direct competitors, so you can't compare those two very well.

At the introduction the A340-500 was the longest range aircraft, so you might have seen a documentary about that. But later Boeing introduced the 777-200LR with an even longer range.
