"All the evidence available in the biological sciences supports the core proposition of traditional natural theology--that the cosmos is a specially designed whole with life and mankind as its fundamental goal and purpose, a whole in which all facets of reality, from the size of galaxies to the thermal capacity of water, have their meaning and explanation in this central fact."(p. 389) - Nature's Destiny by Michael Denton
1) You're quoting Denton. He's been proven innumerable times to be a very poor source. You might as well quote Gish.
2) You miss understand the word "evidence" or "support"- one of the two. It's not possible to evidence to support- or deny - your proposition, any more than it is possible for God to create a rock too big for him to lift.
@abdulmuhib Not so. The human genome is a digital database of information equivalent to an entire set of Encyclopedia Britannica. Information is the result of intelligence. To believe this digital database of information was created by mutations is a fairytale for adults.
@achilles197474 Well, I guess I'd have to ask, what do you mean by Information? If you mean information in the sense that the Discovery Institute uses it, then we have nothing to talk about, since you have chosen to use a term within a specific field of science in a way that no one who advocates that field uses it, and you are quite welcome to do so, but that is mere nonsense from the perspective of that field.
@achilles197474 I can say the "Periodic Table" means "oranges", but you won't be able to talk to any Chemists if I insist on my Orange Definition.
However, if you mean information in the way that Information Science uses it, then I would have to ask, "Who told you that information is the result of intelligence?" Where did you learn that?
@achilles197474 3) You (or Denton) are confusing the Weak and Strong Anthropomorphic Principles. Life could not exist without the narrow parameters we find, that is true. That does not logically imply that it was created for us. It could be created for multiple species. It could be that we are simply the logical conclusion of the circumstances that formed us.
@abdulmuhib I noticed you need to have your eyes checked. Thats a cat under a blanket and thats all there is too it.
"So when the IDist mocks their made-up view of evolution" That statement in itself tell me that you have no true regard for science and certainly no education regarding evolution. This 4.5 billion year old earth will only keep us alive if we are true to science. Praying won't stop CO2 emissions. Praying won't feed the hungry, warm the cold or bring back our dead relatives.
@CopernicusRules Hmm. I'm not sure whether you are insane or simply have no sense of humour. I'm not sure which would be worse.
But good for you- quote mining just like the good Intelligent Designer that you are, claiming I said something by taking my statement out of context! Even using only half the sentence! Bravo!
As for me and my house, we're gong to continue to accept the truth of evolution- not some rather odd belief that "Gaia" will keep us alive.
No scientific methods are used in their claims that evolution is false. Nothing but garbage. The same shit that's been shoveled since they thought scientific terminology would win them support. This is how religion has failed and will continue to always fail. It simply isn't logical. You can make up any claim you wish but no one has proven evolution to be incorrect in almost 150 years.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
lol, almost true... except even in jest you provide evidence for some sort of a designer, or this idea, video, etc would not exist... TRUE: particles-to-people evolution is an unsubstantiated hypothesis, AT BEST.
@Lookin4TruthDotCom You have confused the concept of a designer with the recent philosophy of Intelligent Design. This is not your fault. The Discovery Institute has purposely worked to confuse the issue and obscure it, recognizing that "intelligent design" seems like a reasonable idea to people of faith like me and you. Indeed, the idea that there is a designer has long been advocated by theistic evolutionists- we cal this designer God, and are not trying to be deceptive about that.
@Lookin4TruthDotCom What the Discovery Institute has done is take those words and create a very specific anti-science philosophy around them, while deceptively still using many arguments that pertain to the general idea of a designer.
You should talk with them more. A lot of them, once you pin them down on the details, actually do believe that. At least, those at the Discovery Institute that I've known.
@Lbbhecht No, not really. That's what they actually believe. Unless you feel that the DI doesn't represent ID- because I've talked with the folks at the DI and this is what they believe.
The Intelligent Design people believe in evolution. This video is a straw man cuz it promotes the myth the IDers are against evolution. Read thru their websites.
Very funny! Because the ID people believe in false ideas, you want to then state that their belief in false ideas is false! And then, to top it off, you appear to relish the false use of "myth", to mean "false"!
Read what your people believe sometime. They believe in evolution in part, and deny it in part. Basically, evolution happens except when it is too "irreducibly complex", at which point God steps in.
If you haven't actually read all the many references by them to "dogs turning into cats", you are not speaking truth when you say you've read ID sources.
And no, this *humorous* video in no way denies that the IDists believe in their own peculiar version of evolution.
also "IDers" are quite plural hence there are many (most ) who are just ignorant human lumps living around in their tightly knit religious communities often in 3rd world countries.
lame comment! It lacked originality, suspense, or any amount of erudition. Honestly, try a little harder, put some more effort into it, next time. Make it worth my while to click on your link.

i believe that adaption will change the type of species of an animal like how there are many kinds of fish and dogs. though i dont believe man could have evolved from proteins to fish to monkeys to man, i believe life is far more complex than what scientists give it credit for. but i believe the video was only a satire...and my coment is totally irelevent...sorry ;)
Well, yes, adaptation will change an organism, but only with natural selection. Evolution can't occur through adaptation alone any more than it can occur by chance.
Scientists give life a lot of credit for the complexity bit. But we always love being surprised!
chance is a lot of it, think of the millions of sperm that you came with. Out of all of them you were created, that's not going far enough back to little single celled organisms. but it's all astronomical that anything is here, our being here is proof that no one can say "i can't believe we came from that". Life isn't explainable, how about that, or it hasn't been explained yet, or it never will, but it was possible.
yeah. i get it and all. i just believe in natural selection and progressive adaptation; it makes all sense. i just dont believe my ancestors were apes. but thats just my beliefs. if you believe different thats totally cool, i dont mind it, it's not like im gonna preach and force my beliefs on you until you believe it. thats not me. i believe God made me and I love him no matter what others say.
Such a shame that evolution in the common understanding is accurately reflected in the Pokemon video. It leads to rejection by fundamentalists, thinking that evolution is this magical thing where one creature is transformed into another, through a process of hopeful monsters, rather than a slow change by increments through a process of chance and natural selection operating on the most helpful aspects within a given environment.
Well...You seem to be operating under the assumption that something can be proved right in science. Since it can't, yes, there are aspects of evolution that were proved wrong, just as there are of any theory. And of course, since overwhelming data supports evolution, scientists consider it a fact, as they do with any theory, with the caveat that, as with anything in science, if something better comes along evolution would be dropped like a bad habit. It's not a matter of faith, after all.

Also, lest we swallow their propaganda, creationists and IDists are one and the same. Creationism attests that fully functional complex life was crated through the will and design of an intelligent creator. Intelligent design advocates believe in: See creationism.
