Don's vocals were not 'average'. There are... MAYBE... four vocalists in all of Rock/Metal that have an R&B quality to their voice. Glenn Hughes, Göran Edman, Don Dokken, I guess if you're counting dead people, Freddie Mercury?

That made the band VERY unique. George being a prodigy did not make the band unique.

God I miss this shit!! Growing up in LA and going to the troubador or gazzari's stoned seeing these bands just before they made their name - very bitchin. They weren't known as hair bands around 1982. Dokken was my fav, but got to see Ratt, Quit Riot, Great White, Black & Blue, Armored Saint, LA guns, Wasp, Steeler, keel - THE METAL MOVEMENT >>Hollywood hasn't seen anything like it since and never will.

My brother used to be ok with hair metal but know he hates dokken and anything hair metal (i.e. Bon Jovi, Dokken, etc.) But there are three thins we can agree on, That is an awesome ESP guitar, Thrash metal is awesome, and Glam sux.

P.S. Dokken is not glam but hair metal cuz glam is alot of makeup, while hair metal is a lot of hairspray.
