The space elevator won't work IMO. The best it could do is -- not spend energy lifting rocket fuel by carrying the energy up the ribbon.

If its principle is to climb the ribbon like a rope, equal but opposite reaction says your just going to decay to orbit of your anchor -- and so you need the same energy to restore it -- otherwise you have an over unity device.

This means the height can vary, or more precisely it has to be much higher than the current space stations. But the animation in the video is kinda misleading... as the narration clearly says "62000 miles" that's 15 times of the earth's radius.
