Thanks for posting this Melissa ! I have finally been diagnosed with overacted thyroid & graves disease after 3 years of battling with my doctor. My eyes have just started bulging out slightly and i am hoping with treatment they will get better. Don't give up your beautiful and don't forget that.

The doctor told me that my heart rate is inregular . 150 heart rate per minute . And he ask me to take Propranolol 2 tablets 3 time A day and can you imagine how many tablet do i need to take A day ? It's 15 ! To be honest , I don't even feel like taking medicine any more . I don't feel that it works .. seriously , it don't.

Thanks for the vid. I have been recently diagnosed with Graves officially two weeks ago but have had the symptoms for the past year and a half. I am starting to feel the changeds in my eye. People say I am paranoid but I can tell by the way my eyes move. I am constantly crying and I have this constant fear that I will look like a monster. I have graves disease..... It sucks, I have had 2 thyroid storms 1 of which resulted in a mild heart attack plus I'm only 18. They have considered iodine but with the eye problems I could go blind. They want to remove the gland and I want it gone too but my levels are over 600. How do you fight a loosing battle?

I also had a hyperthyroid condition due to fibroids my doctor took it out and 2 days after surgery I notice one of my eyes was bigger than the other one.That was almost 1 yr ago and my eye has not gone back to normal.I have talked to a lot of doctors and they all said I should hope it does not get worse,but none of them offered a cure.

I have the same thing. But I've had it probably my whole life so I didn't notice my eyes untill the Dr's told me about it. Everyone just used to say to me "wow, you have really nice big eyes"! Now that I'm aging (47) my left eye is starting to get a little more googley than my right. Children noticed it more than adults, or adults just hide their feelings a little better than kids. LOL!! I have a problem with dry eye though! I'm constantly putting the Optive drops.

Hey girl, I have the exact same eye problem, and opted to have my thyroid removed last month. This is what my doctor told me - Staying on meds wont help the bulging, and radioactive iodine treatment can make it worse. The bulging eye will correct itself after having the thyroid removed, but it may take up to six months. This was the case in 90% of patients. The other 10% were generally older less healthy patients, but the eyes did improve after several years. Maybe consider the op..

I have the thyroid eye disease in both of my eyes and I had my first surgery last month. I am actually having my other eye done a week from tomorrow. My eye went back to normal, but I am still having issues. I am very sensitive to light and it dries out all the time. I hope that in a few months all of this will go away.

Hi Melissa, I was diagnosed with HyperT 4 years and got rid of it naturally. It took 4 months but was happy to get rid of it. During that 4 months, there are ways to reduce the effects of HyperT short term, until its completely gone.

I had RAI in December 06' I lost a lot of hair. My hair still hasn't returned to normal. Then in June 09 I noticed that my eye looked weird in pics from vacation. I went to the eye Dr. that's when he referred me to a Opthamologist. She didn't do anything because mine is ony 1 mm bulging outward and eyelid 1mm lifted. i had orbital decompresion you be alright i take methmizole got diagnosed july 11 2007 youl be fine dont nuke it take methamizole not ptu you end up on 15 10 mg methamizole a day and a small dose of toprol it does get better i promise you my eyes were 9mm wow huh! be positive go to the er if your heart is racing dont play doctor with your meds

When I was younger I was very handsome... at least the ladies told me I was... now, about 12 years after my nuclear treatment for graves... I look nothing like I did. BOTH eyes bulge out past my upper eye socket bones. I must wear rounded sunglasses so my eyes don't hit the lenses and they still almost do. My upper eyelids are hugh now to protect my eyes. They sag greatly. I look nothing like I did when I got married in 95. I'm 48 now and looking to get this corrected somehow. You're Gorgeous.

My wife has Hyperthyroid and she used Methimazole, which brought hormone levels to normal. She also used Propanolol for beta blocker. Her thyroid hormones have returned to normal, and we are hoping for a remission, but Dr. keeps pushing radioactive iodine and surgery to remove gland. We do not want to do this because I have heard sometimes the iodine will make proptosis worse and surgery will also.
