I loved this video! I'm planning on having a Sweet 15 (or Quincenera) party and I wanted to do something like this for the waltz :D I want something new and fresh! Great videos and kudos on the songs ;)
Haha! I do love the dancing from that time period :) It's so lovely and the music just makes me so happy and your video shows that...sigh, I would love to dance like that
@mynameistofu4 You can dance like this if you choose. Most cities have dance groups who do nothing else. They call it Contra dancing, Country dancing, and even Ceili's. For a small fee to cover rental of the space you can learn these dances. And YES they are fun. Also check out participating in Napoleonic era reenactments.
I absolutely love this! It's wonderful. I too love the dancing in the Period Dramas. I love the way things were back then and really wish it was still like that now, or that I could go back and live then! Thank you so much for making this! And the songs you chose for this are perfect!
Look up contra dance and english country dance- there's lots of resources on line. If a middle aged engineer like me can dance . so can anyone who is mobile at all.
But its all just... rap. I always thought prom is formal - tuxedos and long gowns, so I assumed the music would be formal as well. Elegant and proper.
I was wrong, all I experienced were, rap music and people dancing very immorally - the moves were similar to sex positions. It was more of a night club experience rather than a formal prom.
Ahh this reminds me how much I love regency dances! Must have been real fun to dance like that. Back than it was also kind of a sport (for the ladies who didn't even ride horses) ; )
Todays dances are so horrible! It's like being clutched (if you can say so ; ) with your partner (whether he's hot or not ; ) Am I talking nonesense due to your great work? ; ) lol
Oh wow! I really couldn't agree with you more, and am sooooo happy that there are other people who think so too! There's no style, grace, talent or sophistication in the kind of dancing that's popular now. And it's not just in the raves -- it's the norm at any junior high/high school/college dance as well, and it's really disappointing.
you know, you don't have to go back to go back to 1810 to do those dances. There are many organizations who put on these sorts of dances, many of them very casual. It's called English Country Dancing. For example, BACDS (Bay Area Country Dance Society) in the bay area is one such dance organization. Check it out if you want to learn.
FelicityKing... you say you would love to go back to the Regency era just so you could dance like that in a nice ballroom... sure, but you'd have to be a member of the gentry or aristocracy class, and that was hardy 5% of the whole population back then. :-)
And, your point is? What? I shouldn't fantasize about being able to dance like that in that era because I probably would have been a poor person? GEE, how insightful. Do you have any other important insights to make for me about poor people, the Regency era, or my having a fantasy life???
Lovely :) I really enjoyed this. The only thing I sort of wish you did was separate the two songs into different clips, but I'm still just happy to see it :)
Thank you Mina, thank you Lee for the lovely comments!
It was a lot of fun to do this! The idea came by watching Onegin (btw great great movie!). I get the idea to make a vid with Period Drama dances not out of my head. :-)
Thank you so much! The S&S score is my favorite one! I like the undertones in this score but "Willoughby" was more suitably to the faster dances scenes which I have selected.
that was great! I loved rthe S&S score, such a beautifu one. The Netherfield ball ste to the Meryton score was particularly good, though I would never have though so! great job and 5 stars!
I like the music very music, in particularly the first piece. So first I want to say thank you for the clip. I'm looking to find the music, but I can't find it.

If I could work miracles, I'd replace all those night clubs and whatnot with stuff like this. Modern dancing is......uncomfortable. :-/

Why don't we dance like this now? It's much more fun than rubbing against eachother's bodies like we do now in 'raves'...
Oh, how things have changed!
