I don't see why there is such a "heated battle" about this. Paintballers like Paintball for different reason than Airsoft players like Airsoft. For people that like airsoft, its usually that they want their guns to look real so they can get in all their army get-up. For us Paintballers its the realism of gun firing accuracy, hard hitting, and having a painful reason for evading enemies and surviving. Also, Paintball has more opportunity for modification. I say we just respect the other group.

@SwissCheese707 I suggest you watch more airsoft videos then bro, very few people wear full facial masks. The most common thing you'll see are ESS profile goggles in the US. Overseas, they tend to be less worried about wearing military grade eye protection and opt for cheap shooting glasses instead.

OK just to clear up some misconcepitons the Military does not use paintball OR airsoft as a live action training methods they use live rounds, but the tip is made out of paint, so they dont have to buy a shit ton of plastic toys. i am not sure about the police they might use something simmialr to this or just paintball/airsoft

they do make paintball guns that look just like the airsoft guns, and they use them in scenario games in the woods or dessert. its called woodsball. so paintball has the bast of both worlds, just more expensive.

Paintball and Airsoft are two diffrent things. Airsoft is mostly for people that want to be more realistic and save money. Paintball is cool but you spend $20 for 5000 paintballs that last you about 3 game's. In Airsoft you pay $15-$20 for 5000 BB's that last around 6-7 games depending on how long each game is. Airsoft is more of a Mil-Sim Military Simulation, Paintball I have no idea what its supposed to represent. If you like paintball fine play paintball, if you like airsoft play airsoft.

Airsoft guns shoot an average of 120ft at 300fps. At 600fps (maximum sniper limits in most US field), you can easily reach 300ft. Paintball and airsoft are 2 differents things sharing the same core enjoyment; Shooting at each other without fearing not coming back the next day.

That may be a maximum range, but that's essentially where the bb hits the ground. The effective range is what matters in any projectile sport. A paintball can easily reach over 300 feet, but it's effective range is way way less than that. Same concept applies to airsoft.
Totally agree with you Billy and starting from this fact, the paintball effective range for a 300fps paintball gun is about 75ft. correct? For an airsoft gun, we are talking about 125ft for the same FPS. Now you can obviously factor in the cheap markers/airsoft guns but for the sake of consistency, lets assume both are medium quality brands.
@teamstrikersairsoft markers have effective ranges far above 75ft. Every gun shoots just as far as the next, the differences between guns are the valve systems, operating pressures and firing modes. If the effective range were only 75ft, there'd be no reason for guns to be up off break on a 150ft regulation competitive field. Accuracy depends on the paint quality and the shooter themselves. Despite anything read, I assure you what I'm telling you is 100% true. 7 years competitive experience

You just got one side of paintball, Speedball, but there is also Woodsball, the paintball guns there is also MilSim. I play both and have both kinds of games, my woodsball marker is a BT Omega and looks like a M4, and we play also using BDUs. I already order a set of airsoft guns to give a try from inside. The best way to decide which one is better is trying by yourself, not just watching videos.
i think airsoft is better but paintball is pretty good as there are more around my area but if there was more airsoft near were i live it would be living a dream kinda if it was for free
@Turk1389 When you see paintballers in jersy their almost always speedballing/airballing. I.E. running around in a VERY small field usually filled with brightly colored inflatable structures to hide behind. There is also things like woodsballing and scenario paintball. You can get realism if you choose to. That being said their both just as fun.
the photo at 1:28 are real soldiers just saying those are real assault rifles you can see the shells and the dust rising from the pressure differential as the bullet leaves the muzzle. not a good comparison at all

I never understood why paintballers dressed like dirt bike racers or even wear jerseys like soccer or hockey players, you almost never see anyone playing paintball in military-like gear. Paintball is better for the range of the gun but airsoft has a more epic following I think.
@TheMMPaintball Nice try buds, Airsoft is for replicating real combat situations, for simulating combat, etc. You can get Gas blow back rifle so that replicate the real rifles to the point where ATF bans them. Whereas paintball, c'mon, big shiny chrome gun with a massive balloon on the top of it full of colorful paintballs? You can't even use scopes, or tactical attachments for half of them out there. Paintball is fun no doubt, played it quite a bit but then I discovered Airsoft.

@Isk8forcash123 Actually you zero in your accuracy before gaming. If it is CQB, you set up your sights for close range, if its field, you set your sights for long range (and hopup). The reason why Airsoft isn't a "popular" sport with the media is because the weapons are replicas of the real thing. Having kids under 18 playing with airsoft is dangerous - kids are irresponsible. Hence why there is paintball, doesn't look real whatsoever, great for kids, fun sport indeed. But I prefer airsoft.

@TheMMPaintball It's funny you would say that because at my airsoft course I play at, we all have to wear masks, no exceptions. Want to know why? Here's one example. My friend played a small game without a mask with some friends at his house. He got shot in the mouth from a good distance away and the bb broke two of his teeth in half. Maybe when you stop using airsoft guns from Walmart and you get into the more expensive stuff, you just might change your mind about pain.
I stick with paintball i'm 13 now but when I'm like 14 i'll get a job get paid at 16 buy airsoft products (except guns) and use them for paintball. I really never liked airsoft but I got to admit the SCAR-H looks awesome (:D
@AutoAimGamer airsoft is more expensive than paintball , i think ... i spent over 500$ on an MP5SD6 and a Beretta. Besides 3 extra clips on each , laser pointers , flashlight , scopes , rails conversion kits , upgrades . And not counting the equipment ,like holsters , bmag pockets , vests , head gear etc etc etc .
The army doesnt use airsoft. And they don't for a shitload of reasons ie u cant c if u hit someone when u fire anything within 20 yards. I know they make "paint bbs" but if u realy think about it that's exactly what paintball is. The army even has their own brand of paintball
@RMKASSAULT2011 - In my experience of palying paintball for 10 years, and airsoft for 15 (yes, the time overlapped and i quit paintball) there are just as many cheaters in paintball as airsoft. At 80+ feet you can't see a paint splatter anyway and a ref cant be everywhere. The military don't just use paintball because you can see the paint...that's a dumb reason. Why would a military person lie about their hit during training? The police in my town practice with airsoft

Paintball and Airsoft are two diffrent things. Airsoft is mostly for people that want to be more realistic and save money. Paintball is cool but you spend $20 for 5000 paintballs that last you about 3 game's. In Airsoft you pay $15-$20 for 5000 BB's that last around 6-7 games depending on how long each game is. Airsoft is more of a Mil-Sim Military Simulation, Paintball I have no idea what its supposed to represent. If you like paintball fine play paintball, if you like airsoft play airsoft.

@BiizMuth yeah i just got done saying almost they same exact thing in another video. also they need to try and play with high end guns not cheapos. also paintball for high end markers like what i use to have . you have to buy high end paints which runs about 60-80 dollars for a case of 2000 airsoft for a high end aeg like what i have now uses high precision bbs which runs for 20 bucks for a bag of 5000.

Airsoft guns shoot an average of 120ft at 300fps. At 600fps (maximum sniper limits in most US field), you can easily reach 300ft. Paintball and airsoft are 2 differents things sharing the same core enjoyment; Shooting at each other without fearing not coming back the next day.

That may be a maximum range, but that's essentially where the bb hits the ground. The effective range is what matters in any projectile sport. A paintball can easily reach over 300 feet, but it's effective range is way way less than that. Same concept applies to airsoft.

Totally agree with you Billy and starting from this fact, the paintball effective range for a 300fps paintball gun is about 75ft. correct? For an airsoft gun, we are talking about 125ft for the same FPS. Now you can obviously factor in the cheap markers/airsoft guns but for the sake of consistency, lets assume both are medium quality brands.

@teamstrikersairsoft markers have effective ranges far above 75ft. Every gun shoots just as far as the next, the differences between guns are the valve systems, operating pressures and firing modes. If the effective range were only 75ft, there'd be no reason for guns to be up off break on a 150ft regulation competitive field. Accuracy depends on the paint quality and the shooter themselves. Despite anything read, I assure you what I'm telling you is 100% true. 7 years competitive experience

I already had a paintball and it was so innacurate. so 300 feet or not paintballs aim like shit. true story. My modified m4 shoots about 200 ft@470fps with .25 ceramic bb's. no need to be a sniper to play guns..

@newphow im not a noob I played paintball for 5 years lol I even learned a SWAT formation. like I said I already played paintball and the principal reason I abandonned it was the shitload of stuff you have to bring and the not effective ball loader in the middle of your sight.since I began to play airsoft I can say that I'm pretty difficult to hit even my friends are snobbing me cauz I almost never lose or get hit. but I'd like to try mini paintballs it looks a bit more accurate.

You just got one side of paintball, Speedball, but there is also Woodsball, the paintball guns there is also MilSim. I play both and have both kinds of games, my woodsball marker is a BT Omega and looks like a M4, and we play also using BDUs. I already order a set of airsoft guns to give a try from inside. The best way to decide which one is better is trying by yourself, not just watching videos.

@Turk1389 When you see paintballers in jersy their almost always speedballing/airballing. I.E. running around in a VERY small field usually filled with brightly colored inflatable structures to hide behind. There is also things like woodsballing and scenario paintball. You can get realism if you choose to. That being said their both just as fun.

I never understood why paintballers dressed like dirt bike racers or even wear jerseys like soccer or hockey players, you almost never see anyone playing paintball in military-like gear. Paintball is better for the range of the gun but airsoft has a more epic following I think.

@TheMMPaintball Nice try buds, Airsoft is for replicating real combat situations, for simulating combat, etc. You can get Gas blow back rifle so that replicate the real rifles to the point where ATF bans them. Whereas paintball, c'mon, big shiny chrome gun with a massive balloon on the top of it full of colorful paintballs? You can't even use scopes, or tactical attachments for half of them out there. Paintball is fun no doubt, played it quite a bit but then I discovered Airsoft.

@Isk8forcash123 Actually you zero in your accuracy before gaming. If it is CQB, you set up your sights for close range, if its field, you set your sights for long range (and hopup). The reason why Airsoft isn't a "popular" sport with the media is because the weapons are replicas of the real thing. Having kids under 18 playing with airsoft is dangerous - kids are irresponsible. Hence why there is paintball, doesn't look real whatsoever, great for kids, fun sport indeed. But I prefer airsoft.

@TheMMPaintball It's funny you would say that because at my airsoft course I play at, we all have to wear masks, no exceptions. Want to know why? Here's one example. My friend played a small game without a mask with some friends at his house. He got shot in the mouth from a good distance away and the bb broke two of his teeth in half. Maybe when you stop using airsoft guns from Walmart and you get into the more expensive stuff, you just might change your mind about pain.

@RMKASSAULT2011 - In my experience of palying paintball for 10 years, and airsoft for 15 (yes, the time overlapped and i quit paintball) there are just as many cheaters in paintball as airsoft. At 80+ feet you can't see a paint splatter anyway and a ref cant be everywhere. The military don't just use paintball because you can see the paint...that's a dumb reason. Why would a military person lie about their hit during training? The police in my town practice with airsoft
