The words still work. I think of the ppl who join cults, religions, political movements whose sole purpose is to oppress & hurt others...what is their purpose? They die and what have they left behind but oppression & pain, not freedom & joy. The words still work.
She is one of the great vocal artists of our generation she reminds me of Ella Fitzgerald because she brings so much power and simplicity to her singing. She is not as virtuosic as Ella, but her emotional commitment and power is very strong. Because she is singing in the punk genre no grace notes are called for. The more I listen to her the more I love her singing.
Payyi is amazing, loved her music for a few decades now, never gets old....

One of the great frontwomen -- for me she ranks with Grace Slick, Sandy Denny, Chrissie Hynde, Janis -- performers, songwriters, icons.
Goddesses proclaiming.

Such simple, beautiful and profound words. Love the original by the Beatles but Patti just brings something hauntingly ethereal to it. Great Post.

This is one of the few Beatles covers (that isn't made by the Across the Universe cast) that I like, and that DOESN'T make me wanna smack a ho. :)

A true "punk rock chick" doesn't wear makeup or go glam (hello Courtney?!).
Drop the "sex appeal" and the gossip dribble and you get raw punk, real punk, what it was meant to be.
We were talking about the people who gain the world and lose their soul.....
Patti lives and breathes her soul.
