He is singing about Tammi Terrell he was in luv with her,and her death was sudden at a very young age 25.Another song " I want you " on Tammi's album was another beautiful song was about her. He is our soul brother, and as for the dislike's you people never knew Marvin Gaye!!!
Thks for posting..Marvin was always my favorite male Motown singer...What's Goin On..was the best Motown album ever...thks for posting...amazing performance..
When I saw Marvin in "1984" at Billy Bob's Texas ,I was lucky enough to get a table in front of the stage ,they gave out complimentary tickets on the radio station ,there were about a thousand people on the parking lot that coulnot get in the door and inside was standing room only ,the fire dept came and cleared out most on them ,he sang this song last ,that is a night that I think about often and let me tell you folks ,he was awesome in person
Its so sad that we have lost so many black men who really knew how to sing. I love them and miss them all. Marvin, Michael, Luther, Barry, Lou, Issac......
My goodness, I look a this and it fills me up with not only wonderful emotions, also disgust when I think of current mainstream music today. It's absolutely horrific.
Why can't we just enjoy this amazing Mans music & not leave negative comments ? The ones that made the negative comments don't even deserve to listen to such a Gifted Man get the fuck off this channel ! Go listen to your so called real music Lil Fuckin Wayne !
Marvin rocks the green slacks. Wish I could have been there. He was soooo sexy. What emotion in the beautiful voice. With that body he would have looked good in anything. Loved him. He is so very missed. RIP Marvin.. See you on the other side.
Why did one of the greatest geniuses of soul music dress up for a show in the Lucky Charms leprechaun's tuxedo??? And the matching ski cap? Well, maybe it was cold in the concert hall... Still a genius, though...

@veeseee128 REAL STORY IS YOUR NOT TALKING BOUT MARVIN..THAT WAS DAVID RUFFIN THAT BEAT HER.....NOT MARVIN PLEASE.....LET'S KEEP IT REAL HERE ON YOUTUBE...
This has always been my favorite song of Marvins. But for probably different reasons than other people. I always got the impression that he wrote it about Tammy Terrell. I also lost someone that I loved very much many years ago. I still have not gotten over him. When my marriage broke up my ex told me he had been competing with a ghost for 20 years. Some people you just cna't get over.
Lady's this is what happens when you brake a good mans heart and you leave him there's no replacing the one you love. Broken hearts are like black holes there's a large hole that nothing can fill.
This song made me fall even the more in LOVE with the only man that I ever Was In Love With!! Talking about relate, this song made me YEARN for this Tall Dark and Lovely to the more that I couldn't even eat, sleep, or concentrate on anyone or anything but HIM!!!
Nice Concert!!!.1976 In Amsterdam.I was In this Concert.Long Time Here.
