  • Love it - well done for the progress lads.

  • Quality sound of an old girl firing up. Poor starter though glad it's not mine!

  • why is it smoking when starting? unburnt fuel?

  • Typical 510! no air no throttle, We used to bribe out MK1 into life on cold frosty mornings with a gas blow torch down the inlet manifold.

Still took that long to start though, god only know how those old butec starters survived.

  • well done lads... dont think shell be doing the 26n yet though

  • reminds me of the heady days of my childhood in Ellesmere Port where there would be 6 or 7 of these parked up, all on the tilt (because of the dodgy suspension) and the inimitable sound of struggling leyland engines, and the scream of them as the drivers tried to wake them up - at the same time!! Ahhhh so much smoke! I would sneak out to the depot at 6am just to see them waking up....

  • @eerieinhabitant try GHA coaches yard in the mornings!

  • These were always a pig to start after being standing for a while not least cos the air operated throttle didnt work through loss of air after prolonged idleness. Looks like the guy lying down at the rear assuming he hasnt been run over that is, is operating the throttle manually with a screwdriver or similar implement, prising the throttle arm open.
