  • Science is conclusive, but it seems most people don't GET what science is telling us. If we are running out of time to respond then those who do get it need to try more effective ways to pass on their understanding to empower the community to act efficiently.

Revolutionary types of theatre and art that could significantly change peoples perception might be a way into mass proaction.

In desperation I am trying to do what I can but I feel time is running out. I am writing my own play.

  • has the jet stream changed ?

  • Great to hear from scientists who research and know their subjects rather then pundits and paid shills who make stuff up.

  • Like there will be nowhere for man to move we are stuck on this earth FOR EVER. What can we do? STOP using fossil fuels...grow billions of tree to take CO2 out of the atmosphere, Bring environmental groups into power all over the world, Basically care and rebuild nature all over the world rather then destroying nature. Oh the biggest thing GET RID of stupid religion..then people would then have nothing to believe in other then nature. Nature brings LIFE religion brings destruction.

  • @timdnwd I AGREE !

  • Human contribution of CO2 is having a huge effect on temperature. IF the oceans take up CO2. they heat up, oxygen is depleted in the oceans and life will die in the oceans, it happened a long time ago on earth. That was the start of the foundation of fossil fuel deposits...

  • Nature changes but incredibly slowly...over millions of years. The CO2 produced by man by the burning of fossil fuels is changing incredibly FAST. Nature can't keep up, that is the earth has become out of balance with nature, Evidence The earth is warming.

  • YES Chemistry is the right word. If a chemical reaction is at low temperature the the reaction goes slow. Heat up the chemical reaction the reaction goes faster.

  • dickhead talk about THE RATE OF CHANGE...nature changes at a very slow rate over 100's of 100000's and millions of years... Humans are changing the earths environment very quickly. It can be measured in years...nature can't keep up, As a result nature is dying all over the world....PEOPLE; UNDERSTAND "THE RATE OF CHANGE" Yes nature changes, SLOWLY OVER MILLIONS OF YEARS..Humans ARE CHANGING THE ENVIRONMENT ON A DAYLY BASIS

  • @vechorik: As for Algore, if he wants to cuss, that's his thing. The real question...algore or nogore, is whether the science is sound! It is. Whether or not we do any policy is a great place to start debate. Can we afford it? Should we let the free market decide? (hint: kids today can't buy big cars, they ride little scooters). Lots of good questions there, but the science is pretty sound.

  • @vechorik: The guy who was researching polar bears has been vidicated....i.e. His work checks. Rather than worrying about whether this argument is about "greenies" saving polar bears, think of those animals as "Canaries in a coal mine". Polar bears are not political!

  • 17:20 Good point. Dave Titley, chief Oceanographer for the US Navy also brought up a good point. Many oil refineries are located along the gulf coast. A catastrophic flood (turbocharged by sea level rise), would wipe out a significant part of our ability to refine gasoline and diesel. A risk here would be skyrocketing fuel prices and food shortages. Not fun.

  • There was definitely a lot of carbon dioxide being expelled in that studio.

  • On 7/28/11, it was revealed that the scientist behind the polar-bears-are-in-trouble research is being investigated for “scientific misconduct”. Then, a new study of NASA data revealed that the earth is actually allowing more heat to escape the planet than previously thought by the climate change community. During a speech at the Aspen Institute in Colorado, Al Gore launched into a vulgar tirade while accusing skeptics of media manipulation.

  • Awesome job Dr. Bieler!

  • they have answers and they broke it down into simple terms to explain it, you should try listening to them when they don't put it into laymens.

  • frustrating to listen to. Scientists can't come up with answers acceptable to laymen.

But they did have the courage to say "it is too late"

  • @nellre Scientists have been warning us that change will come of we keep doing what we're doing since at least the mid-1950s. Check this for just one example - and note it was written specifically for the layman: watch?v=AuV0crHDkmY We didn't listen in the 1950s. We didn't listen in the 1970s. We didn't listen in the 1990s or in 2000. The rest of the world has been taking action while we're still locked in an artificial 'debate'.
