  • It'sa me MARIO

  • U need a shockwave.

  • whats the technique for the groundsmoke?

  • @caveman357 The technique for the groundsmoke is actually a combination of moving articles and a moving geometry which carry the big cloudparticles with it.

  • and thus chuck norris was born

  • OMGG!!!!!1

    WHERE IS THAT????

  • Nice :3

  • Nothing to see here move along...

  • a little bit slow but VERY good effect. and try that with shockwave and smoke :)

  • all those people down there got pwned lol nice work

  • AMAZING!!!!

  • Shockwave?

  • The dust at the ground should go towards the cloud.

  • Good but make the shockwave other than amazing job

  • Nice

  • the dust movement is so nice

  • And that's what happens when you divide by zero.

  • and thats how a smoke tree grew on the magic wood

  • It looks very realistic! Maybe it would look more better if you put a blast wave in it what happens when u detonate a real Nuke :P All the tree's gone. Heheheh >:"D But good job!

  • slow shockwave, but cool :D

  • what software did u use

  • that really awesome. u should give youreself more credit

  • Very nice! Just one thing: the dust clouds are not projecting shadows on the ground, maybe you could use a plane with matte material so it will recieve the shadows.

  • it leaves me unsatisfied couse there is no shock wave

  • shouldn't there be like a sonic boom....idk

  • you are too modest man, your nuke test is awsome from my point of view

    GREAT WORK!

  • I agree with Owminator, but also if you could add a few shock waves across the land, it'll look more realistic. Other than that, it looks so awesome

  • Needs color correcting and shadow, otherwise good effect.

  • make a tutorial please

  • would have been nicer theres some shadow on the field. just suggesting :)

  • hey how do i download this to use in a short film

  • nuketown?

  • nuke test in the englsh countryside? :D

  • Nice...

Needs a shockwave comming out before the smoke. Also its obvious that the blast is pasted on top of a different landscape picture, would be nice to see some trees move from the blast ect, intergrate the 2 layers more

  • Looks like someone had to blow up Megaton.

  • hey yea i think a nuke is way bigger than that its like 14 miles past that just sayin

  • what program is this?

  • @Burkhardt0121

I think it could be 3DS Max....

  • pretty god dam nice. but there is just like no shockwave, or reaction to the environment

  • sorry for my nooby question...

is there the ability to put this nuke in a 3d game and in which format do i have to export this?

i was searching in google but didn't found something :(

  • @daSultanDaHab You could integrate a rendered "sprite" animation in your Game. But this would not be 3D. And: No, this particular (volumetric) Effect - constructed with after burn volumetrics - is not suitable to be used within a 3D Game. Sorry.

  • @Tristan3D

    hm what a pity :(

but thank you very much for your quick response :)

  • @daSultanDaHab you could make it 2d/3d in the distance. and add sound and shock to make it seem real.

  • @daSultanDaHab you could try using lots of flat planes with different textures on them, and size and shrink to get the effect you want :)

  • @daSultanDaHab

why would anyone want to do that?

  • AWESOME!!! :) lol im a girl watching nuke vids early in the morning...

  • did you ever finish this? if you did, you should post a video... if not, you should! this is good!

  • Add a shockwave and a shadow and you'll be great. thumbs up

  • Shoop da whoop swollowed his lazar.

  • can u give me the link?

  • @muddypuddlerules The link for what?

  • @Tristan3D i think he means the link to the software or whatever you used to make the anamation

  • @Tristan3D link for the stimulation numb nuts -.-

  • @muddypuddlerules afterworks . com / store . asp

  • damn add a shock wave proceeding that smoke and that would be one of the best effects ive seen.

  • @relicright That's true. Thanx.

  • it's still the best looking user created mushroom cloud on youtube!! :D

  • cool! 4/5

  • Where do u go to make bombs like that

  • nice but no sound?

  • i think some cam and ground shaking, and maybe shadow would sell it more.

  • 0:07 it shows a tree

  • i belive its fake but it looks pretty nice good job

  • Great job here!

  • The mushroom cloud should move a little slower. Study some real nuclear explosion videos and try to copy that. Very nice work though!

  • @Zaharkl That's how a nuclear explosion looks like.

  • Good, but the connection to the mushroom cloud should disintegrate.

  • @Zaharkl u just have a dirty mind lol..it looks like a mushroom.

  • This looks sick...

  • How long did it take just to create this effect?

  • That looks like the fields at Northern Ireland! Not saying you dislike the place. I live in that country.

  • @danner253 It's some place in germany :)

  • Should be more... Fire-y, if you get what I mean.

  • whats name if this program

  • W00t program is this?

  • Please do a tutorial... that was very nice.

  • @aidanm101 I will - sometime. Stay tuned :)

  • Very nice

  • who farted

  • @McGiggitygoo i did.... sorry.

  • @McGiggitygoo your mom did XD

  • @McGiggitygoo Chuck Norris!

  • Shadow after the blast

    Shockwave

    Gloom

    heatwave before shockwave

Sound when shockwave reaches the "camera"

    heat ring.

  • ... Outside of that...

  • well done man... just 1 thing: there is no explosion wave "bluring" all the way around the explosion, expanding to all the sides... try adding that and when it supposedly came to where the camara is, add some camara shake, that would be spectacular!!!

if u do so, please tell me... I'd like to see that! ;)

  • "Looking lame"? Wtf is the matter with you? This is amazing. I couldn't do anything CLOSE to this.

  • @jneves4pt it blend your eyes and you will become blind or your eyes will be critically damaged its like the sun but on earth.. and not that big.. and doesn't weight 849billion tons..

  • Dont look in to the light... irl that is... if it would happen

  • you need shadows. DONT FORGET THEM. everyone does.

  • shock wave would be cool ;)

  • you need a shock wave

  • @valiant435674 true

  • Nice start with this - is it just me or is the scale of explosion not quite right compared with you background - seems like this type of explosion(nuclear) would darn near instantly cover the entire scene. But you obviously have skills so I'm sure you're aware of that. Please upload the finished take - I bet it's gonna kick ass!

  • Vary Nice And Nicely Detailed I like that you have a forest or town.

  • thats realistic

  • Do you use after burn for the smoke that is on the ground?

  • @CRazyDjEDy

yes. Simple Spread Out PFlow Event aith attached AF Particles.

  • how long did it took you to render this? (with your system configuration)

  • @Paunescudanutz

Differs. Its not that simple - I render in several passes, so the overall rendertime cannot reduced ti just one number. But it might took 8 hours in the end.

  • Tristan, would love to get this effect or something similiar in a film I am doing. Is there an e-mail I can reach you at so we can do business?

  • Yes, within my profile there is a link to my website for further artworks to see. And my Email. Cant write it in here, because tube dont allow that for some reason.

    :)

  • ey dude very awesome work. what i'd like to know is how do you make a light source, and connect it with the fumefx explosion. i mean there is a light source above the explosion and shadows are casted creating very amazing detail. Can you please explain on how to do this. very much appreciated,

    teun

  • Hi,

this kind of explosion is not possible with fumefx. This ist Afterburn.

    Sorrey.

  • ow buahah ok my bad ;P

  • im just wondering which 3d motor u used to do this plz replay !

  • @flameof2142 No motors - those are animated geometrys where the particles are sticked to.

  • Very nice, Could you explain how you made this? I'm quite interested.

  • An effect you should cover. When a nuke goes off everything will seem to go very dark due the bliding light the Nuke gives off. If you could cause the background to darken it would look a hell of alot better.

  • Thanks, man :)

That's definately true... I've allready implemented this within the closing sequence of my showreel (see my profile; click on my webpage url; got to "showreel" tab and download my showreel, thanks). There you'll see an effect very similiar to that what you've just esplained :)

    thanx :)

  • i think its really good

  • Yeah you are right, but please: Read the desciption text - tahts why nothing is gonna burn in this backplate. Thanx

  • hey that looks great!

i use c4d and I'm working on an terminator movie for an award.

in the end of the vid we need a mushroomcloud explosion

can you please explain me how u did this or send us that file?

of course u would be mentioned in the credits.

    greets

    heltfilm

  • good... very very good

  • everything else would go an orange color and everything would burn.. then comes the shock wave.. work on it..

  • hey man, i have come close to perfecting my nuke mushroom cloud look. check it out

  • Getting there man, it's looking good ;.)...

  • Man that was still awesome! what program did you use to create the explosion?!

  • Could you give me some advice about the colours because I never seem to get the result needed...

  • P.S.:

During the explosion - orange and red colors are prefered, but must change to the overall color of the scene (with an exception of green grass and forests... a green cloud would not this plausible ;) ).

    :)

  • Thanks a lot! You're great!

  • I am not sure what you mean exactly. The Color scheme of this sequence isn't properly done either... but as a rule of thumb: more blue more overall brown/grey and a fair bit of white. It depends on the ground which this nuke is blowing off... a red desert needs a more red, orange blue Explision cloud. A more white desert would need more grey and white colors, a.s.o.

  • A tutorial would be greatly appreciated!

  • Yes, I will write on sometime in the future. But to help you out:

    1. Use A (rolling) Torus object to stick the particles on (thats the head of the mushroomcloud)

    2. Use a slightly deformed Cylinder as the stem (again stick the particles onto it and animate it up with the cloudhead)

3.) Use a particle system or a "flowing outwards" geometry to stick the particles onto.

It's actually not the particles wich are moving but the geometrys which carrys them.

    Check "magnifypictures" videos as well

  • correction to point 3: Use the geometry method to create the shockwave flow.

The user "Magnifypictures" asked the same question; I told him how to do it in a mail and he did very well.. he might wanna answer to you as well :)

  • very very cool!

  • That mushroom looks really cool

  • Now, that's a big mushroom!

  • well it looks cool, but theres no shockwave, like come on when nuke blows up it tears everything down there woulnd be any trees or coulds

  • Yeah you'right, But please... read the description text. Thanx :)

  • hey me again,

i used your technique using a torrus and it turned out pretty good, check it out.

the only thing i need now is that shock wave flow or whatever that bottom one is.

    thanks for the help!

  • cool dude

  • i have to say thats pretty damn badass, even though its not finished. nice work!

  • Great work!

  • this is very well done, i use afterburn but i have allot of trouble getting the smoke to move pyroclasticly like you did. how did you do this? did you use sticky particles? i recommend you make a tutorial for this when you have time : )

  • thanks. :)

Yes, I am using sticky particles attached to "rolling" geometries which building up the cloudhead. The stem is constructed out of a simple deformed cylinder moving into the cloud - the groundsmoke consist out of a number of particle flow events linked together.

    :)

Tutorial will be written when the animation itself has been finished - stay tuned :)

  • by rolling do you mean animated to change size and shape? i look forward to a tutorial, i shall subscribe.

  • Yes, there are basicly three methods to construct the CloudHead (as I call it).

1.) A Torus Object (sticked with ABurn Particles-Volumes) which is rotating around the inner Center (from inwards to outwards constantly). This Object is good for very big (thermo-)nuclear explosion Cloudheads... because it's more like an outspread Cloud.

  • 2. Five (or more) very low Poly Spheres (around 16 polys each). They are grouped to a ring like the Torus before - but the Spheres give you more control in rolling (rotating) from inwards to outwards and are more spherical in the overall shape as a group (for less big explosions - up to 50kt).

    3. A Number of small Torus Objects which are rolling/rotating outwards as well. This is my prefered CloudHead-Geo construtction because it allows me the complete control of the moving particle Volumes.

  • The following Images will show you the construction of the very basic Cloudhead geometries, which are carrying the AfterBurn Volumetric Particles:

    w ww.tnovelist-ent.c om/Images/CloudHead_Geo_Methods.jpg

My Advice for you is this: Start with method Number 2 and check out if things are working good enough for your needs. Switch over to Method 3 only if you need more control of the CloudHead because its a very frustrating process to control this much of geometry in motion, size & behavior.

  • please note that I had to put three blank spaces within the URL to being able to post it as a comment in here. You have to delete those three spaces and the Image will show up in your browser. Sorry for this... youtube antispam regulations ;)

  • Ah, and it's advisable to use less faces and bigger volumetric puffs in exchange... Also using the "Phase" Value changing over time within the AfterBurn Volumetric Effect is very important to get a realistic looking result. Without the Phase of the Volumetric Fractals the Puffs would just moving staticly with the rolling geometries (which looks a bit lame).

Experiment as much as you can to get the best result. :)

  • thanks a ton! that picture helped allot, i never would have thought to approach it like this. Still i recommend a tutorial ; ) but thanks, when i get around to making this for my short film i will send it to you.

  • Wow, thats impressive looking! What plugin did you use?

  • thanks, but it's not yet finished :) :)

I am using AfterBurn for 3ds max. I will post a quick "how to" when it's finished :)
