Theres a difference between 40yd dash speed and pursuing speed. 40yd dash is just running straight, Lewis using angles to get there so the speed doesnt matter as much.

He also made an incredible play his first year running down a WR at full speed. Go look at the #10 Linebacking Corps - Ravens 2000 for the video. Lewis was INCREDIBLY fast when he first came in, although there is no denying Willis is much faster now, and amazing.

@PT49ersFan88 Actually you're incorrect about that. Lewis was running a 4.4 40 when he first came into the NFL. In the superbowl he ran down the Giant's RB multiple times. He also made an incredible play his first year running down a WR at full speed. Go look at the #10 Linebacking Corps - Ravens 2000 for the video. Lewis was INCREDIBLY fast when he first came in, although there is no denying Willis is much faster now, and amazing.

@PT49ersFan88 yo it's harder to put up amazing stats when all the players around you are good too. When you are on a crap team you have to make all the plays and your defense is always on the field. Also half the reason the players around Lewis are so good is because he inspires them and pumps them up.

I remember we were watching a game with a friend who only likes hockey and he was like, "who is number 52, he is in on EVERY play". Willis is his favorite player now. @YBRR88 that is a valid argument for an offensive player not a defensive one, so ray lewis had great players around him, that means he was on the field less, and there were other people who could tackle around him, ray lewis also was the leader of that defense, willis is a freak of nature and will prolly surpass all of lewis' numbers but he will never be able to elevate and motivate the players around him like ray did/ still does.

Lewis is an old vet. To compare tackle stats doesn't tell the whole tale. IMO, while Willis' career is young he probly will never be what Ray Lewis is. Ray is the best LB ever IMO. But Patrick is great and probably best right now.

and anyone who says lewis is better, has anyone considered tht they have the best defense because they have other players. u realize tht u cant run one way without getting tackled by suggs so u pretty much give lewis a tackle by running it up the middle.u give me one play where lewis chased down someone 50 yards down field like willis would and has. lewis would rather get a late cheap helmet to helmet and try and knock him out so u cant make a play against his bitch ass.
