Tabla tarang part was played by Guruji himself. The others were Pandit Kanai Dutta, Dilip Chattterjee (who died very early), Pandit Shyamal Bose. Na dhi Dhi na part was specifically played by Pandit Shyamal Bose as my knowledge goes.
As a matter of fact I am a very tiny shrimp here to evaluate or comment on the musical contribution of Guruji (Pandit Gnan Prakash Ghosh) to the whole fraternity of Indian Classical Music. Pandit Shankar Ghosh, Pandit Anindya Chatterjee, Pandit Sanjay Mukherjee and other disciples of Guruji (who are still alive) could elaborate this better than us. And who were those amazing players!!!!!! We are so unlucky that we have no chance to listen them live again.
This is an innovative composition of Great Pandit Gnan Prakash Ghosh, the guide of all tabla players of West Bengal and India who enriched tabla with his enormous knowledge on Indian Classical Music. This piece is hopefully the first experiment of Tabla Tarang which was a brain child of guruji.
Wow, probably the first through composed tabla solo for ensemble that has really blown me away!!!
I'll admit that I was skeptical at first, but then about 40 seconds in, I heard a paran gat that I've only ever heard or learned from my guruji Pt Anindo Chatterjee (a well known disciple of Jnan Prakas Ghosh). Very cool to hear this!!! Thank you so much uploading! Is Gnan Babu actually playing tabla on this, or is it his composition only?
Also, do you know who is playing the tabla tarang part?
@tablajazz Thank you for your kind words. I do not know who did the Tabla Tarang part. As far as I know, Panditji played Tabla on this track since the artiste of the track is in his name. If not, the group was lead by Panditji indefinitely. It is to my knowledge that several of Panditji's disciples made up this ensemble that may, or may not, have included Pandit Anindo Chatterjee. Sorry for the scarcity of info. Thanks again.
