@RatedY2J63 I wasn't making that type of comparison. the reason I consider mass effect, rage and fallout better than skyrim is because of the gameplay, I know they're not in exactly the same category. @Thesurge747 over time you get more companions i am not real sure how many you get i think u get about 4-5 companions any one of them is diff types, humans, lizard, twi lek...whatever you want.
The Old Republic is just a single player RPG with the MMO features wrapped into it. When I played the beta, it felt like story first, MMO second (might be a good or bad thing). I soloed every quest while I played (40+ hours) with almost no troubles at all. I really wanted to keep playing it but at $15 a month, its just a little too much to deal with at the moment especially with Skyrim, Battlefield, and F1 2011 out now and the Jak and Daxter HD collection and ME3 coming out early next year :D

The game gets MUCH harder as you progress, on the Sith Warrior side (class quests) are near impossible without executing abilities at the right time and have your healing companion.
The group quests (heroic) can not be soloed either (even with companion)
It's is a story driven MMO, something never done before.

Adding companion characters to this game was a big mistake.
I was in the whole beta, and pretty much everyone was playing solo, with their NPC companion, except for Flashpoints and Operations, which get old real fast.
People will treat this like a single player game, like Mass Effect, play through the whole story, make a few alts, and once everyone has played everything, they will leave the game.
I doubt Bioware can make content faster than people will burn through it.
@eduardvictor In the beta, it was an absolute nightmare finding a group, because barely anyone was LFG marked, and pretty much everyone you invited to join your group denied.
You could find the occasional 2-3 players to join you in a flashpoint, but it was cumbersome and boring (spam the General channel with LFG requests, and get ignored by half the server because of it), not to mention they left the group pretty much the instant the boss they were farming didn't drop the loot they needed.
@eduardvictor This lead to entire groups having to pause their Flashpoint or operation, get out, join the general channel, find a replacement player and get back in... BORING AND UNFUN, and the community will be a bunch of antisocial solo player emos that never want to talk or interact to anyone.
If that will be the case, I will not subscribe to the game past the first 2-3 months, I don't want to pay for an MMO to play in single player mode.

One feature that we have that i havent seen in any other mmo, is the ability to actually customize the behavior of your companion. In our game, you can actually go in and you can tell then which abilities you want them to use, and which ones you dont.
@Creohan Each class gets unique companions. They're all part of the class quest so no, you can't have the "tank sith inquisitor companion" if you're not a sith inquisitor.
Anyone know if there will be multiple companions available? Would seem abit meh if all my friends and classes share the same companions. Still a great addition to the game never the less
@Beardboythegreat From what I experienced, each class gets their own unique companions and each class gets multiple ones. You get the option of which one you bring with you around, some times you're required to bring certain ones depending on the quest.

One feature that we have that i havent seen in any other mmo, is the ability to actually customize the behavior of your companion. In our game, you can actually go in and you can tell then which abilities you want them to use, and which ones you dont.

@Creohan Each class gets unique companions. They're all part of the class quest so no, you can't have the "tank sith inquisitor companion" if you're not a sith inquisitor.

@Beardboythegreat From what I experienced, each class gets their own unique companions and each class gets multiple ones. You get the option of which one you bring with you around, some times you're required to bring certain ones depending on the quest.
