I would like to know why the farmers in Kurow who have allowed their rabbit problem to get out of control, want 1080 laid as close as 20m from  their lifestyle neighbours homes but demand that a buffer zone of at least 1 kilometer be set in place for their own homes?

Controling pest may help save native species, but 1080 is a poison, it kills, it saves nothing! 1080 kills native birds, and many other organisms. Control pests, but find a better way than by dropping poison laced food from aircraft.

In any given year we have more ground control than aerial control. The problem is that we can't control rats over a bigger area than about 500ha with trapping. Even then it isn't viable to control rat plagues with trapping. Weve had some terrible species losses due to rat plagues.
