I have a few guns but that is not a solution for everything?
I carry a gun my friends going to carry one.
Because we carry my enemy's are carrying them now
So what happens?
Look in my neighboorhood a lot of gun crime a lot of murder and even more injuries. Last year 4 friends of me are shot dead and a LOT more murders are taking place we can't even count them every night more people get shot arround here so is that what you want?
Uh no, not intended to offend you, it's the emotional subtext I read in your statement.
I've debated with a few republicans in my time, and they are all closet national socialists. They wanna take away individual freedoms in the name of "God and Country"
"Its better to have a gun and not need it,than to need a gun and not have it." Nobody that carries a gun wants to kill someone or is hoping that they will. They carry them because they know that there are really bad people in this world and they want to be prepared just in case they meet one of those people.I don't expect to have a flat tire every time I drive somewhere. But I still have a spare tire in the trunk.Being prepared isn't a bad thing.
You can't say "I never needed one, so nobody should have them, they aren't needed." How much do you value your life? I don't want mine in someone elses hands.
…adults have concealed weapons licenses. That is 1 in every 23 people. Think about how many places you go to in public where there are 23 or more adults at one time. That 1 could save the lives of the other 22 in an emergency and there doesn’t have to be a shift of public behavior because that is the way things already are. There doesn’t need to be a large percentage of gun owners for guns to make people safe like you suggest.
You could carry a gun your entire life and never use it and some might consider that a waste of time, but you only need to use a gun once to save your own life and validate your efforts. Even if you don't ever have to protect your own life, being ready to do so is still time well spent because no one ever knows when or where they will be thrown into a life or death situation. Having a gun is not irrational or expensive or difficult in the long run. Also, where I live approximately 4.3% of…
Do you have smoke detectors in your home. You may go to your grave of old age never having a house fire, but isn't it nice to know they are there if you do? Do you have a savings account? You may never have a need for emergency funds, but isn't it nice to know you have money in the bank if you do? Owning a firearm and carrying concealed is nothing more than insurance and the comforting feeling that having it will at least give you options if ever needed, but pray you never do need it.
I carry concealed everyday. I have had 2 cases where I was glad I had a gun on me. Once was hiking in the woods when a pack of wild dogs started towards me with ears drawn back and serious stare. One shot sent them running off. In downtown ATL a beggar became forceful with me and told me he was going to take my money. I let him see I had a holstered weapon with my hand resting on it and he turned and walked away.
The only way to stop deadly force is with deadly force. Attempting anything else without the deadly force to back it up is ludicrous, wasteful of human life and ignorant.

Your correct that the chances for needing it aren't that great but it is something I can easily be prepared for. I have carried concealed every day for 5 years since I was of legal age. There have been times where I was glad I had it. You only have one life so why not protect it? I also wouldn't ever drive a car without a fire extinguisher yet I have never needed it.
How many times have I been involved in a shooting? none. But I bet a few victims at VTech thought to him/herself, "I wish my 9mm wasn't locked up in my safe." I practice monthly with my firearm, praying that I'd never have to use it against anyone, but in the event that I do, I know I'll be prepared. I like the idea that I'll have a better chance of not becoming a statistic or a blood spot on the sidewalk and the 24oz of steel is a small inconvience. "Semper Paratus" I AM A CCW ARMED AMERICAN.

There was a story about a man that came to a river and built a raft to cross it. After he crossed it he thought there might be another river along his path. So he carried the raft the rest of his life.
Has there been any movie made in the US in the last 10 years that did not involve the use of guns in public? There seems to be some adgenda in the "entertainment business" to seed the public's mind that to be constantly armed is a natural state of being.
Mobile phones could be armed in the future. Everyone can then blow each other to bits. The main thing on everyones mind is their owm mistrust of the government since the "war on terror" and a fear that anyone can become an "enemy of the state" simply by critisising government policy.
Oh MetaBob, you have so much more patience than I ever will. I don't even know why you decide to respond to this man. But props to you for keeping sane about the whole situation.
guns are the only reason why we are not all slaves to the goverment and the state.and if one or 2 of the students of the tech shootings had a gun 32 people wouldnt of died or how ever much died.
A gun doesn't automaticly make you safe. Saw a documentary about that. You have to know how to use it. By that I don't mean technically but being able to shot someone without hesitation. Myself, I don't like guns. They make me sick somehow. An ugly thing I don't want in my possession.
A gun is a tool. To characterize it as 'ugly' or 'making you sick' is to give an inanimate object a power that it doesn't deserve. You might try educating yourself on firearms a bit before you make statements like this. Ignorance is your enemy.
Well I have tried some firearms. That includs rifle, shotgun and Winchester. Have also used a heavy machine gun. You are always two when you use those because one has to change the barrel. It gets hot after a while. So you see; I know some but still don't like it. The reason is I associate it with death and destruction.
Try a handgun and get some quality training; an hour or so should suffice. There's no reason to feel anything for a gun that you wouldn't feel for a screwdriver or monkey wrench. Rather than associating a gun with death and destruction, look upon it as a tool for your personal protection. For the law abiding citizen, the gun is a defensive tool, and we hope to never use it.
I might consider a rifle but never a handgun. It's too easy to kill yourself with :) When I was in Israel people walked around with guns. Not just military but ordinary people with a gun in their belt. Was strange to see. I think it creates violence. In Britain they have bobbies who are unarmed, which is unique.
I would suggest that people create violence. The media would have you believe that people are stupid, irrational animals when a firearm is available, and ordinary, docile individuals become killers. This couldn't be further from the truth. The fact is when law abiding citizens are arms, they generally become a bit more mature because they know what is at stake if they should allow themselves to become entangled in an argument. It is the criminal who doesn't care about the consequences.
An example: A guy went to a club. They didn't let him in, probably because he had a dark skin and accent. It made him so angry he went home, took his gun and went back to the place. Four people were killed. I believe people are driven more by emotion than rational thought. A gun can easily become an extension of fear and anger. If you don't have one you are forced to deal with the problems in a different way.
You're still talking about penalizing a society for the immaturity and stupidity of a few individuals. If our society focused more on personal responsibility and the consequences of one's actions rather than 2 + 2 equals 5 if it makes you feel good, maybe we'd produce fewer violent morons.
Generally those who say "If they had a gun they would kill someone" means that is what YOU would do in that situation. So it is probably best you DON'T have a gun, as you would use it as you fear others would.
guns in every house will not solve the problem at all, people do not realize this simple fact ;), on the other hand world are not ready yet to change conflicts with sports and games.
Sounds good. Where should we start? Our continually declining public schools? The mass-idiocy pumped into our children's heads through the mass media? Where? Until you get everybody to wise up, I'll keep my gun right here on my hip, thank you very much.
Ummm, it's how our country was founded. Somewhere in the Federalist Papers it's spelled out very clearly. Guns prevent citizens from becoming subjects.
That's sentiment, not reality. A minuteman fired "the shot heard round the world." But to win, it took a standing army, arms from France, plus major help from the French army and navy. And that's against a government with only 18th century tech.
In 1860 a bunch of U.S. citizens tried to get the government off their backs in a little thing called the Civil War. Again, conventional army, foreign allies. And they lost. Then the "armed citizens" took their shot: they were called the Klan.
There would have been no 'shot heard around the world' with an unarmed populace. As for the Klan, they actually achieved many of their early goals, and defeating the Northern troops was not one of them.
Metabob, you make YouTube worthwhile. Many excellent points. I can honestly say that I am forced to think. More importantly, I would like to place an order for one adult male gas mask, please.
Sorry, but like my mom, once I have something I'm loathe to let it out of my clutches.
Besides, if I ever get caught in a gigantic poison gas terror attack, I think it would be hilarious for the clean up squad to find my body where I died struggling with seven unused, plastic-wrapped gas masks.
I'm surprised not to even hear the suggestion that a senario with Cho without a gun is better than Cho with a gun, surrounded by people with guns. If NOBODY had guns, no one would get shot. Arming every citizen in the country is like arming every nation on earth with a nuke.
and thats why the Nazi's didn't invade. 40,000 soldiers or so marching into a city of a couple million, where about 750,000 civilians have guns? ontop of the army? ever nazi would've been killed while they were runnign out. so about a million armed people verses even a ton of nazi troops also with the motivation to keep their sovereignty and to repell and invader made them unstoppable, so hitler decided to just STFO (stay the fuck out)
Arizona... land of my birth! If you watch the opening shots of Hitchcock's "Psycho" where the camera pans over downtown Phoenix circa 1959, I was a baby somewhere in that city.
Some people seem to talk about having guns as if they are actually looking forward to having to use them. Wondering (now, 'cause I haven't thought about it) if it is a hero wish.
yes, yes, everyone should wear gas masks, full body armour (think big, like with its own AC unit) and carry a bazooka at all times. and always keep a couple of bomb blankets in the trunk.
clockwork, I know you left a comment pointing me to your "Here Lies Civilization" vid, and now I can't find it. I don't know if I accidentally deleted it, or if YT's latest comment-redesign screw-up is hiding it from me...
Anyway, your vid upsets and disturbs me. But I have a question before I try to comment: are you advocating some kind of legal change based on these events? Are you just making a personal statement?
I'm venting. I was angry. I don't advocate anything for anyone else at all. There can be no unregulated justice, it wouldn't be justice. But I will defend my property in light of this fact. We can't let crooks walk all over us. Or rape us. If the cops don't respond in time then maybe the innocent should respond on their own. That's the thought (not an endorsement)
A crazed killer is ready to kill. He has "manned" himself up to it for days, weeks, months in advance. The reaction of most people when bullets start flying is to crouch, shit their pants (literally) or start running... Gun or no gun! For most people it takes preparation to fight. When suddenly someone starts shooting there is no preparation!
Check yourself out at exactly 8:21. I just happened to pause it there. It's a rather priceless image. I'm not sure what the caption should be though (but it deserves one).
Oops, forgot to re-comment. Yes it was! A variety of well-made points, the best of which being the gas mask one. I might as well have a dodecahedron in my pocket at all times to explain to people what it is, but I've never been in that situation. ;D

TyroneSandalphon 4 years ago
Mobile phones could be armed in the future. Everyone can then blow each other to bits. The main thing on everyones mind is their owm mistrust of the government since the "war on terror" and a fear that anyone can become an "enemy of the state" simply by critisising government policy.
TyroneSandalphon 4 years ago
the "idea" or law that you have the right to be armed if you wish is conforting in these times of such epic mistrust of the government.

Good point with the gas masks, Bob.
Don't forget to duck and cover! =)

guns are the only reason why we are not all slaves to the goverment and the state.and if one or 2 of the students of the tech shootings had a gun 32 people wouldnt of died or how ever much died.
wrathmaster 4 years ago
A gun doesn't automaticly make you safe. Saw a documentary about that. You have to know how to use it. By that I don't mean technically but being able to shot someone without hesitation. Myself, I don't like guns. They make me sick somehow. An ugly thing I don't want in my possession.
squiggey 4 years ago
A gun is a tool. To characterize it as 'ugly' or 'making you sick' is to give an inanimate object a power that it doesn't deserve. You might try educating yourself on firearms a bit before you make statements like this. Ignorance is your enemy.
ResponsibleGunOwner 4 years ago
Well I have tried some firearms. That includs rifle, shotgun and Winchester. Have also used a heavy machine gun. You are always two when you use those because one has to change the barrel. It gets hot after a while. So you see; I know some but still don't like it. The reason is I associate it with death and destruction.
squiggey 4 years ago
Try a handgun and get some quality training; an hour or so should suffice. There's no reason to feel anything for a gun that you wouldn't feel for a screwdriver or monkey wrench. Rather than associating a gun with death and destruction, look upon it as a tool for your personal protection. For the law abiding citizen, the gun is a defensive tool, and we hope to never use it.
ResponsibleGunOwner 4 years ago 2
I might consider a rifle but never a handgun. It's too easy to kill yourself with :) When I was in Israel people walked around with guns. Not just military but ordinary people with a gun in their belt. Was strange to see. I think it creates violence. In Britain they have bobbies who are unarmed, which is unique.
squiggey 4 years ago
I would suggest that people create violence. The media would have you believe that people are stupid, irrational animals when a firearm is available, and ordinary, docile individuals become killers. This couldn't be further from the truth. The fact is when law abiding citizens are arms, they generally become a bit more mature because they know what is at stake if they should allow themselves to become entangled in an argument. It is the criminal who doesn't care about the consequences.
ResponsibleGunOwner 4 years ago
An example: A guy went to a club. They didn't let him in, probably because he had a dark skin and accent. It made him so angry he went home, took his gun and went back to the place. Four people were killed. I believe people are driven more by emotion than rational thought. A gun can easily become an extension of fear and anger. If you don't have one you are forced to deal with the problems in a different way.
squiggey 4 years ago
You're still talking about penalizing a society for the immaturity and stupidity of a few individuals. If our society focused more on personal responsibility and the consequences of one's actions rather than 2 + 2 equals 5 if it makes you feel good, maybe we'd produce fewer violent morons.
ResponsibleGunOwner 4 years ago 2
Generally those who say "If they had a gun they would kill someone" means that is what YOU would do in that situation. So it is probably best you DON'T have a gun, as you would use it as you fear others would.

Sounds nice. But we may have to settle for less guns, more video games.

guns in every house will not solve the problem at all, people do not realize this simple fact ;), on the other hand world are not ready yet to change conflicts with sports and games.
JerbatimSerex 4 years ago
Sounds good. Where should we start? Our continually declining public schools? The mass-idiocy pumped into our children's heads through the mass media? Where? Until you get everybody to wise up, I'll keep my gun right here on my hip, thank you very much.
ResponsibleGunOwner 4 years ago
Bob, you completely miss the point of having armed citizens. The guns are so the citizens can protect themselves from the THE GOVERNMENT.
zooly3 4 years ago
exactly good point
FreeHeathen 4 years ago
zooly, that's a silly fantasy.
MetaBob 4 years ago
Ummm, it's how our country was founded. Somewhere in the Federalist Papers it's spelled out very clearly. Guns prevent citizens from becoming subjects.
zooly3 4 years ago
That's sentiment, not reality. A minuteman fired "the shot heard round the world." But to win, it took a standing army, arms from France, plus major help from the French army and navy. And that's against a government with only 18th century tech.
In 1860 a bunch of U.S. citizens tried to get the government off their backs in a little thing called the Civil War. Again, conventional army, foreign allies. And they lost. Then the "armed citizens" took their shot: they were called the Klan.
MetaBob 4 years ago
There would have been no 'shot heard around the world' with an unarmed populace. As for the Klan, they actually achieved many of their early goals, and defeating the Northern troops was not one of them.

Metabob, you make YouTube worthwhile. Many excellent points. I can honestly say that I am forced to think. More importantly, I would like to place an order for one adult male gas mask, please.
adventureindustries 4 years ago
Sorry, but like my mom, once I have something I'm loathe to let it out of my clutches.
Besides, if I ever get caught in a gigantic poison gas terror attack, I think it would be hilarious for the clean up squad to find my body where I died struggling with seven unused, plastic-wrapped gas masks.

Sometimes I just feel all mushy and soft-hearted when I watch your videos, MetaBob.
I need to "get control" of my room, too. Can I send my extra junk to you, or should I just get a gun and shoot it all?

I'm surprised not to even hear the suggestion that a senario with Cho without a gun is better than Cho with a gun, surrounded by people with guns. If NOBODY had guns, no one would get shot. Arming every citizen in the country is like arming every nation on earth with a nuke.

and thats why the Nazi's didn't invade. 40,000 soldiers or so marching into a city of a couple million, where about 750,000 civilians have guns? ontop of the army? ever nazi would've been killed while they were runnign out. so about a million armed people verses even a ton of nazi troops also with the motivation to keep their sovereignty and to repell and invader made them unstoppable, so hitler decided to just STFO (stay the fuck out)

clockwork, I know you left a comment pointing me to your "Here Lies Civilization" vid, and now I can't find it. I don't know if I accidentally deleted it, or if YT's latest comment-redesign screw-up is hiding it from me...
Anyway, your vid upsets and disturbs me. But I have a question before I try to comment: are you advocating some kind of legal change based on these events? Are you just making a personal statement?
MetaBob 4 years ago
I'm venting. I was angry. I don't advocate anything for anyone else at all. There can be no unregulated justice, it wouldn't be justice. But I will defend my property in light of this fact. We can't let crooks walk all over us. Or rape us. If the cops don't respond in time then maybe the innocent should respond on their own. That's the thought (not an endorsement)
clockworkhorrorshow 4 years ago
A crazed killer is ready to kill. He has "manned" himself up to it for days, weeks, months in advance. The reaction of most people when bullets start flying is to crouch, shit their pants (literally) or start running... Gun or no gun! For most people it takes preparation to fight. When suddenly someone starts shooting there is no preparation!

I could use a gas mask for when I'm around my mom during dinner time.
