@TheSupraTRD More like Japanese Version of The Undertaker, in terms of respect. Rey Mysterio Jr cant even be compared to Liger. Rey is a little mexican jumping bean compared to the legendary Jushin "Thunder" Liger.
@Akiko9Haikyo dude, i live in california, but if you get me like an autographed picture dude i will totally pay what its worth and some extra for you, no joke. let me know!! liger is legend!
Well Ill see what i can do! there sure gonna be lots of people there, but iLl try my best! let s just keep contact on yotube ! i du not know yet if there s an otograph session or somehing!
@skrlxrs actually Liger was wrestling in California on January 30 as part of PWG Kurt Russelmania for WrestleReunion 4 in LA in an excellent match against El Generico
Unfortunately, Justin "Thunder" Liger will not be able to attend Anime North this year, due to conflicting commitments. We will have a new wrestling guest to announce shortly.
And I wonder why i play and buy Imported games of Wrestling from Dreamcast days to The Modded 360's and PS3's of today! Just for a chance to play as these AWESOME Wrestlers! WWE = Epic Fail Compaired to this!
@bigtonybricks lol, i never had money to mod, so i'd pick up the PS2 era WWF games and they'd have all the create-a-wrestler parts to make puro dudes. i had a huge roster with liger, hayabusa, muta, ultimo dragon and tons of other dudes. it was great! and totally agree!
@DarkenedMysts Liger, Muta, Dragon, Tiger Mask, Misawa, Hayabusha, Sasuke, Michinoku.... goddamn, no one in America can hold a fucking candle to these legends.
@BM5072 Haha, eh, no. only good thing TAKA has done was create the Kaientai Dojo indy promotion and had a good run in the first years of his WWE career. other than that, he's not qualified for being legend.
I'm very impressed how the two themes are able to blend together so well. And awesome video as well. Liger is quite possibly the best Japanese wrestler, ever.
Liger is a dam great wrestler, but i think he ranks second in the very best junior heavyweights ever in wrestling, the 1st being of course, the original Tiger Mask!!! Awesome MV bro
Liger was there for the X-Cup, all the TNA fans really knew was he was a big deal in Japan, so Joe beating him helped a young guys career. Why would TNA say, 'Hey, we want Samoa Joe to be our big guy.. let's job him out to a guy who's going home in a week.'
And to the upward comment, Misawa was no McMahon? The man booked himself to win in his own promotion constantly, Joe didn't job out of respect for Misawa, Joe didn't have a choice in the matter. Joe jobbed out of respect to Kobashi.
So it's ok for a jap to come to the US and job, but its not ok for an american to job out to Misawa? u just contradicted ur original point. Misawa started a company called NOAH and changed the face of japanese wrestling. Never would a japanese promotion have a junior heavyweight like Marafuji be there world champion until Misawa started NOAH. he was selfless. you have no idea what ur talking about. Joe is a nobody in Japan. Remember Misawa lost to Joe the night before there match.
the prime difference in Misawa and mcmahon would be that Misawa was a legendary on air talent, and Mcmahon was a rich blowhard who's claim to fame is a single handed massacre of the american wrestling industry.
Joe originally used one of the many emerald frusion/fusion/flowsion variations and has been recorded as saying how big of an honor it would be to job to misawa.
I dunno why, but I can't really get into Liger matches. To me, he seems really bulky and stiff (i mean non-flexible, not hard harding). I guess I think he just looks kind of awkward. He is still one of the greats, I just don't really like him.
Samoa Joe defeated Misawa in a tag match to establish himself as a contender. Misawa beat Joe because Joe did what he was told. Joe was never going to win the GHC title. why wud he? he doesnt work for NOAH?
i'm not sure i get why this is in contradiction to what i am saying. the point i was making is that if you are a promoter its' good buissiness to keep top stars from other countries on a top tier while in your promotion. it helps to create stars and advance talent. I'm not sure if i ever said anything about Joe needing to win the GHC title.
JUUSHIN THUNDER LIIIIIGAAAAR! :) HUGE fan of THE man. Easily one of the most influential people in the history or wrestling. I love how comprehensive this tribute was. If the music hadn't needed to be looped, I'dve given it TWO times 5 stars. XD
That match wasn't about Liger so much as pushing Joe. If a big name from Japan came to WWE for ONE match, I think tehy'd job him there too. Just kinda how it works, I guess. =/
Genichiro Tenryu had a run in WWE and they pushed him in no way at all, and he was japan's hogan. Ultimo Dragon was there forever in 2003,and they didn't do anything at all with him....in Lyger vs Joe the reason it was important for joe to win is because of him being the "undefeated next big thing" kinda guy, it would look good to defeat a japanese legend. as lyger had already cemented being his legacy, it did him no harm to add to Joe's
Tenryu was not employed by WWE, yet had an interpromotional deal with them, so who cares if they didn't push him? Besides, isn't him getting a win over Demolition who were the most dominant team in the WWE at the time and had a big winning streak good enough? Also, Ultimo Dragon was only in WWE so he could fulfill his dream of performing at MSG and Wrestlemania. They didn't need to push him. Seriously, misguided WWE hate gets old fast.
if you think that Tenryu and Ultimo Dragon aren't worthy of, at the least, a proper build into just one major match , then that's your perspective. In my opinion there was money to be made in Tenryu and Dragon, that's why i used these examples specifically. it shows how they really do drop the ball. it may not be "important" to push these guys, but you have to be a damn fool to not see the money to be made.and in "showbiz" that's what's "important" my friend.
Aren't worthy of a big match? Did you completely ignore my Demolition comment? Yeah, it was a bad match, but it's big in it's own right considering who his opponents were. And what money could be made in pushing guys who weren't planning on staying in the company fulltime in the first place?
"YEAH! Let's put Tenryu over some of our biggest stars! Sure, we can ignore the fact that he's just going to return to Japan a few months later thus making our decision pointless, but damn! ALL THAT MONEY!"
I am not one to drop names, but I met Keiichi at the Peace Festival in 1996, and he willingly signed autographs and took pics WITHOUT HIS MASK after the show at the hotel... I have a LOT OF LOVE AND RESPECT for him.... more than I can say for Great Sasuke
CMLL - AAA lucha style, just basic just "elegant" non technical wrestling. Liger is "way to go" to top non-clasic mexican technical wrestling, the less comercial and viewed for sure ("underground"). Is like a kid jumping if you compare his style to one of that of a real lucha master like one of this four: watch?v=99DIlQeqHKY UWA lucha style, the real deal...not even "shoot".
@ZigRoc97 i have to say that in 2002-2003 when Batista was still a rockie his powerbomb was tremendous... trully violent as well as his spinebuster...
but as his carrer got bigger both moves got weaker and weaker... his "spear" doesn`t even deserves to be mentioned,...
I think the reason why I like Japanese wrestlers is because they always seem to reinvent themselves. And they take risks when it comes to trying out new moves, lol.
There have been. WCW had workers like Jado, Gedo and Yuji Nagata, ECW worked with FMW, TNA has some guys come in, and a few indy feds have working agreements with Japanese promotions. WCW did a few full fledged "east meets west" events in the 90s too.
Don't forget WCW had some of Ultimo's students (CIMA, SUWA, Sumo Fuji, Dragon Kid, and Tokyo Magnum) there.
As for East meets West events, who can forget that Japan vs. U.S. World Cup of Wrestling (or something like that) where Liger, Otani, Sasaki, Tenzan, and Chono wrestled against WCW wrestlers in a best-of-5 series.
I'd love to see Malenko vs. Liger in their prime. I know they've wrestled before, but Liger was probably in the worst he'd ever been at the time in the mid-90s
You did a good job, my brother, good video timing with the rhythm of the song. Ultimo Dragon may be my favorite crusierweight, but my god, Liger is quite literally, a crusierweight beast!
i have seen liger wrestle in milwaukee, wisconsin at a pay per view called superbrawl 2.he was fighting the late brian pillman.JUSHIN LIGER IA A TRUE LEGEND.
Great clips. I started watching WCW because of Liger, and Flair. His Shooting Star Press, Delayed Vertical Brainbuster and his Shotei are all just awesome.

Liger is my favorite wrestler of all times. If it wasn't for him I wouldn't have ever discovered the joys of puroresu.

You did a good job, my brother, good video timing with the rhythm of the song. Ultimo Dragon may be my favorite crusierweight, but my god, Liger is quite literally, a crusierweight beast!

Great clips. I started watching WCW because of Liger, and Flair. His Shooting Star Press, Delayed Vertical Brainbuster and his Shotei are all just awesome.

Great video and tribute. Jushin Liger's my 3rd favourite wrestler of all time behind Bret Hart & Shawn Michaels. Absolute legend!

is there any story behind the change of costumes eg all black, or is it just because he fancied a change
LittleHengler 3 years ago 3
