I've been noticing a lot of hate for this game on the other Final Fantasy music comment boards. It's hard for me to understand. I played Final Fantasy 1 back when it was brand new. I then played 2,4,5,6,7, and 8. Life took over for awhile, and it wan't until 12 that I was able to get back on board.  The series came a long way. All I have to say is that if FF 12 had come out back in the old school days, it probably would have been the biggest smash hit video game of all time - thats a fact.

I believe this song was first introduced as the opening song to final fantasy 7 at least the beginning part.  Jesus, I'm worried that this isn't common knowledge, does that mean I'm getting old? I refuse to accept this...

lol no, It's the prelude that has been used for all FF from I to XIV. After 0:50 is when the main theme of just XII begins, everything before that is the prelude that was created for FFI.

@tif9123 Indeed, the Prelude to the Crystal, it was named originally. The only game not to use this theme was Final Fantasy XIII, having a different musical composition. The beginning of Serah's theme played during the opening credits in this game!

Maybe. I'm thinking of the music that plays before the game starts (before the menu). It has the ship over water, then the judges and battle, sends out that fire and then (the part that I say is "missing") it shows the monsters, espers, and characters. That's the part of the song I love the most.

I rather wish the Prelude (Crystal Theme? Anyway...) part of this track could be isolated. I have nothing against the rest of it, not even slightly. Epic awesome win; I doubt this can be denied. Still, I just would rather consider them as separate tracks, separate pieces of music. I really like that rendition of the Prelude too, so...

I DO agree with you here. The first 0:50 seconds of the piece are amazing, and the rest just kinda clashes with it. Maybe separate pieces would be better for this situation.

To be honest, it's like, tied for my favorite rendition of the Prelude - so I really DO wish it had been separated... (For the, like, non-existent record, my former favorite/currently tied for favorite version is FF7's. It was the first version I ever heard, as FF7 was my first true Final Fantasy experience, as unfortunately before that, all I got was vague glimpses of FF1, when I was like, 5 or 6, heh...)

i have played this game and finished it till the end...it's worth the play...the game and the story is so memorable.. i will never forget this game..i played and loved Suikoden V too..it's also a very good and memorable game...these 2 games are very nice.. they are worth your time playing..

I have played Final Fantasy XII as far as the Bahamut, but I have not gone further, yet... I love this game. It's absolutely amazing. I think Square Enix have done well to make such a brilliant game on the PS2, it's a shame FFXIII didn't quite meet the standards...

Each FF game is different to each other. Besides, Final Fantasy Versus 13 will be more of a action combat based (similiar to Crisis Core).

I'm not sure about how FFXIII will pan out as I have not played it yet. From the examples of Final Fantasy games I HAVE played (V, VII, VIII, X, X-2 and XII) they all followed a certain theme and style. It seems to me that FFXIII will be completely different from this style. This is only MY opinion, remember.

nah, that's just versus (square enix has hinted that versus might become the first M-rated final fantasy). the regular FFXIII has a similar style from the other entries in the series.
