What really makes the first part of this so frightening is Windows' screaming and all the blood and brains coming from the thing. You know that his head is being ripped apart and eaten, but the fact that he's alive enough to scream is terrifying.

In the third up coming installment. The rescue team finds Childs and McReady still alive. Somehow Windows, before he died, manage to send out a message over the radio. Childs and McReady are badly beaten and weather down by the elements of the cold, hence, explaining that they had age and leaving room for John Carpenter to use in the third film. I also think that the Norweigens also send out a call for help, so, the girl in the prequel is also rescue. Third movie is going to be good..

Because around the beginning, when the dog(thing) is walking around the complex, there's a scene where the dog stops and seemingly moves on. But in wide screen edition you actually see the dog goin in the room with Norris, making him the first to be infected.
