  • watch this on mute while listening to "booty wurk" by tpain

  • It's actually Meryton Townhall not Meyton

  • I loved this video! I'm planning on having a Sweet 15 (or Quincenera) party and I wanted to do something like this for the waltz :D I want something new and fresh! Great videos and kudos on the songs ;)

  • The first one is awesome!!! xD

  • Hi #UN#

Love any ballroom/partner dancing. Check my channel MyRuidoso for my Pearl jam Nightclub Two Step. Thanks

  • Where can I download the first song? so beautiful....:) Thx:)

  • Please where can I find the first song? Thanks...:)

  • love those movies, love that music...love your video! :)

  • i can't find the second song on youtube );..

  • @siewyiing94

Type in the search box "Meyton Townhall and you'll find it!

  • Haha! I do love the dancing from that time period :) It's so lovely and the music just makes me so happy and your video shows that...sigh, I would love to dance like that

  • what is the name of the second song?

  • @MrPlktnt

"Meyton Townhall" from the Pride & Prejudice (2005) Soundtrack!

  • Now THIS is dancing!!

If I could work miracles, I'd replace all those night clubs and whatnot with stuff like this. Modern dancing is......uncomfortable. :-/

  • @mynameistofu4 You can dance like this if you choose. Most cities have dance groups who do nothing else. They call it Contra dancing, Country dancing, and even Ceili's. For a small fee to cover rental of the space you can learn these dances. And YES they are fun. Also check out participating in Napoleonic era reenactments.

  • me and my friends set up dance parties all the time and dance just like this ^^ we got the idea from pride and prejudice of course lol

  • I absolutely love this! It's wonderful. I too love the dancing in the Period Dramas. I love the way things were back then and really wish it was still like that now, or that I could go back and live then! Thank you so much for making this! And the songs you chose for this are perfect!

  • i wish i can learn how

but it looks hard x_x id get lost

    haha

  • Yes it's from the Pride & Prejudice soundtrack and the song is called "Meyton Townhall" :-)

  • @Elbenhexe Where can I download the first song? so beautiful....:) Thx:)

  • Very nice!

What is the name of the first song... very beautiful tune... :)

    Is it from a movie?

    Congratulations

  • Thanks @all!

I'm proud you like my montage!!

  • Look up contra dance and english country dance- there's lots of resources on line. If a middle aged engineer like me can dance . so can anyone who is mobile at all.

  • I wish theyd play this kind of music at prom..

But its all just... rap. I always thought prom is formal - tuxedos and long gowns, so I assumed the music would be formal as well. Elegant and proper.

I was wrong, all I experienced were, rap music and people dancing very immorally - the moves were similar to sex positions. It was more of a night club experience rather than a formal prom.

  • what is the name of the dance they are doing

  • I named by cat Willoughby after the character in Sense and Sensibility!!!!!!!

  • Ahh this reminds me how much I love regency dances! Must have been real fun to dance like that. Back than it was also kind of a sport (for the ladies who didn't even ride horses) ; )

Todays dances are so horrible! It's like being clutched (if you can say so ; ) with your partner (whether he's hot or not ; ) Am I talking nonesense due to your great work? ; ) lol

  • I agree with you, absolutely! :)

  • Wonderful video....but what is the name of the first song? I really, really, really, like it.

P.S. I love Regency dances, thanks for putting this together.

  • 0:20 look like Imogen Stubbs from Sense & Sensebility '95 Am I right ?

  • My wife's in there somewhere! She was an extra in Mansfield Park. She looked great!

  • Oh! She's so lucky!!! :))

  • I love these dances too! =) So so much.. ;P

  • I´m in love with those dances too! =) great video =)/ 5 stars

  • I wish I could go to one of those balls!

  • I love that kind of music, all Austen's novels and most of their film adaptations! Very good job!

  • i want one of those dresses so badly!

  • Why don't we dance like this now? It's much more fun than rubbing against eachother's bodies like we do now in 'raves'...

    Oh, how things have changed!

  • Oh wow! I really couldn't agree with you more, and am sooooo happy that there are other people who think so too! There's no style, grace, talent or sophistication in the kind of dancing that's popular now. And it's not just in the raves -- it's the norm at any junior high/high school/college dance as well, and it's really disappointing.

  • I really can't agree more!

  • I would love to go back to the Regency era just so I could dance like that.

I love the music you used for the clips. I've been delaying getting the soundtracks, but this fanvid has convinced me I must not delay much longer.

  • you know, you don't have to go back to go back to 1810 to do those dances. There are many organizations who put on these sorts of dances, many of them very casual. It's called English Country Dancing. For example, BACDS (Bay Area Country Dance Society) in the bay area is one such dance organization. Check it out if you want to learn.

  • FelicityKing... you say you would love to go back to the Regency era just so you could dance like that in a nice ballroom... sure, but you'd have to be a member of the gentry or aristocracy class, and that was hardy 5% of the whole population back then. :-)

  • And, your point is? What? I shouldn't fantasize about being able to dance like that in that era because I probably would have been a poor person? GEE, how insightful. Do you have any other important insights to make for me about poor people, the Regency era, or my having a fantasy life???

  • wow..what beautiful dances!

  • Thank you :-)

  • Thank you for posting honey!!!

    I love dancing.

  • Thank you so much!

I'm very glad you like my little pd dancing

vid! I love this kind of dancing, too! Very

    gracefully and charming :-)

  • I don't even know how to dance.. Lol

  • is the film at 2;00 and 2;03 the same? and if so what is it?

  • Ahh I love the first music! But the other sense and sensibility is better... the ballroom clip from that should have been shown

  • Thanks!

Which S&S version did you mean? I don't have any scenes from S&S in my video, but from Pride & Prejudice ;-)

  • Sense and sensibilty the one with Kate Winslet with the GORGEOUS Greg Wise as Willoughby...

    whats the film at 1.02??

  • That's from the 2005 verson Pride & Prejudice with Matthew MacFadyen and Keira Knightley.

  • ok and what it the beginning one, where the doors open

  • That's Pride & Prejudice again :-)

The scene was from the ball of Netherfield (The home of Mr. Bingley)!

  • Do you know the title of the song in that scene?the music is so lively, i love it

  • what movie is at :29?

  • @ 0:29?

It's the movie "Onegin" with Ralph Fiennes, Liv Tyler & Toby Stephens :-)

  • Oh!! I've heard of that movie. I guess I'll have to see it then :)

  • Thank you for lovely comments and ratings! :-)

  • wow, cool video, love all the scenes and the music, good job :D

  • i have 4 kids in my family..and im the oldest so i made me nd my sisters nd my brohter nd sister are dpoing the music to this song it so cute :) kik

  • The dancing is soo pretty and fun to watch.

    5 stars & saved to faves - Nina :)

  • Lovely :) I really enjoyed this. The only thing I sort of wish you did was separate the two songs into different clips, but I'm still just happy to see it :)

  • Thank you Mina, thank you Lee for the lovely comments!

It was a lot of fun to do this! The idea came by watching Onegin (btw great great movie!). I get the idea to make a vid with Period Drama dances not out of my head. :-)

    @Lee

Thank you for 5* and saving to your favorites!!

  • Oh Mel i am so sorry I've only just watched this but it was worth it.

This is a very beautiful and nice video, you have upload here!

    Great workt!

I like the music very much, it fits perfectly to the clips.

    I gave you 5 stars.

  • Thank you so much! The S&S score is my favorite one! I like the undertones in this score but "Willoughby" was more suitably to the faster dances scenes which I have selected.

  • Thank you, Melli for posting this clip. I must just seen this movie emma and pride and predjudice. Its a great vid.

  • that was great! I loved rthe S&S score, such a beautifu one. The Netherfield ball ste to the Meryton score was particularly good, though I would never have though so! great job and 5 stars!
