  • If you contact the number that ulbobo posted, they have a cd with a lot of his folk songs on it, and they can set up a time for you to go see the post musical homestead.

  • I learned something tonight. I did not know that Bill and Doree Post did this song or the other one on your website. Here in OKC they had t 2 records which made the local survey of our top 40 radio station, WHEN HE WAS IN HIS TEENS in 1959 on Crest Records and in 1961 HOMING PIGEON on DJB Records. Good Post (No pun intended on that)

  • I just got off the phone with my Uncle Bill! (Bill Post) He told me he has no ache or pain in his 91 year old body. I was so very happy to talk to him, I had not been able to find a phone number or address for him. He moved back to his Family Farm Home with his son Johnny and his family. He seems to be enjoying his golden years and has a good life. I wish everyone knew that he was still kicking.

  • Truly, this has to be one of the most TREASURED LOVE SONG which could transcend any generations. Thx, Ed.

  • Reply to denverpecan: I rather doubt he would remember me. I was just a kid and he was an adult. But by all means you could let him know that even before I found this on Youtube, many times since I knew him, I have thought about him and wondered where and how he was. He was such a gentle, kind man, I never forgot. Thanks for visiting this kind man and for responding to my comment.

  • Rhonda818181--you'll be pleased to know Bill Post is still a gentle and kind man with a ready smile and a sharp mind and wit. I was surprised when mom told me he had returned to Ark City. Until very recently he lived and had a museum of his memorabila (sp). out west of town on the Post farm.

  • PS I'm trying to find a way for Bill to see and hear this video. It sounds like he doesn't have this one himself. I told him of the many, many viewings of Connie Steven's version. He was amazed. I wanted to show him but it has been removed.

  • I also have by Bill & Doree Valley High & I'll Never Graduate From You, both are very pretty songs also. Let me know if you want me to post them?

  • @dowopper51 yes please post Valley High and I'll never graduate from you... I'd love to hear that... I'm finding out lots of my family and i'm related to them!! would love to hear this!

  • Thanks for this! I was about 11 years old when I knew Bill Post. We went to church at a tiny little country church outside of Arkansas City, Kansas. I might have been young but I remember. I played Connie Steven's rendition over and over. Thanks again!!

  • Rhonda, you very welcome! Is Bill still performing? You must know jazer74 below, he also attented a church, could be the same one?

  • Bill (and Doree) have been long time friends of our family. Bill recently took an apartment at Arkansas City Presbyterian Manor. I saw him about a month ago and he spoke and performed at a family gathering. I was six and (with mom and dad) attended Bill and Doree's wedding. I have talked with Bill about old times and he truly enjoys the recollections. If you know him I'm sure he'd appreciate hearing from you.

  • Ahhhhhhh, nice version. BUT Connie had lips to die for !!!!

  • BUT Connie had lips to die for !!!!

Ahh, I was in love with her, sadly she never knew it!

  • This is such a great song, I can enjoy this version a lot, but I like Connie's The best.

  • AHHH, Connie had that SUPER SEXY voice, God she was GORGEOUS!!!!! Yes, I agree!

  • Yes, Connie-babe had drop-dead glamour and

    the aforementioned sexy (Whooo-HOOO!) voice.

But I like this version...well, to be honest

    I can't pick a favorite! I like this version

    as well as Connie's! (Whooo-HOOOO-HOOOOOOO!)

  • Oh I can understand, trust me on that! Actually, this has more group sound.

  • This has to be the writers of the song?? Never heard it before! One of my fav songs of all time by Connie Stevens and covered by the Lettermen which you can find on my channel! Great great stuff!

  • Wow, didn't know the Lettermen did it, I'll have to check it out, thanks!

  • Yes, this is the writers of the song singing. We were members of the same church in No. Hollywood, California in early 1960's. Sadly, Doree died of stomach cancer around 1964. Wonderful people that made a big impact on my life.

  • Ah that's too bad, sorry to hear that! Such a beautiful voice, real nice group sound, great job they did on this! What else did they do? Did you ever perform with them? Thanks for the info, I'll update the description.

  • Just checked my records. Doree died in 1961, nine months after she and her husband Bill adopted a newborn son. They did work with me when I was 16 or 17. Got me a contract with Warner Bros. Records. Didn't work out though. lol

  • Wow, sad! I just updated the year, thanks again. Did you ever record anything?
