  • Hey, really cool video of you and your son. I'm in Nakamura ryu and Mugai ryu myself. Got a son that's 17 months and he's sword crazy. He does our kiai all the time and has a bunch of plastic and foam samurai swords. It's something else watching them pick up your ambitions. Especially knowing that one day when we're old they'll be the new masters. Anyways, good video, you guys remind me of my son and I.. Take care

  • Jack and Joe are always wonderful to have as one's partner for the doing of the katas ^^

  • you are forgetting about the issoku-ittou!

  • hey im a 1st Kyu in Goju Ryu karate Do, it is obvious that our styles differ completely but i was wondering if you do any hand to hand combat? ive got my shodan grading coming up in 6 weeks as well, very nervous hehe, how did it go for you anyway? hope you past! :D

  • Kendo does not incorporate hand to hand combat. Kenjitsu does, but that is rarely practiced because of the inherent danger to both people involved.

  • yeah is call jujutsu i guess kendo would call it judo but since in modern times we only practice one sport at a time like judo or kendo or naginatado or kyudo or even tomiki aikido, get were i'm going with this?Anyways i'm having a hell of a hard time trying to get my niece to do any of the katas, she already practices karate-do & judo soon(yes we hve a really cool club) anyhow i did kendo but i can figure how to teach her the katas any ideas.Yes i know they hve. to like it first...

  • Oh and by the way joe in #2 jack missed a step, right after your attack he did not lower his tip before moving away to the corner...Well you problably knew this already since he's a kid anyways and iam just been and asshole right now...sorry never mind bye...oh please don't forget any ideas on how to teach my niece.I promise i'llmake a vid & post it so you can coment how bad it is back!!!

  • I've always wanted to learn how to do this... maybe i will sometime.

  • I want to go back to karate. I started karate when I was in kidingaten but I stop at the 4th grade since I was moving. You guys are great and loved that stlye you were using.

  • Martial arts are always there for you when you are ready to go back. Good luck in your practice !

  • beautiful video.

  • Thank you.

  • . . on the fourth the first strike is a little too close make it more of a I'd say six inches down the tip stike. for the fifth on your last motion jack make the transition from the end of the strike to transang-dan very smooth and qucik don't linger on the strike. and for both of you never touch swords that is a definate nono. I'm a second degree black belt in kumdo the korean version but the forms are literally the same thing hope this helped good luck on your testing

  • Hmmmm, sounds more likely that there are more difference then you are sensative to. Thank you for your observations though. If you are ever in the Ann Arbor Michigan area, please let us know. We would welcome you to practice with us.

  • I agree that there are many areas of overlap between Kendo and Kumdo. Unfortunately I am biased as I only practice Kendo.

  • Kumdo is imitation of Kendo by Korean people. Please don't be deceived in their lies. Please google Kumdo. You can find a website titled "WHY DOES KUMDO TELL A LIE ?"

  • for jack on number two when striking kote make sure that your form is a straight downward and upward motion. you should bascially be making a V motion. you seem to be doing an actual sparring strike. . . not good. during the third make each stab very pronounced and take it slower
