Um my teacher told me that the foam protecting the fuel tank came off and the fuel tank got so hot that it exploded. Btw she also said the it was something that could not be prevented unlike challenger where it was human error
the piece that broke the thermal protection detached from external liquid fuel tank during liftoff. in reentry, hot plasma entered on the external structure by the hole caused in the left wing by the piece detached on the liftoff.
NASA engineers //were// aware that there was the possibility of a TERRIBLE problem, but managers countermanded their requests to secure additional data, and the astronauts were not even told of the validity of this threat.
This is a pure betrayal, and it is a crime. Those managers ought to be in a prison for 7 counts of negligent homicide, and a civil suit ought to strip them of every personal penny they have.
lets just think maybe space wasnt ment to be traveled to like the weather gets crazy and sometimes the shuttle blows up like apollo 1, the challenger, and the columbia i know this is a mistake made by people but just remember it cost over $1,000,000,000,000 to go up there and every state has money issues
when you make a video about Columbia don't use pics of the Challenger and its crew. you also say a piece of foam broke off after re-entry. it broke off at lift off and they did a space walk while in orbit. they were given the go, go/no-go by nasa. the gap in the foam heated up and thats what caused the disaster. not something hitting it

I agree with swimmy123456. There are several photos of other orbiters and one of the Challenger launch & explosion. One slide says a piece of foam broke off during re-entry. (Foam from where ?) Another slide has a different crew standing in front of the orbiter Discovery. Talk about misinformation. No stars ! Bad video Tina !
