  • Why do Japanese people always give the "peace" sign in photographs? What's going on there?

  • i bet even with that 32C the water is still cold O_O

  • @3lprim0 yeah - my friend tried to surf in Shimane and often used a wetsuit, but between July and September, the water is warm enough to go in with just a bathing suit.

  • @myargonauts i went to brightone(idk if is how it spells)-england when put a foot in the water it was like wha..the it was summer time and i said man this is not the caribean O_O

  • @3lprim0 Haha, Brighton? Lmao xD Nope England is defo not the Caribbean xD It snows here so yep. Nice, I live in South West England and it's too cold to go swimming in hot weather at the beach too. The water is always cold at the beach here :/

  • @Glitter99x well in venezuela the water is always warm XD i love my land

  • @3lprim0 Lol I love my country too.

  • The windmills look like they might be from the danish firm vestas. Each windmill powering many homes with electricity.

  • Did someone from JET take u shopping and stuff, becuase that seems really nice.

  • No, I took the other new JETs shopping, since I have a car and know my way around the town and they were all brand new to Izumo at the time.

  • hey there i have just applied for the JET 2010 programme. I recently found out that there is quite a lot of snakes in Japan which I was shocked. In my application I said I wouldn't mind living in rural Japan but I don't know whether I could cope with snakes. do they come in the house?

p.s your videos are amazing, it looks beautiful over there!

We don't have snakes where I come from!

  • Yeah - there are snakes - they like to hang out in the rice fields and the farmers have to be careful. I never saw a snake near my rural apartment complex, but I did get the occasional, harmless lizard in my house.

  • @TerriMC2020 nah is not that bad, having some random snakes is better than some random guy who shoots you just for fun or dance his girl or look at her o_o

  • wow that was a great vid wish i was there keep up the good work.

  • glad you liked it - thanks for watching! :)

  • if you didn't know that those "spinning things" were windmills, then im gana go out on a limb here and say that you've never been to Palm springs by car.

  • I would like to transfer to Japan for college. They look like wonderful people and have a very interesting culture.

  • Wait, you've been in JET for 4 years? o.o When I went to a seminar of theirs, they said it was very rare for anyone to stay even three years, heh.

  • Haha so many V signs.

  • i can see the sea..lol

  • nice video you seem like a gentle kind person and easily likable, once again nice video

  • 日本に外国の方が住んでるのは素直にうれしいね。

  • Cool! Keep the videos coming!

  • 島根にも砂丘があるのかな?

  • There are some famous sand dunes in Tottori ken, next to Shimane.

  • thank you very very much for the links.Really need them, since im going to live in japan myself.

  • haha that was funny at the end, your saying goodbye and then just go off on a tangent. "OK bye... I don't know what these things are...." ADD moment lol.

  • Wtf is JETs?

  • so, im going to go to japan.

    any tips?

  • wheres the chickie babes?

  • You don't know wind power generators? You ARE American after all... seems like only Japanese and "boring old world" Europeans have that stuff... :-)

Your going for editing effects is indeed funny to look at. You are evolving. :-)

The western beaches in northern Japan were pretty dirty back then, tons of plastic. I'd rather go to Hachinohe to have a swim.

  • Nice looking beach there! Good stuff.

  • Lovely place. Hope i get to visit Japan some time.

    Cheers.

  • still loving your videos

  • still loving your comments... :)

  • thanks for the comment.

Vacation hasn't happened yet for me - busy with helping with the new JETs who arrived last week and this week, and still going to some competitions to cheer on my students.

  • Thanks for checking out my vids. :)

  • That beach looks heavenly.

I look forward to seeing more of your RLJ Series videos!

They have a more laid back comfortable feel compared to your JET Vlogs :)

  • is's beautiful there.

  • Hi Jason! Naruyo sent me, and I'm glad for the opportunity to learn a bit more about Japan! Since I haven't seen your videos before, the Jet vlogs are new to me, but you seem like a very nice person, like Naruyo, and I'm glad to meet you.

So ... you don't drive to Korea much, right? I'm just guessing. ;-)

  • thanks for checking out my channel.

I did take the ferry to Korea once. Once was enough. If I go again, I'll fly.

  • HA! good job on editing! :P

    nice summary of vloggers! -->

  • good 5*

  • Yes they are windmill generators for energy, where i live they have alot of them near the coast and at open fields.

  • Thanks for the new video. the party looked fun. :) keep up the great work.

  • NaruyoJapan send me message with this vid

    I enjoyed watching your vid..

Thank you and Naruyo for showing this vid.

BTW, I'll be in Matsue from Aug. 11st to Aug. 14th.

I'm excited to be back in Shimane.

  • Excellent! Shimane welcomes you back! :)

You'll just miss the big fireworks festival in Matsue - it's the weekend before you arrive.

  • I love Naruyo, she is awesome. She shared your video and I had to check it out. Awesome vlog. I just have to sub. Thanks to Naruyo for sending me your way. Cool title for your vlog series. Looking forward to more.

    Martha

  • Thanks for checking out my vids. More on the way. :D

  • Oh my God! Jason sensei! I was surprised to have my name for the explanation of you video. You are a wonderful person! Enjoy summer! matane!

  • I hope you have a great summer vacation as well. :)

  • Very nice! The beach shots made me crave for inaka - something that happens very rarely. But wow, it sure looked nice.

And thanks for putting me in your list of recommendations!

  • No worries - glad to point some people at your fun vids.

  • It's good to see you back Jason! I was beginning to wonder if you would make another video or not :D.

  • awesome

  • Cool new series Jason-san. The name is good by the way.

Did any of the new JETs know you from Youtube? Did they score as good an apartment as you?

    Keep them coming.

  • Most of em got pretty good apts - one even got a house 10 minutes from the beach in this video.

And yeah - they had all seen my vids. :P

  • Wow! Thanks for the link on the side! I just got a mini-flood of new subscribers and was wondering where they came from!

For a disillusioned long-timer living in the city and making videos that aren't always wholesome, it's refreshing to see wholesome videos of rural Japan life. Looking forward to the new series!

  • You're welcome. :)

Yeah - it's all kinds of wholesome out here in inaka land. :)

  • YAY, more videos from Jason. Awesome beach with little people. Look at your editing skills getting better. You actually put a different video in with this one. Looking forward to these new VLogs. :)

    -Billy-

  • Nice vid! Glad to see you vlogging. Hope you'll make more. Wow...its amazing to see such a nice beach with so few people. Suma Beach here in Kobe has huge crowds and lots of garbage too...not very clean.

    Have a great weekend Jason:)

  • ey,that beach is lookin exactly like the beachs we have here in australia.... justALOT less crouded!! =P

  • yeeah new series! Keep it up, talking to Japanese citizens would be cool, as a suggestion talking about foreigners

  • keep the series going,,, maybe more interaction with people, their views on foreigners etc...

  • Great video! I'm subscribed to a bunch of those guys also!

  • Those are windmills that converts the kinetic energy in the wind into mechanical energy or in your case electricity.

  • p,s, I would love to see a vlog about your relationships with your neighbours and any interaction you have with community outside of work.

  • my neighbours? that "realtionship" consists of the occasional bow and the obligatory aisatsu as we pass each other in the parking area. :P

  • Pizzicato 5 ---- Rock on!!!

  • yeah! P5 is the first J-pop CD I ever bought, way back in the early 90s. :D

  • look at that! the beach looks great, very beautiful location. looking forward to more videos in this series!

  • i love rural japan =) beautiful!

    thanks for the video jason.

    have a great weekend!

  • Jason, that place is beautiful! But, you already knew that ;)

I believe those are windmill generators that are supposed to provide energy somewhere in the area. They're very cool looking, especially near a beach.

  • looks really nice ;)

  • Wow... that beach looks really nice. Is the water cold in beaches in Japan? I'm surprised that you didn't know about wind turbines. Where I live (Toronto) they're everywhere.

  • the water is not too cold in July, August and September

  • nice thanks!!

  • Looks awesome! I will visit Shimane. Any idea how long it takes to get there from Nagoya?! keep up the good work!

  • From Nagoya? hmmm... my guess is 4 or 5 hours by train.
