@somesillysap What are you basing that statment on? I don't recall Ferrari ever issuing a press release documenting the 348 as an "embarassment" OR "the worst handling Ferrari of all time." If you're even remotely serious about the 348 being worse than, say, a Mondial coupe/cab or a 308GT4, etc etc etc etc etc, then you are speaking out of your anus. Perhaps the 348 wasn't up to par with the 355 (and beyond) which made major improvements, but c'mon. Don't speak as if you represent Ferrari.
@joshcop69 with the exception of its good looks I was utterly disappointed. This was clearly the worst product Ferrari had developed for some time.” One quote about the 348 from Luca di Montezemolo, the incoming chairman of Ferrari after Enzo's death in 1998... Im almost certain that he spoke as a representative for Ferrari. I dont need to.
@joshcop69 it was mainly a problem with the early 348s which had bad front end float at high speed, later 348s still floated but not as bad. Luca owned a 348 before he joined Ferrari, before he made these comments. They changed the front shock absorbers and shock angles in later 348s and located the battery to the front left corner to balance the weight more. Im looking at buying a 348 thats why ive read up on them so much and why I was looking at this video.
This is how à mid mounted engine car react! He spins like a circle because of concentration of mass in the Center of the car. Wen He come with the back, its difficult to retake control.
referring to a similar previous question I've checked the dictionary and "accident" can refer to "any event that happens unexpectedly, without a deliberate plan or cause" so yes is the answer, i call it an accident
@bluedwarf1972 id call it an accidental spinout if you ask me because the phrase you are refering to is very misleading ... o but thoughs sily youtube views are important though right ...
if you say "it happend by accident" yes it is what you said but when you say "car accident" or "ferrari accident"you mean that the car got smashed or sth like that.
By the way even if it is as you said we dont have a dictionary to check every word out.We all know what we mean when we say accident with a car ;)
@viktord1 You're kidding, right?! By "the driver," you CAN'T be referring to the driver in THIS vid, can you? His "skills" consisted of *stepping on the brake pedal after the car came to a halt from scrubbing off forward velocity by spinning on asphalt.* Seriously, dude, he RAN OUT OF SKILL about 1.2 seconds into the video. The rest was physics, rubber on tarmac, and a brake pedal.
i've checked the dictionary and "accident" can refer to "any event that happens unexpectedly, without a deliberate plan or cause" if you feel cheated KingRDM, out of some carnage please take it up with the management
come on mate you've got a ferrari you shouldnt have to explain yourself to anyone! nice to see someone driving a ferrari how it was supposed to be designed, forget about the spin it happens to all of us! great video!
SMITMK3 you drive a fuckin rs escort, you fuckin twat. when, or if you ever get a car with proper power, then comment, till then, shut the fuck up. i bet you creep about town at 30 all night.
u dont know me cunt, yes i hav a rs turbo, i work for williams bmw and hav drove 645's m5s m3's..and you, whos intrestes are fiats?!!?! pahahaha your the tosser m8
thanks for a very funny rant, it must have happened to most of us, that feeling of being sat in an out of control car with only the laws of physics between you and a wall!!
cheers for the heads up, i will consult the diary, i think that's the one our little gang goes to each year, all the best....I'll have the video running!!!!
I see they have got the Veyron back out at that meet. Always worth a look round. see Bugatti club site. Now question is how can I blag a drive with this video round my neck!
is it at the 26 & 27 April 2008 meet or during "La Vie en Bleu 2" 24th & 25 May 2008, i'm sure they will let you have a go as long as you agree to switch the TC on!
there is no crash, i only promised an accident, this doesnt mean there has to be actual damage. i've checked the dictionary and "accident" can refer to "any event that happens unexpectedly, without a deliberate plan or cause" if you feel cheated out of some carnage please take it up with the management
very fine line between perfect and off, see comments above, the driver had taken the speed trap at 64mph earlier in the day and got round this run was 67mph and didn't. check out the in car footage of this spin
By way, if you think there is only 1 right line through corners that is sad mistake. there is usually a choice. and what works for 1 car or 1 driver may not for another.
Your right, had all day to practice today there, and got a much better line. just needs some balls to hang out on right long enough and far enough into the corner. But very happy with lines now. we return in 2 weeks for the canceled run, so fingers crossed I get the result with the clock running!
i'm not bothered its not my mistake, but having done a bit of track daying myself there is fine line between getting right and wrong, but i guess thats where the buzz comes from
well maybe this wasn't what was planned, but its a competition and you don't get much chance to try a different line or faster speed, due to limited testing etc. see the comments from the driver above XSV348
My mistake on the model, looks hell of a lot like 355 from front and rear view not great quality on my screen. Got to admit you went way too hard into the bend though ?
part 1 Thanks for your advice! Try a hillclimb, to get a decent time you need to be on the edge on every corner. You only have 2 runs to do it in. Sometimes this means you go over the edge.
I went through speed trap on entry to that corner earlier at 64mph. Another ferrari managed 66, this run was 67. One could say 66 is the limit! But unfortunately I was a bit too busy to look at my speedo at the time.
part 2 Actually, it is all about throttle balance through orchard. you need to lift a little after the trap, but you are on the corner, so with a mid engined car a little too much throws the back out, with a balanced throttle the car is more stable than that, but balance all the way through would be too fast or if starting before corner too slow.
Having said that the race cars go through that trap at 109 mph! Just need downforce and slicks.
and finally! - Try a hill climb sometime, we are back in September - Sat 22nd. I still reckon I can do that corner at that speed as it happens. I've just got some new rims giving me an extra inch of rubber that should do the trick. we shall see.
Rubbish I was miles away from anything and all under control - well I had hopes of getting it back initially, but grass got in way! You can see what it was like from inside car here by a search on that other video web site. There is also another run on here of car further up track. Thanks Guys, nice videos.

This is also an example of why Ferrari was embarrassed by the 348 as the worst handling Ferrari of all time.

Yes. I 'accidentally' got the tail out leaving mile end round about the one day. I didn't mean to do it, so it was an 'accident' .
luckily I held it and straitened up .. and according to my mate who was behind me it looked pretty cool. :)
I so glad my friends saw it, because I shall 'not' be doing it again. :p lol
