  • At the time I never really thought much of this song, looking back I can see how cool it really is.

  • i remember just chilling in Jolly Roger Bay listening to this...dont quite remember the techno beat coming in though? lol.

Banjo Kazooie, this and Mariokart 64, timeless!!!

  • This plays when Chuck Norris meditates underwater

  • I cried.

  • About the only Mario song I can play perfectly on the piano lol

  • I was born WAY TO FUCKING LATE!

  • God this brings back memories... it's as if it sends me into some weird kind of hypnotic state.. Hypnotists should forget about waving a watch in peoples faces to trance them.. use things like this i.e. childhood memories... daydream state accomplished!

  • Just about every song on the N64 was perfect in their own way. My personal favorite is the LoZ: Ocarina of Time main theme, but like I said, they're all amazing!

  • One generations of gamer , and this song is their anthem.

  • OMG ! So many memories come back to me when I hear this melody ¤.¤ !!

  • @TMSonic1228 I literally feel the exact same way, I always used to dread it and be scared of the level where you need to get the star from the eels tail, but now I look back and wish like it was like old times, and it also makes me want to cry, no joke!

  • @reshiranDK This song also makes me want to cry, It was my first 64 Game I remember playing it at a very young age, and the first time that Listened to this song, Just Loved it =), and still Loving it, one of the most memorable songs through years of gaming n-n

  • @reshiranDK I still have Banjo Tooie, Super Mario 64 and Yoshi Story :D (and the Nintendo 64 :P)

  • This song defines my past. As a child, I dreaded this level because of the eel. Just like how I despised school and wanting to grow up. Now being 19, I look back and listen to this song and realize the beauty of it and my childhood. I miss it oh so much, that it makes me wanna cry. Thanks you Mario, for a childhood filled with greatness.

  • Rated K-A...for kickass! :3

  • At least once a year I have to dust off my n64 and play through this game, partially because of the music. :)

  • i knew this would be number one....your the man

  • Go to your local pawn shop and make an investment in a nintendo 64. Then, go buy all their games they have.

  • 0:00 repeat button...

  • This music is so good a tear rolled down my cheek. It definitely brings back memories.

  • i feel sad when i hear this it remindes me of old memorys and how we can never get them back we can only hold on to them and hope not to let go of them

  • @pauliex999 Or you can just go play the game on your 64...

  • This. Is how i sleep at night

  • @speshel55 its so peaceful isnt it

  • @speshel55 I do, too.

  • @speshel55 its also how i piss..

  • Tears come to my eyes when i hear this theme.. words can't describe the feeling i get.. the goosebumps i feel.

  • I'm in disbelief that gerudo's valley was not on this list

  • @TheSunderstorm gerudo valley theme is OVERRATED man!

  • completely agree with this as number 1, makes me want to go back and play it right now, (sigh) video games will never be as creative and inspiring as they were when i was a kid

  • The days of the N64...can't forget them, mario, 007 goldeneye, diddy kong racing

  • @joshieboy999 BANJO KAZOOIE!

  • @shaymin2348 yeah played that as well not as much but still a classic

  • @joshieboy999 HOW DARE YOU FORGET ZELDA: OCARINA OF TIME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @rulerofyourface memories of that game right :')

  • Star Fox 64, Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of time (and majora's mask), and Super mario 64 are the games that MADE nintendo! :D

  • Who gets sleepy from listening to this? I stayed up last night. Now

I'm EXHAUSTED! Time to sleeeeeeeep.......zzzzzzzzzzzzzz MMMM

    RAVIOLI....MMMMMM CANNOLONI.....MMMMM MAMMA MIA......

  • The world will never see another game like this...

  • Goomba: Click here for Koopa's Road!

    Me: *clicks*

    Goomba: OUCH!!!

  • i love this game

  • Finally, this song gets a number one spot

  • shit gets epic at 1:00

  • @SulkySackboy hipster :P

  • Does anyone else hear something so odd and so unique to the sound of this song? Everyone says it's piano, but it doesn't sound quite like piano... It sounds like this Indian sort of xylophone I played once with these little hammers. But that crossed with piano. I think that plays a huge role in the magical quality of the song.

  • I was playing piano and this song just came out for a moment, after that my older brother shouted: continue playing that mario song!

  • how can be music bringin old feelings back.. how can be tht game so awsome? well better for us lol but still got snes and 64 at home =3

  • Every time I here this song I feel like hugging someone and saying thank you.

  • this sounds similar to me in some parts to the song used in the old film The Adventures of Milo and Otis

  • @KabutoY I loved that movie as a child. Taught me the meaning of true friendship. Also, this song REALLY brings me back. Ah, the memories. Best N64 game I ever played...

  • il take the bk music over this

  • Not just on the N64, this is one of the greatest in all video game history !!!

  • They dont make music like this now a days.

  • -shivers- brings me memories of that horrid eel I used to fear

  • The eel probably set up my fear of large creatures. even though I was late to the party, this game and nintendo 64 was by far the best experience of gaming in my life.

  • so long gay bowser

  • having this song as wake-up alarm, will only make u go back 2 sleep .P

  • OMG THAT EEL SCARES ME

  • @theguywholovesMK OMG SOO TRUE

but I was like 9 lol

  • Me Gusta!

  • Number 1 all time gaming track song in my book.

  • YESSSSS I LOVE THIS MOTHERFUCKING SONG AND THIS GAME YESYESYESYES

  • this song still gives me the nostalgia chills, it feels so good to hear it again after all these years.

  • Haha when I download this off Mp3 Rocket (like limewire) the genre it was under was: porn music lmao

  • Guys listen !!! when i lost my virginity with my girlfriend i put this is song !!!!

  • They just don't make games like this anymore. The gaming audience is complaining about games being hard and so they just get easier, and easier, and easier. . . that's part of why I've gained the aspiration to be a video game developer. Too bad that's impossible without the proper funding of a failing democratic society where everyone is meant to have input. >_____>

  • @Shugo5775

Yes they fucking do. Stop saying this on every damn videogame video.

SMG2 just came out last year.

  • @Abazigal When did I say that they never made super mario games? You are so narrow minded! You think I just talk about the subject of the video game, i talk about the atmosphere, the soundtrack, the gameplay, the storyline, all of it combined. There are elements of these video games that make them what they are, a classic. SMG2 was NOT a classic. . .

  • Great list, sir. I'm very glad you put this at number 1. I used to go to Jolly Roger Bay and just let this play for ages!

  • FUCK YES I LOVE THIS SONG YYYYYYYYYYEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSS DIRE DIRE DOCKS BABY! FUCK YEAH!

  • heck yeh, this deserves to be at number one! WOOT!

  • This generation of Games was awesome =D

  • this should play at an indoor private pool.

  • Oh God, the memories...

Also I was afraid of the eel too.

  • I heard this now; and thought "Oh my gosh; I remember that level with the sunken ship rocking back and forth, and the chests..." Ah; nostalgia is a powerful tool, isn't it?

  • god damn dude, so many memories. getting me emotional lol

  • i cry

  • Great.Number One!!!

  • I gotta say, i always loved this song when I played this game when i was like 7. I gotta agree with you here man, great list..wish it had jet force gemini in the mix somewhere, then again that game is really underrated in every aspect. This one really brings back some good times.

  • so...peaceful

this music could probably stop the war in Iraq

  • @Dagaman64 lol xD

  • Best Nintendo 64 game next to Banjo Kazooie! This is my gf's favorite too!

  • @TheLegendarySuko are you insane? if any two games were to be next to eachother in the spot for the greatest n64 game it would be MM and OOT, btw awesome song

  • @ZeldavsMusic IT'S CALLED AN OPINION. (Sorry, but I'm tired right now)

  • I played this game as a 7 year old, I'm still afraid of that eel

  • @rulerofyourface Hey I'm not ashamed to say I'm still afraid of that eel too LOL

  • @rulerofyourface Me too :P

  • @rulerofyourface i agree with you and couldnt help but notice your awesome username

  • @rulerofyourface Ditto, mate.

  • @rulerofyourface Classical Conitioning ;)

  • @rulerofyourface SAME :(

  • @rulerofyourface Well i'm still afraid of the sound when you open the castle door for the first time , and then you hear this scary laughing voice.

  • @rulerofyourface They changed its eyes in the DS version, so it doesn't look as damn scary anymore lol

  • @JirachiMaster007 sorry to say but the DS version sucks .. :$ is just doesnt have the same feeling as the original game has, same goes for the old zelda games for instans OOT and MM are just so musch better then the stuff that came out on the Gamecube and the Wii, no in my opion no game will ever be as good as the games on the SNES and de N64 where

  • THANK YOU SO MUCH, Shigeru Miyamoto. S2

  • the 90 was the best childhood of all time, sweet nostalgia

  • no worries when i hear this song, when it goes off all i think of is debt

  • I remember when I was five years old, I would play this game with my dad and I was afraid of the eel. xD I still am. o.o Good times. <3

  • I swear I was about to choose this as my most favorite!

  • This is classic

  • No, I will try to not cry this time listening to this...

:'D good ol' times. Luckily, I still have this game for my old and beloved N64...

  • goomba:click here for koopa's road!

  • nothing will ever be better then the classicsNOTTHING!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • the good old times :x .. this song is so fantastic!

  • My older brother once got a N64 for Christmas. The first game I ever completed was Ocarina of time. This caused me to realize that stupid COD and HALO suck. N64 has the best games of all time and might just be, the greatest gaming console that will ever come out of anything. On that note, I leave you with one thing.

    COME BACK RARE!

  • I remember the first time i completed a game (Streets of Rage). that rewarding feeling, has completely died in gaming. The only game in recent memory to possess any sort of challenge for me has been Enslaved, which is sad really. Magic has died in video games, all thats left in its place is grey war-torn landscapes, apocolyptic worlds and mind-numbing fps's... Lol when i first played Mario Galaxy i felt like quoting Lisa Simpson ("blue, green, yellow, i remember all of these")

  • Navi:

Nintendo 64, we will always remember you as one of the best things that ever happend not only in the video game industry, but also in our lives, thank you nintendo.

  • i remember being champion ssb in my neighborhood good times

  • OMGG i play this game maybe 200 hours i got 100 stars =))))))

This is one of the most epic moments of my life =D Mario FTWW

  • I feel so privileged to have play video games in this time period. Im now in college and I went into my friend's dorm room and had out an N64 and we played Smash Bros and Goldeneye...took me back 8 or 9 years and i miss the good ol' days

  • @xee00 Damn right....I'd rather be born in the "N64" Era rather than Xbox or modern.

  • @PhazonicInfection I have be born 1 years before the N64 era. love the super nintendo, gameboy color, nintendo 64

  • @xee00 You played those games in 2003? wow, your parents must've been poor.

  • @Fooanton lets get your math right bro, I stated the comment in 2010...8 or 9 years ago would've been 2001 and 2002. And if you think about it as an 8 or 9 year old, do you think my parents would've bought me an xbox and the original halo at that age? THINK before you comment, dumbass.

  • @xee00 It's still fucking 5 years late. remember a kid in my school who got the playstation 1 when the second was released. He's still bullied and has no friends.

  • @Fooanton blah blah blah, shut the fuck up NO ONE likes people like you on the message boards--so don't even think about replying back cuz i guarantee you i won't respond

  • @xee00 This isn't really a message board, it's actually a comment section.

also I replied. I won. IN YOUR FACE!

  • @xee00 You said it! Todays' gaming is just atraucious.

  • @xee00 Dude I love the N64, it marked a period in gaming when games were freakin awesome and original. Today you just see so many games that repeat themselves (no originality.) Kids that were born after the release of N64 don't know what they missed out on starting from the NES.

  • @xee00 playing multiplayer was the best with goldeneye especially in the facility lol

  • @acatboy23 dude the facility was where I played and I'm sure that's where everyone else played just because it was the best and screenwatching everyone when the person respawn in the vents above the stalls and kill them easily. Takes me back man...

  • @xee00 Yup i loved hiding in those stalls lol

  • @xee00 May I ask why you choose to bring this up here? Instead of complimenting this beautiful music, like its brilliant volume balancing between each instrument, or the gracious fade in of all the violins notes, you choose to ignore it all aside and talk about the nostalgia of playing video games. Even if this music does bring back certain memory's from your past there are better and more on-topic places to talk about this.

  • @mrteddy6564 because I say/comment on anything i fucking want to. And if you have a problem with it, you can go take a black one in the ass.

  • @xee00 I really despise people like you. People who throw their weight around. People who have this unbelievably arrogant "I can act how I want and other people can suck it" attitude.

  • @Hirotoro4692 dude, its a comment board. I only say it when someone feels like they have the obligation to pinpoint my comment and chastise what I have to say. Please, despise me all you want; won't hurt me a smidge.

  • @xee00 I don't doubt that it won't hurt you a 'smidge'. It's just the tone "anything i fucking want to" that made you come across as a jerk. Good on you that it doesn't bother you.

  • @xee00 oh and the fact its a comment board doesn't justify telling someone to take a black one in the ass. seriously.

  • @Hirotoro4692 again, I will refer you to my comment above...

  • @xee00 What does your 'comment above' have to do with this? you mean the 'won't hurt a smidge" part? Telling you that the fact its a comment board and doesn't justify telling someone to take a black one in the ass isn't intended to hurt you, so why bother referring me to an irrelevant comment?

Take a step back and look at this entire pointless discussion. Do you feel your initial response to mrteddy6564 was justified, when his post was perfectly polite?

  • @Hirotoro4692 You are expanding this "pointless discussion." When someone points to me what I should comment on and where I should comment on it doesnt make much sense to me; my comment was somewhat related and it valued the discussion. My response was a little harsh indeed, maybe a little more than what I shouldve (it was a quick response) but it does mean that I meant what I meant; say what you want to say on youtube. If you get a confrontational question asked to you, expect a stingy response

  • Definitely gives off the feeling of being underwater.

  • I gotta leave this page asap, sorry guys I'm out like Falco when you shoot him too much. I'm about to shed some tears...aaagh fucking nostalgia.

  • @JonnyJinx04 Its old enough and awesome enough to be remembered forever

  • Come off it guys, Super Mario 64 isn't THAT old.

  • I'm 12, and in my opinion, the biggest part of my childhood has already abandon me. If it sucks that much to become an adult, then I'm going to have to start playing this game more while my N64 still works.

  • This is a beautiful track but personally I think Atlantic from Banjo Tooie is my favourite, it has the same beauty as this but the level is has for it is just perfect for the music.

  • Wow, this track...you forget all these things embedded in your brain maybe forever, but once it gets heard by accident all the memories come vividly.

  • this reminds me of a simpler time, we can never fully become as innocent and care free as we were but this song brings us those feelings of our childhood in the 90's again : )

  • What is the secret of nintendo?

Everything they do and create and sell, are always Great and whenever they fail on something , the next is even better and wins the market

  • Comment removed

  • very interessting, why did you pick that title as your number 1.

Is there some kind of very nice memory? :)

  • I liked this music its very calm and nostalic or whatever you call it , but.

I really hated this level and especialy the camara .

  • Comment removed

  • such nostalgia . omg .

  • v=1JEueGdQ5yQ

  • No Pilotwings Birdman theme in the list?!?!?!!?!?!?

  • Interesting choice as 1st, I'd think the Hyrule Field theme, but eh, that's my opinion

  • Dire dire docks...Excellent choice for number one! b^_^d

  • dude i wish sm64 would had more lvls... or maybe sm64 2 or something like this...

  • When Miyamoto dies, this has to be played at his funeral.

  • @PlasticPackage It will be a SAD SAD DAY for gaming when he dies. But his legend will live on forever. Hell, it better...

  • @PlasticPackage Miyamoto will Die someday like everyone, But Mario won't, And i wonder if he'll ever die... I mean nearly everyone knows him now... who doesn't know Mario? Goddamn, He's more famous than Mickey Mouse!!

  • @Elbarto2208 speaking of famous characters, i remember a book or something saying that ronald mcdonald is even more famous than santa clause. and when i read that, i was like, "who's ronald mcdonald?"

  • Nostaliga to the face!

    Best gaming system ever made!

    Amazing game!

  • If you like this music then i recommend you check out stickerbrush sympony from donkey kong country 2, it's alot like this song

  • One of my favorite levels, I loved Nessie(?), the monster in the lake!

  • @JaseAndrews Nessie the monster was in the Hazy Maze Cave course, not Dire Dire Docks.

  • Watch out for Unagi, the Eel!

  • @Kizuii The Eel was in Jolly Roger Bay course, not the Dire Dire Docks course

  • @theslyguy07 Wrong - he returns in Dire Dire Docks to give you a Star

  • i love this theme i could be staring at the ocean or under water listining to this song

  • Saria's song kicks this song's ass

  • @dudemaniroc

no, it sucks compared to this epic beauty.

  • ah yes i was so young, must have only been 7

  • @mattcolt How old are you now?

  • This is... nostalgic!

    I almost cried, no joke!!!

  • u know this game has been released for the DS but now with a bit more levels stars and yes even more characters!

now you can play with mario, luigi, wario, and yoshi

    isnt that awsome brah?

  • @prorrie To bad it can't compare to the original
