How can I get the grip strengh to hang on to the bar when doing these? I can only do about 3-4 before my grip gives out. I obviously don't have the straps :/
@punktheman Keep practising. Your grip will improve. If you have a bar at home, just hang there (no raises) everyday until you cannot hold any longer and drop to your feet. Side-effect - nice forearms. :D
@drusen working out the obliques creates the look of a blocky wide waist. if you are doing squats or deadlifts, those will form the obliques, but you should do this exercise to build core strength. im here to correct my posture due to weak LOWER abs.
What can you do to make sure your abs are symetircal?I doubt it's up to genetics because why would one side be bigger then the other unless the other is not being worked like its counter part.
I am doing hanging leg raises with 15 kg dumbbell between my ankles 15-20 per set, to develop my eight pack because I can feel an 8 pack I have a defined 6 pack also but I can see the shadow on the 8 and feel the 8 pack abs is this good what I am doing to get the 8 pack ? please let me know I am trying to bring all of my abs out further to have more definition.

lol...an anatomy expert would smack you for saying "working the lower abs" there's no such thing as just working lower abs.
The abs contract EVENLY, it would be like holding a length of elastic at each end and trying to pull one end to make it stretch more than the opposite side.

i'm always way outta motivation/breath when i do em at the end, some people recommend that though since your abs are assisting your back. Working them before might stress your back alot more when you lift heavy squats or something...
The guy doing the exercise has the "pregnant bodybuilder" effect. Stay away from steroids, your internal organs are made of muscles, and steroids make your internal organs grow too.
This exercise does not isolate your lower abs. You cannot isolate different parts of the abdominals. Just like you cant isolate the upper or lower part of your pectorals.

i used these + pullups + dips + 20 rep breathing squats and got strong in weeks. definitely try these because they strengthen every muscle of the core, decompress the spine, and build flexibility.
I do this excersice in circuit but i dont have the control all the way so i do the easy way i got up to 20 rep so i go easy , and work my way up ty for the nice work very good explanation !!!

I do this excersice in circuit but i dont have the control all the way so i do the easy way i got up to 20 rep so i go easy , and work my way up ty for the nice work very good explanation !!!
