@curiousandlooking Thank you very much!!! :D but to answer that question, no don't leave on until dry, remember you want hair wet or moist enough to shake/seperate your curls.
Your hair is beautiful! I'm going to try this, too. You wrote that drying times will vary (of course), but how long do you typically let yours dry? I'd like an idea of how long I should keep it banded so that I don't take it down too soon or too late. My hair is finer/thinner than yours, but mine is also a little longer. I'll probably start with maybe half or three-fourths of the time that you use, and then make adjustments from there, as necessary.
@EversBaByGirl I'm not really sure because as my hair grows out, it seems to change. I always thought that it was 4a,4b, but I'm not really good at that typing stuff! lol :)
I've decided to go back natural... the whole shrinkage was one of the major reasons why i relaxed in the first place. and it seems not many people on here have that much shrinkage after washing. I'm definitely going to try this when i grow out my relaxer :) ... although i'll probably be waiting for another 5 years for this to grow out :|
@jaylicious1 You're very much welcomed! & Super congrats on your decision to go back natural!..& yes, sometimes the shrinkage can be discouraging, but it can be defeated! & although you're waiting to grow out your relaxer, you're doing a smart thing by learning as much as you can now, so when you're ready to care for your natural hair, you'll already know what to do. Keep me posted & Hhg! ;)
I've never actually tried banding and my hair isn't as long as yours, but I guess I'll band my hair in four sections as opposed to your one. I can't wait to try this!
@KayMay1224 Thank you! ..& your concept is right on! because as long as you have an idea of what you need to do to combat the shrinkage, you can be creative & work with any length. Sometimes, when I'm not wearing a wng & just want a lil more length, I'll have about 6-8 banded to get the length. Please post me with your results. :)
@CoolCoilyCurly I'm not sure how long your hair is, but there's two ways to get around that. First, after slicking hair back, you can use "duck bill clips or those small hair combs, it doesn't have to be anything fancy, because you just need something to secure hair down for a lil while just to stretch your hair. : )
Greatly detailed video, I do the same exact thing! banding is definately a great method for naturals, sometimes I cant believe it took me almost a year to discover it lol...thank for sharing ;-)
@NaturallyNike Thank you!..& you know, it took me forever to figure it out too! lol. :^) What really made me think about it for a wng, was when I tried it while experimenting before doing a twist & braidout. I really loved the effect it gave & especially because it was heatless, so a lil light bulb came on concerning trying it for a wng & I'm glad I tried it because it seems like my hair shrinks 99% lol.
Oh wow! Thanks for sharing this video girl! I am going to try this because i won't do this because of the shrinkage but i am going to try it for sure this summer. Thanks!!!
You are not going to believe this, but I did a similar procedure last night and got similar results. I used different products and I pull it back. Girl, you are definitely on to something. I really did. Thanks. I am favoriting this video.
@cowgirldefrost Omg! that is ironic huh! but you know, I find that extra step cuts back shrinkage a WHOLE lot! & I thank you very much for favoring my vid! :)
This works well, but because you had a great cut to begin with your method takes your styling to the next level.;)

@temickab I'm not into hair typing, but if you have a major problem with shrinkage, it's worth giving this technique a try. Hope this helps. :)

What's your hair type? looks like a 3c. Your curls seem looser than 4 category curls.
