Minecraft beta the biggest clockwork ever!

So is it possible to do this exact thing but replace the redstone with pistons? If it were, I'd make the clock a few layers, put in glowstone and have the pistons work like the redstone torches, they move in a precise order, revealing the glowstone. With that idea, the clock and numbers would be much more prominent.
