@jforsy01 ~ One more thing...I noticed you commented on the John MacArthur videos. John is both a Calvinist & my pastor, & he opposes the No Lordship Calvinists. He is a VERY sanctifying pastor who doesn't gloss over the wrath of God. Brother David agrees with MacAthur in that he too, believes in Jesus as Lord, not just Savior. Have you ever read John's book, "The Gospel According to Jesus?" You'd really like it. David likes it. John says grace may be free, but it's not cheap.
@jforsy01 ~ Are you a follower of Charles Ryrie or Zane Hodges? They deny perseverance of the saints. Hodges wrote, a Christian "may cease to name the name of Christ, & may even cease to confess Christianity." Ryrie claims that a true believer may eventually turn away - even cease believing entirely yet enjoy full assurance of eternal life. Is that Biblical correct? No...they are both describing a blasphemer - the unforgivable sin.
@jforsy01 ~ That's what the Calvinistic principle known as the "perseverance of the saints" is all about. If one is convicted by the Holy Spirit, then a natural outcropping will be evident. Works don't earn grace, they are merely RESULTS of a transformed life. No evidence = no conversion, which means they were never saved to begin with - the victim of decisional evangelism & "1-2-3 pray after me." God decides, not the sinner. Hope that makes sense.
@jforsy01 ~ I believe in free grace. In fact, I believe God's saving grace is truly free. Everyone who believes in unconditional election by definition believes in free grace. In other words, the view we commonly label Calvinism is the real "free grace" position. And I have never met a true Calvinist who believed any sinner saved by God's grace ever could or would persist in willfully & deliberately in rejecting Christ's lordship. More....

I love Ps 19! If a sinner doesn't know he's a sinner & in violation of the law, how can he come to repentance & contrition if not being first convicted by the Holy Spirit of transgressing the law? No conviction, no conversion. Preach the law, preach on sin or else you get a falsely converted stillborn.

True! I like what you said about Christmas. I do the same thing that you said. I give nothing anymore than what I do the rest of the year. Christmas is what my pastor has often called the hypocrites's holiday. The time when the world is filled with the most greed, and people teach their kids to pray to "satan clause." Yes, Christmas is actually made up of all sorts of pagan rites and rituals, and for the most part is baptized paganism, however there are those who try to put people under the law of Moses [keeping the feasts, etc.] The Apostles plainly said that the Gentiles do not have to observe the law of Moses.
But yes, people do commit all sorts of idolatry at Christmas. Actually it is not a "biblical" holiday at all. I don't judge my brothers and sisters who celebrate it though. God knows their heart

Amen brother! We must put to death the works of the flesh, and the only way to do that is to walk in the Spirit. Too many people find it hard to be led by the Spirit, because all the static of the world dulls their ears from hearing.
Not to boast, but I gave my 4 year old 1 gift and that is it. The only gifts I bought anyone. I have 3 kids and a wife...I gave my tides to the church...it was all I could afford in this rediculous economy. @jforsy01 ~ One more thing...I noticed you commented on the John MacArthur videos. John is both a Calvinist & my pastor, & he opposes the No Lordship Calvinists. He is a VERY sanctifying pastor who doesn't gloss over the wrath of God. Brother David agrees with MacAthur in that he too, believes in Jesus as Lord, not just Savior. Have you ever read John's book, "The Gospel According to Jesus?" You'd really like it. David likes it. John says grace may be free, but it's not cheap.

Hodges wrote, a Christian "may cease to name the name of Christ, & may even cease to confess Christianity." Ryrie claims that a true believer may eventually turn away - even cease believing entirely yet enjoy full assurance of eternal life. Is that Biblical correct? No...they are both describing a blasphemer - the unforgivable sin.

@jforsy01 ~ That's what the Calvinistic principle known as the "perseverance of the saints" is all about. If one is convicted by the Holy Spirit, then a natural outcropping will be evident. Works don't earn grace, they are merely RESULTS of a transformed life. No evidence = no conversion, which means they were never saved to begin with - the victim of decisional evangelism & "1-2-3 pray after me." God decides, not the sinner. Hope that makes sense.

In other words, the view we commonly label Calvinism is the real "free grace" position. Amen, brother David! The main problem with Postmodernism is the lack of preaching on sin & law. Paul said he didn't know what sin was but by the law. The law is perfect - RESTORING THE SOUL! I love Ps 19! If a sinner doesn't know he's a sinner & in violation of the law, how can he come to repentance & contrition if not being first convicted by the Holy Spirit of transgressing the law? No conviction, no conversion. Preach the law, preach on sin or else you get a falsely converted stillborn.

Excellent, brother David! My pastor was preaching through Mark this morning & Hebrews earlier tonight - both times he stressed OBEDIENCE. How few preachers preach on sin today. But I heard one pastor make a very succinct remark a while back I will never forget..."A man who 'LOVES all women' (as in porn watching,) will respect not a one, but a man who RESPECTS all women will be able to love only one." Yes, Christmas is actually made up of all sorts of pagan rites and rituals, and for the most part is baptized paganism, however there are those who try to put people under the law of Moses [keeping the feasts, etc.] The Apostles plainly said that the Gentiles do not have to observe the law of Moses.
But yes, people do commit all sorts of idolatry at Christmas. Actually it is not a "biblical" holiday at all. I don't judge my brothers and sisters who celebrate it though. God knows their heart

It would be good to study Romans8:12-13it says,"Therefore ,brethren,we are debtors,not to the flesh,to live after the flesh.For if you live after the flesh,you shall die:but if you through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body,you shall live."That says a lot!!!

He is very true. I think we shouldn't love anything of this world or in it. All these entertaining things we place before our ears and eyes just makes us sick spiritualy. We push away our children and wife/husband and expect our children to raise on our own to be MORE independent, etc. And look at our society now! What ever happened to family time?One family member is on the net, the other on tv, the other hearing who knows what on an ipod.....

Modern gadgets can divide the family! The devil can invade our homes through the Internet,Ipods,TV,CDs,Magazines etc.We can be lured into compromise by the content we allow in our minds.The men must lead their families in times of worship and devotions.

WOW! I have not heard a sermon like this in years. What in the world has happened to the church of today? Where did the desire to be like Jesus go? Why do we now follow the world so easily? The things you preached about, in your church in Barbados, are now running rampant among Christians, here. We have become immune to the call of God to be Holy. It is rarely preached. We must get into the Word everyday. Renew our minds daily. And make effort to spend some time with the Lord in prayer. If that occurs our Lord may graciously keep us from stumbling. Our interessions are also important.

Preaching against sin is never popular,but the comment below is totally off target and makes no sense.Sin is deadly,sin destriys,sin ruins relationships.Very serious warnings against immorality and its dire consequences.Plus this video deals with others sins like greed,gossip,backbiting.We must control the body or it will control us.

It seems that preaching on abstinence in this manner only causes sexual tension and increases the occurrence of children born out of wedlock, causes problems in marriage, and increases back alley abortions.

Thomas Boston a very godly pastor said in the 1600s,"That a Christian who desires to keep himself pure must control his body.This may require a holy violence." The imagery is crystal clear...we must 'mortify sin".We must see sin as God sees sin ,then we will truly hate sin.The bible tells us to Hate,but hate what? Hate sin! That mean to detest it.We will not kill sin unless we hate sin and love holiness.

Lets get real folks,the bible says crucify the flesh,the bible says we must put sin to death and we cannot play games with sin.Holy violence is telling us that it we show no mercy to sin.There is no miss understanding at all.Get real ,AFLAME is talking about sin.Romans8:13 says we are to mortify the deeds of the flesh by the Spirit.That word means to 'kill,put to death and destroy'.Lets not go down rabbit trails.If you had a poisonous snake in your house how would you deal with it?

Crucifixion is a brutal word when you think about it yet Jesus tells us to deny self and take up the cross daily.Gal 5:24'And those who are Christs have CRUCIFIED the flesh with its passions and lusts".Now that takes 'holy violence'.Heb.12:4"Ye have not resisted unto blood,striving against sin."The flesh is a war with us,sin is at war with us.The words used in the Bible are appropiate when dealing with sin,so holy violence against sin is what we need.We cannot be passive! This is a fight!

The words Holy Violence does scare me a little bit becouse it can be abused and become actual violence against other people and Christianity has been lured into atacking, hating, and even killing unbelievers and sinners over the years and that goes against Christ's teachings as well as corrupts the very Christians who do that.
But a holy violence against the spirits of the flesh and the fruit of the flesh is a totaly different thing

In context it is clear we are talking about killing sin..put sin to death.The KJV uses the word mortify.I am very sure those who view will understand that we are talking about sin.Last part of your comment is very good.The fear of the Lord is to hate evil,that is hate sin.

Many lukewarm Christians around me have influenced my steadfastness in the things I watch on Youtube, and I'm going to delete the vids I have on here now, which are not holy unto God, and brings in unclean or unpure thoughts not only to me but to others, AMEN!!!
