  • YOure right. Liz was totally snubbed that year. She was one of the best actresses in soap history. She sooo should have won that year. God I miss As the world Turns. These were the glory days of soaps.

  • That was Elizabeth Hubbard's Emmy by right. Despite being a two-time Emmy winner, it's truly a crime that great actress never won for her brilliant creation of Lucinda Walsh on ATWT.

  • Liz Hubbard - totally and utterly ROBBED!!!!!

  • How did Elizabeth Hubbard never win an Emmy for playing Lucinda? It's criminal.

  • A great day for ATWT, - 31 yrs and they still had 23 more to go!!

  • What a shame that Hubbard never won an Emmy for ATWT. Hard to believe that each year that she was nominated, the panel thought some other actress was better.

  • All the comments regarding Elizabeth Hubbard being ROBBED are right on. Two years later Hubbard submitted an equally powerful emmy reel and was easily the best of the bunch...she didn't win. She again lost to Kim Zimmer. Hubbard has been nominated 9 times for As the World Turns and has never won...that fact is tragically criminal. By my count she should have won at least 3 times for portraying Lucinda Walsh...1987, 1989 & 1993. She should have been nommed in 2006 for the breast cancer story

  • @thmspierson You said it! I've watched the emmys for the last 10 years or so and nothing compares to the performances from the 80's. Even though nominated in this role about 10 times, for her to have never won is just unforgiveable -- especially when you see the performers they hand emmys to now a days. Kathryn Hays (Kim) was another power hitter in the 70's and 80's and I don't even think she's ever even been nominated. It took 35 years for them to hand one to Jeanne Cooper (Y&R). ??

  • @TimsDale4ever Kathryn Hays is so subtle in her portrayal of Kim, and that type of performance often gets overlooked. I think Hays did her best work in 1990 when the Bob/Kim/Susan storyline was airing. I completely agree that the real talent on these shows gets overlooked. Beverlee McKinsey was never nominated for her brilliant Alexandra Spaulding...It really upsets me...I consider Elizabeth Hubbard one of the greatest living actresses of our time and her Lucinda Walsh is a masterpiece.

  • @thmspierson Two years later Elizabeth Hubbard was robbed by Kim Zimmer? Bullshit. Marcy Walker won in 1989 for her role as Eden Capwell on Santa Barbara. Marcy's submission was flat-out better than Hubbard's. One of the actors who talked about voting on the Emmys, as a voter himself, says that you can't go by anything but the submission tape. If Hubbard was losing, it was because her tapes simply weren't good--and remember that those tapes aren't these brief clips, but ten minutes of footage.

  • @Aquaria I meant three years later.

  • In this video Kim Zimmer reminds me of Lucille Ball,I would Love to see Kim do a play as Lucy.

  • kim zimmer number 1 no one can transmit emotions as she

  • Bra please!

  • Love Kim Zimmer! she's amazing

  • Kim Zimmer is Great at everything she does,Kim is the Best actress in day time.

  • I freaking loathe Kim Zimmer. She sucks and her clips suck, though it's not nearly as bad as the awfulness that was Lucci's.

And I agree- Liz Hubbard's clip was powerful and easily the best of the bunch. Though I wasn't a fan back then, it saddens me now that she's never won for her work on ATWT.

  • Ummm...Coop (John Driscoll) is on Y&R - just wanted to clear that up! And I love these clips of Kim Zimmerman - she rocks then and now!

    Thanks for posting!

  • Was Marcy Walker up for Best Actress that year? I wish I could have seen that clip of hers in its entirety:)

  • She was and I would have liked to have seen the clip as well. I think I remember the episode that it's taken from.

  • kim zimmer was huge in the 80's. she was so great and look how good she looks!!!!!!

can anyone tell me what she submitted back then? what was going on in that scene? i also wonder if susan lucci had a nose job

  • AMC SUCKS! This prove a point the GL has the best cast on Daytime. The GL shuld not be taking off the air

    AMC stole GUS Guiding Light

    AMC Stole BUZZ Guiding Light

    AMC Stole Harly Guiding Light

    AMC Stole Tammy Guiding Light

    AMC stole Coop Guiding Light

    AMC Stole Greenlea Guiding Light

AMC stole everybody all in the same YEAR! That suck y they gotta steal Guiding Light talent! Y not make there own talent?

Im done with soaps.I dont care if all of them r taking off the Air FUCK THEM ALL

  • I don't know any of these actresses but the first lady should have won it looks to me. I believed her. I know he better told that woman like she told him to.

  • LIz Hubbard--Lucinda of ATWT-

I agree with another poster--she was robbed that year--It wasn't just that scene-

She was great all that season

  • Kim Zimmer is the best n daytime.

GL is the best show n daytime along with DOOL.

  • It was Kim Zimmer's Year,she won.

  • elizabeth's talent could not ever stand up to KIM ZIMMER.

  • Liz was robbed that year--sorry

And I love Kim really but that wasn't her year

  • Kim Zimmer is the still the best female n daytime!!!!!

  • @patc2000 I think this was an apology award, for not giving it to Zimmer the year before, when she deserved it for her portrayal of Reva's suicide attempt, its aftermath, and the volatile love affair with Kyle Sampson.

  • Are you on Crack? Liz was on FIRE and was ROBBED by Zimmer.

  • Kim is the best n daytime.

  • I think we can all see which clip comes from a Douglas Marland show, can't we? :)

  • Doug has been dead 15 years now--

He was and is the king--In my opinion

and that was a lousy clip for Kim to submit lol

  • Kim zimmer was great

  • Alice and Jennifer!!! Hahahaha!! Doesn't Alice know that marriage was invalid apparently?? Lol....anothe rSusan Lucci nominee.

  • WOW to that clip of Elizabeth Hubbard - she rocks! That was fierce. And yay to ATWT's win. I really wish I was watching ATWT back then, I missed out on so much good stuff.

  • Oh you sure did miss out on probably the best of ATWT then--

That's when I started keeping my tapes for the most part

and am so happy I have them--just so I can relive them--Comes in good at times like now

when Chucky rules and Martha is leaving

  • Is it just me or does it look like Lucci has had a nosejob?

  • Love seeing Daytime Emmy clips--especially the vintage ones....I love Kim Zimmer and Reva...I do think Elizabeth was robbed

  • Marcy Walker was ROBBED!

  • Wow! Awesome to see old Daytime Emmy clips! Go Kim Zimmer! Seeing Frances Reid was very cute too.

  • Elizabeth Hubbard was ROBBED.

  • i AGREE

  • Thanks for posting this patc2000! I love seeing these "oldies". Poor Kim, she looks so overcome with emotion! I really thought Elizabeth Hubbard would have won with the tape she submitted. Thanks also for including ATWT's win for drama series!! You read my mind. It was great seeing the GL table stand up in support for its sister show ATWT!

  • You are most welcome--I agree about Elizabeth--

I really was into ATWT more at that time and the show was so

superior to anything else at that time--

Glad Larry Martha and Greg won though

    Pat

  • Thank You, Thank You, Thank You,I love seeing old clips of the Daytime Emmys.More More More!!!!

  • I'll see what else I have from the early days--

I know I have when Bridget Reardon and Michael Z won

as well as Monti and a great tribute to Betty Rae--the casting director for both ATWT and GL at one time

But this Emmy show is the one that really gave the propos
