i love the ripples, probably caused by the resonance between the water and the shockwave. i think if u pack in a bottle with dry ice ONLY (a lot of it, in pellets), it will expand by itself, and when it blows up, the water will get to remaining pellets in an instant and probably causing a secondary explosion. someone please test my theory and see if it works.. its gonna be awesome!

Nah, its not that load underwater, but it does move quite a large volume of water, as such, it creates some pretty strong vibrations. Depending on the size of the bottle you use, you should be able to feel these easily.

Hey man, how much dry ice do you put in the bottle, and how much water do you put in as well???

Well that was a small bottle, for best results i put the water in first then fold the bottle and add the dry ice, the fold prevents the dry ice from starting the reaction with the water untill you let it go, it also acts to remove a lot of the air alrady in the bottle, which gives you a bit more time, esp. if you intend to throw it.... most people add the ice to the water without folding, which also works, but wont leave you with much time to put the cap on.

It depends on how fast you want the reaction to occur. I usually fill about one 8th of the bottle with water and then add about 4-5 table spoons of dry ice, depending on the size of each dry ice pellet. You can add more water to the bottle, but I find that despite increasing the reaction rate, it reduces the severity of the explosion. Try hot water for FAST result. Take care.
