Nah its not their fault. Germany liking low interest rates was a tiny factor - it had a lot more to do with, at least in Greece's case, with a culture of political patronage where two major families (the Karamanlis and Papandreou) basically bought union votes by offering more government jobs. It got to the stage where 1 in 4 Greek workers worked directly for the government and 1 in 2 worked either for the gov or a gov owned company (like Australias old telecom). Thats the problem.

Germany exports a lot more to the rest of the world... Greece is almost immaterial in terms of German markets when you look at the sales of BMW, Audi, VW, MAN, German pharma companies and heavy engineering firms etc.. to the Middle East, N America and Asia...

A problem with Greece's dependence on logistics and tourism is that logistics has come under heavy Chinese competition (COSCO who now own the Piraeus container dock) and cheaper tourist destinations like Turkey and Egypt.
