Khorasan includes iran afghanistan and parts of pakistan etc, its clearly not a national army, there are so many 'imam mahdi' armies all over the muslim world, and yes iran has high capability so there is a high chance. Basically there is no certainty. But remember Nationalism is not allowed in Islam so saying its an 'Iranian' army would not make sense.

i have found out that Khorasan was always in Persia and always remain in persia. (Iran). Dr. Israar Ahmed was a deobandi. he was NOT a geologist historian. You ask any historian .. that Khorasan was always was even in the time of the Prophet and before his time, and after his time.. until today.. 98 percent of Khorasan was and still is in Persia.
