a very good insight into data mining, it is simply analyzing ones existing database to find patterns and/or behavior to enhance the decision making process.... thanks for this!
I believe that dta mining is a "novel approach" of statistics a the name is attractive but be careful if you make a confusing question to resolve by data mining you can make a buddin or track o numbers that ocasionally, is so dangerus, therefoe please do not say data mining is easy!
i don't agree with the definitions given for what data mining is. Data Mining is more than data querying, like it is stated in this video, the most essential thing about data mining is retrieving non-trivial, unknown information from very large amounts of data.
Data mining to me is not exactly "retrieving... information... from very large amounts of data". I understand it to query 'select, relevant and qualified samplings' of data so one retrieves 'patterns' of behavior -- meaning group behavior. Like -- for example, the number BMW owners in Chicago (age 29 to 39) who bought a pair of sunglasses (priced $200 to $400). This information is easily scraped from a forum database if these sunglasses were advertised and purchased in a BMW forum.
@verone2400 You've made a subjective statement. Data mining in general is basically just the uncovering of patterns from a set of data. Definitions are what are given in this video you made a point to submit opinion about how or why people should data mine...

@Pow3rGaming
I have a research degree in Data Mining so I think I know what the definition of the Data Mining is ;)

@verone2400 I think you could have found a less cocky way to support your definition. Most scholars prefer citation, not credentials.
